Focus on one tentacle until it breaks and recedes underground. Break both this way, it'll fall over and expose the shiny weak point on its back, which is just behind the longest spine on its back.
Do this until it turns around and exposes its face, but don't approach the face until you've broken a tentacle and the blue clouds go away, then focus on the face until it falls again.
Place the anti-dragon bombs on the very tip of its shell, then walk all the way back and mine the shiny spot if you want to make its weapons, because that's your best chance for soul orbs. Attack that once you can't mine anymore.
When it starts firing the red lasers from the tentacles, throw a tranq bomb in its mouth to keep it from firing the oneshot laser. Throw sonic bombs at the tentacles when they have special heads, this'll cause them to smack the shell and break themselves, but they'll keep coming back up with heads until you break the heads yourself.
Don't do it solo if you can, he's not difficult in any sense, but if you're careless he deals a fuckton of damage and he has something like 14k hp. Don't bring gunner weapons that aren't pierce or explosive, his gunner weakpoints are all very low. WE is good if you have it, he always has a point that it activates on available.

I haven't tested it out so I can't say for sure, but other people have said it likely does and I don't see why it wouldn't. However, bow doesn't attack often enough to warrant using repeat offender and the first arrow to hit is the strongest one with spread and rapid, but I can't say for pierce because I don't use it.

I've never actually stopped it from doing the one shot laser. What does that actually do? You can easily simple attack the sides of its head or the tentacles (to be safe) in the meantime.

It one shots you. It deals such a huge amount of damage that it's supposedly basically impossible to survive without either Defender activating or an unreasonable amount of defense. It basically works like Akantor's scream when he drags it from left to right.

No, not the laser, what does he do if you hit him with a tranq before it.

I've seen him charging the giga beam before and he'll do it while you're hacking away at its face. It has a huge amount of start up and you know its coming. Thats why I said you can easily just move out of the way and whack at the sides of its face or the tentacles. He shoots that laser for a good few seconds while slowly attempting to aim in your direction (but never reaching you) before then stopping.

anyone have a good method of farming heavy armor spheres?

Hellblade is top tier as you would expect, but Silverwind is also pretty nice.

In the end just use what you like or think looks cool. The Mizu and the upgraded Rajang LS both look real nice and I prefer them to HB.

One thing that's nice about the Rajang is that it doesn't have a sheathe and is more like a polearm. It also sounds nice when you unsheath and swing it.

Zinogre is creative design for a fight, charging up it's phase two, but some people don't like having a monster leave itself so vulnerable
Stygian zinogre fixed the intimidating walk and this by adding those dragon bursts, forcing a tad bit of thinking instead of just wailing on the thing

This is just what i've seen randoms cart to constantly, not my personal opinion.

hyper jho and hyper silver rathalos absolutely shred randoms, i've failed those quest sub 5 with randoms multiple times.

High pressured water beams in the 30 seconds he's really in the sky kill the most randoms surprisingly, you'd expect it to be the vacuum tornado.

Ukanlos' dig fucks them up, and i've seen my fair share of carts from akantor digging from uner them

A lot of randoms ignore pings to get out of Teo's nova range.

Motherfucker, I've got almost 400 hours and unlocked somewhere in the 60s. I've done the exact opposite of the game.
However, I also prefer armor's looks and skills over defense, with a preference for the latter. Gen is much easier than 4U, and since there's no G-rank I really don't care if I don't have the most perfect setup. Especially because I almost exclusively play solo or with a single friend.

I definitely think I could do with a better set though. What sets do you lot use for Mountainous Roar, Daora Grande, and La Foi? I know the latter sieges both Normal and Pierce but what do you lot gear it towards?

But man im talking how rathalos has been in every game. And in every game he always has good weapons and great armor. And he always has subspecies that are even more obnoxious to fight but are essentially the same thing, and they all have great armor and weapons.

The fights not hard anymore, its not engaging for me either. Everytime i have to fight this old cunt i just turn on a youtube vid and just kind of half assedly fight the fucker. You have to genuinely enjoy having a video game basically use its mechanics or content to tell you "Fuck you, deal with it" to really enjoy FU or any of the MH games prior to that.

"[X Platform] is targeted at [Y demographic]" is determined solely by what software is available on that platform. If Monster Hunter is on the 3DS, then the 3DS is targeted at Monster Hunter's audience.

What matters is that Monster Hunter was POPULAR, and the DS was EXTREMELY POPULAR. It was a safe bet that the 3DS would also be at LEAST as popular as the PSP in Japan (no other platform had nearly the same promise, with or without Monster Hunter), which did eventually turn out to be true (albeit barely, and after a very rocky start). Monster Hunter being on the most popular platform gave it the best chance of maintaining or expanding its popularity.

Platform DOES matter - which is exactly why they moved to the 3DS, despite knowing that a platform in its first year stood no chance of delivering the same sales as the PSP could with a 20m install base.


They "abandoned" the successful-but-aging PSP because they were thinking more than one year ahead, and felt that low sales for one year (likely with a sweetheart deal from Nintendo on publishing licenses, getting help with advertising, a bigger push in the west, etc) would be worthwhile if it helped to cultivate an environment for the 4th-gen games.
