Most of the skill in both games is in having an intuitive understanding about what you and your opponents are capable of. Since the heroes and items are all different you have to relearn everything.

And last hitting is really fucking weird because the creeps do delayed damage (which is supposed to make last hitting easier somehow)

Huh, these Warhammer sets are actually pretty good. I mean I don't play any of the heroes who got them but they're definitely among the highest quality for their respective heroes with a few exceptions, and they're not particularly style breaking either. Valve should do more contests, just without the "make our promotional content for us" angle, and straight up sets instead.

The spill is essentially very long, very thin cleave. Even if you can't harass the enemy effectively with it you can still use it to farm like a motherfucker. Your shield makes your laning phase unloseable against many popular mids and even the heroes who counter you can be beaten with good play. You provide free wards for the team and are one of the few heroes who can keep watch on Rosh 24/7 without sacrificing anything. Meld is easy disjoints and huge armor melt. Despite being an early game stomper you continue to dole out carry tier autoattacks through all stages of the game, though your survivability will plummet you shouldn't be picking her without a good initiator anyway.

It was like a slower backstab on a noncloaking nondisguising spy, and Pyro should be lethal at melee range because that's his thing. The self-uber replaced an invisible 90% damage resist. It only applies while he's taunting to activate the weapon's special ability (i.e. Overwatch ulting). It made pubbies mad because they thought 3x damage with flamethrower = time to facerush. You could literally just hide behind a corner for a free kill. The problem with creating kill zones is people will naturally exploit them. I agree it wasn't super-overpowered since you could only kill one guy before getting mowed over, but there is very little counterplay for that one guy which is why people didn't like it.
