The things I would try are running from the executable in the CloD folder rather than usung Steam UI to launch and, if that fails, do a search for "Cloder.exe". I've used that custom .exe in the past and it works well.

High and fast is good, but it can also sorta dogfight down low which is probably where you'll want to head after your Super 530s are gone. I've had a lot of success being a sneaky fuck and bobbing/weaving through mountains and popping up under the enemy's dashboard to fire a quick magic II off while they're head-on with me. Obviously not gonna be possible on certain areas of the map.

The Magic II's seeker head's a bit better now and doesn't give you "what the fuck am I tracking" syndrome as much anymore, you can probably forego the close combat modes/slaving to radar to keep the enemy from realizing they're being attacked until it's too late.

Do missions just sometimes break in this game similar to DCS (part of the reason I stay away from the DCS Campaigns is you can put literally 4 hours of work into a mission and then the ending parametre breaks after you touch down, I had one where an enemy T-80 spawned in a building and wiped out the platoon of M1A1s I was escorting)

Had a couple where I've landed and the mission success hasn't popped, and in this one I was escorting E-7 attack planes and they ended up dogfighting after they expended their bombs instead of RTBing, stuck around as long as I could but eventually had to RTB alone, had to land in order to complete the mission, despite it being a 'quick' one.

I still have no idea how how far to lead for some reason, being on an enemy's tail in a turn fight is probably the worst position for me to be in (probably shouldn't be turnfighting with russians at low level, but it's not their turn rate that gets me, it's me not being able to lead and running out of ammo while we just continually spin around in circles, I have far more luck doing slashing attacks but then I have to fight with the simulated g-forces throwing my head around making it hard to use the collimated sight, the field of view for it is so narrow in this game compared to everything else, and it's dim as fuck)

Any tips?

Don't think E-7s are in this game, at least not BoS and playable. Maybe BoM, E-7s were just the attack planes I was tasked with escorting.

Is there really much of a distance between the G-2 and F-4? I don't know anything about the differences between the variances, I'm just floating between them depending on how much I want to move my cursor when selecting a plane for the mission. One difference I noticed was the F-4s don't have access to the 20mm gunpods, just the 15(?)mm ones.

the G2 is a bit faster, has some extra armor plates, and is heavier, which makes it less turny.

I pretty much always take the gunpods with me when flying a 109 on Wings of Liberty.

But it's a 109. You shouldn't be getting into turnfights in the first place. I prefer to just pelt them with tons of dakka as I pass and set up to do it again.

Though, really, comparing multiplayer to campaign, and either to real life is a bit silly because it's an imperfect sim.

Fuck, most morons in BoS/BoM MP always take 15% fuel. drastically decreasing their mission time but also reducing the chance that they'll spring a leak.. not realizing that in the event that their tank gets hit anyway, they're making it much easier for themselves to run out of fuel and become unable to make it back to the airfield.

Don't worry about it. As long as you fly in the intended flight regime for the chopper, not pulling hard Gs while over speeding for example, they won't collide.

I've managed to descent at 400kmh once without an accident. All you have to do is not pull more than 3g.

DCS has this same bullshit, if you're going to have these overly long missions (comparatively), make sure the god damn scripts work and they don't break. DCS campaign is nigh unplayable because every patch breaks a different trigger, you need to fuck with the configs to progress through the campaign because it's just broken.

Unless I'm missing some secret mechanic as to how it determines when you've finished the mission.

Flight modeling is by far more important. Take the P-51 in DCS and give it the fm's from old Battlefield 1942 and you're left with a plane not worth flying.

You barely touch the cockpit systems after a certain point in most the aircraft anyways but you're still enjoying the shit out flying themy the whole time. Landing your plane should be just as fun and intense as dropping ordinance over an area or getting a BVR kill while simultaneously beaming

I just use the steel wolves mega mod, and that's it. Kills get counted, I've completed a few of the first deadline objectives, not that you have to. Everything works fine.

The one thing you have to remember is, every time you're in port before you start a new patrol, save your game while in the dock area, then load again from that save before you start another patrol. And make sure you follow all the directions installing SW mod, if you're going that route.

This is with the uplay version mind you, steam version has problems with mods.
