Nigga when i'm playing midrange/combo shaman, on every turn after 4 i gotta count possible lethal up to 30 past 30 against warrior with board, hand, and hammer. Also gotta count how much damage the other guy can do in 1 and 2 turns to know how long i can afford to stall.
Then to know how to trade, i have to know what gets me the most value and how many minions i can afford to lose.

Every game involves tons of this shit since nearly all my minions and cards are both removal and pieces of the kill combo (only exceptions are hex and lighting storm). I have to decide very carefully which pieces to give up to retain the maximum damage, with the next several turns in mind.
Rogue also requires this shit, especially in arena.
I guess most classes don't though, mostly because they actually play on curve and each card has a set role. Especially recently with the dumbing down bullshit that brode wants.

1. You can continue using your deck like that, an hybrid that can get a lot of odd hands and focus all over the place, and keep losing

2. You can go full OTK build, and keep losing since it's inconsistent as fuck

3. Or go for a more focused ress priest build, that actually can hold it's own till rank 5 for example and punish Midrange decks like Hunter, the most popular deck on board, and start winning

In 1 and 2 you keep Velen and your shitty deck like you want and continue losing, on case 3 you replace bad cards with good cards and start winning. Funny how that works right? A deck with bad cards like Velen loses, but a deck focused on good cards like Sylvans with powerful sinergies wins. WHO WOULD HAVE KNEW?

There is a difference between "objectively good design" and competitive design.
Meta can shift based on public opinion, so when you create a deck you can actively work against it and succeed, because in a game like Magic the Gathering or Hearthstone you are both the attacker and defender.
Not an "engineer" trying to accomplish a task and solve a problem.
No, you don't need to reinvent the wheel every time you create a deck because yes some cards are better than others, but maybe you can stop and use your brain to stop treating the opinions of others as fact.
Think critically and eventually you might become one of those "pros" that defines the game.

Close out of Bnet entirely, when you open it up set the bnet server to asia but keep your regular play set to your default realm.

Sylvanas is good in most situations but not a finisher like Velen can be.
A combo deck with Velen in it could very well become good when at the moment we're in the middle of an expansion release and playing with cards that are anywhere from 2 weeks to a couple days old, with more on the way.

Once the deck gets figured out would it become "good" to you, similar to how Worgen Warrior came about?
I understand you want evidence and have research done on these cards before you put them in your deck, but at a certain point you have to be the one who takes action and gets their boots on the ground figuring out whether a card is "good" or not.
Because "good" is an ever changing definition when the environment around a card is changing.

Since ONiK is shit and the future outlook for hearthstone is equally shit I will probably drop it at least until next expansion or maybe even longer but I want to satisfy that card game itch with another game.

I have been messing around with duelyst and faeria but can't decide which one I want to commit to since I have no idea how the high ranked meta looks like.

Currently I'm more leaning towards faeria because of the graphics style and aggro decks don't seem that strong (at least at the lower ranks) as well as the whole mana system that makes for a more interesting way of playing instead of just vomiting the strongest minion every turn for all the mana you have.

What are your arguments for / against each of these games? I have seen both, people shitting on faeria and duelyst because they heavily disliked something.

Seriously debating whether it should have 5 Attack or 4.

On one hand, the 4/7 statline is perfectly on curve for 5 mana, with class privilege taken in to account for Taunt and +1 mana added to match Corruption's 1 mana.
Sylvanas also can't kill herself on the body and steal the body the same turn like she would a 5/7. For lore reasons I think she should be able to, cause manipulating Demons is kinda her thing.

You mark the minion to be destroyed at the start of your next turn like Corruption.
I just omitted the "Choose an enemy minion" line from Corruption and changed that to "Battlecry" since a targeting Battlecry doesn't mention when you choose a target, only the action being preformed.

If I really wanted to clear up the text more I could just have it say "Battlecry: Cast 'Corruption' on an enemy minion." but that would require a player to know what 'Corruption' is when it could possibly never make an appearance in the game you're playing.

The way the card works is:
1.Cast Corruption on an enemy minion.
2.Play a Taunt minion (Mannoroth himself).
3.End Turn.
4.Your opponent makes their trades (90% of the time running their Corrupted minion into Mannoroth).
5.Your Mannoroth lives, and the target dies. OR Mannoroth dies at the same time as his target. OR Mannoroth dies tanking, and your opponent's minion dies at the start of your turn.
