It's a mod for USF4. Ultras are gone, characters are different, new specials, FADC is replaced by simple EX Cancels (no dash required), every character has multiple supers, no 1f links, fun juggles, etc.

There's literally no reason to not try it out. And no, this isn't the Rainbow Edition of USF4. That would be Koryu Edition which is included in this mod but can only be played through Edition Select.

a lot of fighting game depth (or any game really) comes from unintentional interactions, like plinking.

Once capcom was aware of it they should have fixed it and just increased the window for the commonly plinked links though.

No reason to make your players do bullshit because it's the only way you can get hard.

Instead of "I want to win this match" you must think "i want to land this combo this match" or "I want to escape from this setup once this match"

Then if you achieve that, even if you got bodied, it's a good match because you learned something.

Some people swear by the Dualshock 2's dpad, but if you already play stick, sure, get one for the PS2 or something. Otherwise, just get a couple of adaptors for whatever pads you like. There are other PS2 pads with better dpads, but they're expensive now.

You should strongly consider getting sticks for the Dreamcast, though. The normal dpad is a pain, the control stick is too shallow to put up with motions for long, and most 3rd party pads and adaptors for the system suck.

The Mayflash stick is not that great, even for casual play. You're getting what you pay for with that one.

KoF XI is one of the better games in the series - it was basically the 3rd game in the trinity of competitive play on the PS2 after the UM games came out. It's a little weird, though, even when you take the gimmicks into account.

Nah, I loved the buttons. And riding the gate was fun for a while (I did learn not to do that, though). I just like the dpad more. I would rather have a dpad and have to press buttons with my thumbs/use macros, than to not have the dpad.

I'm a goober myself but even I have to admit that the game is extremely reliant on reads and simply fucking guessing what move the other player is going to use. Sometimes you guess right and are able to punish and sometimes you guess wrong and suddenly you're about to die in 3-4 hits after the combo ends.

Is it fair? I guess since almost any character can do the same besides May and Ky who have low count combos that don't do too much damage. But most people will call bullshit and honestly they have a right to. Guilty Gear punishes players for not being absolutely perfect which is ridiculous.
