Is the xiv playerbase just really casual? In a ton of guides of Savage/Ex primals I usually see comments like:

In Duty finder you barely ever see any people use savage gear at all.

To be fair, video guides have a tendency to make thing look a lot more complicated than they actually are as they explain every single thing about the fight rather than just the stuff that's pertinent to you and your role and it can be kind of intimidating to someone that's new to anything more than casual content.

If you just focus on what you personally need to do then most content is very simple but seeing a 10 minute long guide that explains in detail every single attack a boss uses is daunting.

It's been a long time since I played TERA so I can't really say anything on that. But just take a second to play a Chinese MMO with the average Chinese player and watch what happens. Like in XIV I can at least expect people to dodge a really telegraphed attack the fifth time they see it. In MHO, I can't trust a Chinese pug not to get danced on by an overgrown chicken. Like it isn't even difficult to see coming, and it isn't even a charge, the thing dances to strafe and it still somehow hits the average pug. It's easier to solo in the game than it is to trust a pug.

XIV players are a lot better in comparison, even if they're the kind of guys that still don't understand the concept of moving away from everyone

What I look out for and judge people on is just basic shit. Can they maintain their buffs/debuffs and perform a normal rotation. Everyone should be able to learn this just while levelling, it's not hard stuff. I don't really give a shit if you don't do a 10/10 opener as long as you can keep your damage consistent.

No one in DF expects 100% efficiency at any level of play, it's ridiculous to expect. When you're leveling a class/job you haven't played, you're certainly not expected to be fully optimizing, certainly not in DF. What you're expected to know is not to use Fire or Fire II while in Umbral Ice. LNC/DRGs are expected to know to actually use Heavy Thrust and to actually combo. You're expected to know the basics of the class/job. In Duty Finder, there are people who don't, and then you're forced to tell them. People might give advice on the way to help you improve, but that's usually light, and the negativity usually only comes when the person receiving the advice says something in their defense instead of just saying "oh, thanks for that". Like WHMs who don't use Holy for the stun in dungeons at least

My complaint was more about people not even grasping the most basic concepts in this game. I could care less about whether or not you're pulling 100% efficient DPS as anything in a roulette, but if you can't even wrap your head around the idea of basic combos then I'm going to be a bit perturbed.

GLD/PLD in leveling content is the most noticeable and worst offender, over half the time I get one as a tank, they're tanking the least out of everyone in the party. One flash then they usually just do whatever the fuck they feel like.
