Well, I finally figured out how high-end play in Halo works. It involves the following:
> mash crouch like a fucking moron even though the effectiveness is dubious at best
>spam every grenade you have at even the slightest glimpse of an enemy
>close in and double-melee whenever possible
> hope you didn't forget your grenades!
It's honestly indistinguishable from pub shitter play. The only difference is in how many kills you get and how much of a sweaty tryhard you are. I matched against Diamond players five times tonight and their tools of destruction, every time, was either melee or grenades.

Makes me wonder why the UNSC even issue Spartans with guns.

It voids certain achievements related to par time and scoring. So if you're going for the Legendary in under 3 hours achievements, you can't have bandanna on. But if you're just running through the game for the level completion achievements, it won't stop you from unlocking them.

That's honestly a good question.

On the one hand, I think they take good notes from what they did wrong in Halo 4. They 180'd on AAs and Loadouts, for one, which I thought they'd never do in case it made people think they were admitting a mistake. They revamped the Promethean weapons to not be useless/OP while also making them pretty unique too. Made Covies speak English for the first time since 3, removed those bumps on undersuits...

And they had a rather extensive list of things they took notes on from the H5 Beta, from nerfing some Spartan Abilities to reducing killtimes.

At this point I have mixed feelings about 343. At the same time that they get things really right they get alot of things REALLY wrong.

You dumbos, Reach had bad maps because they didn't always take the armor abilities into consideration when making them, so some maps are for sprint and jet pack and others aren't, so if you turn them off even you're still stuck with shit maps not designed around that style of play.

Thinking about it really hits me in the feels, all that talent that Bungie once had wasted and scattered and now all we're left with is Microsofts lazy lackeys with no spines that just want to bleed the franchise for every cent whilst not doing the franchise justice or staying true to the source material.

No, Halo's direction with Reach onward is the issue. Bungie used the armor abilities as more of a test for Destiny and 343 foolishly thought thats what Halo needs to expand on. Removing sprint would cause such a positive domino effect, but we're two games in and millions of fan complaining to remove it and 343 still wont listen.

The filmography of I was terrible at the end. The plot is moving in four different directions at once. It should've been condensed to two.
The CIS's attack on Coruscant at the beginning of III had an asspull explanation and the 10 minute fight between Anakin and Obi at the end was unnecessary.
And Anakin also convinently ignores the fact that Sheev just fucking murdered four jedi masters in a matter of seconds, which would make Sheev a bad guy to anyone, even Anakin, who acts like a cunt throughout both II and III.

If they'd even hinted at the fact that the Flood/Precursors are behind the Didact and Cortana's actions, it'd have helped Halo 5 so much. Not enough to make it a good story, not without some other major changes, but maybe enough to say it was average and pave the way for a Myth Arc in Halo 6.
