What a coincidence, I too have a situation I hate losing against and whenever I play priest, I get to experience it over and over again; aggro decks.

They mindlessly vomit minions onto the board and crusade that "Hurr noing wen 2 traed is skil!" They're right, but that's only because knowing when to trade is true for every single class in the game and is a basic bit of knowledge you need to succeed. You know what sucks ass to lose to? Mindless aggro shaman/zoolock players who haven't had an intelligent thought come through their empty heads for years but win because they can flood the board with garbage and then trade up, which priest can't do. See, while I'm thinking "Hmm, should I entomb this sylvanas when he's going to play c'thun and gain tempo, or sacrifice one of my minions (Which I won't have since I can't get on the board anyways) and save it?" aggro players are thinking "DURR ME DID IT ME PLAY COUNCILMAN WIT FORBIDEN WRITUAAL, ME SO CLEVER!" like it's an achievement. Control decks require planning and prior knowledge of the opponent's deck, while aggro requires you to think, very lightly, on whether you should ram a 5/5 with power overwhelming into a 5/5 taunt.

I mean, I netdecked an aggro shaman deck and got 7 straight wins on ladder, why am I not considered one of the best hearthstone players ever? The answer, of course, is because aggro doesn't actually require a lot of thinking. So what's better, knowing you lost to someone who's been strategically plotting his moves against you 2 turns in advance, or the monkey playing aggro?

Old Flare actually say play for its purpose. Current flare has never been played seriously even in the most secret-heavy metas.

Flare is also literally always playable without downsides, whereas Purify requires a condition and can be downright detrimental unless you meet a more specific condition.

That's a lie. Flare is never played, for it's effect or otherwise. Similarly, Purify was balanced so that it would never be played at all. There is no deck or meta in which Purify is a viable card.

Have you ever actually played Priest? Replacing a card in your deck with with a low/zero-value cycle when your goal is to outlast the opponent is an enormous cost.

Add in the fact that you actually have to cast the card to cycle it, and it's blatantly clear that even 1 mana Purify wouldn't see play in a lot of Priest decks.

These cards are fundamentally cycle cards, like almost every card that says "X. Draw a card."
Some classes don't have any of them at all, since blizz doesn't want them to be able to cycle (eg shaman).

There should be a neutral minion for each mana cost that becomes a random 1 mana better minion when you play it.

IE a 2-drop that has battlecry: transform into a random 3-mana minion. Along with an equivalent for each mana cost (besides maybe 8-10).

They could be the game's new standard for big low-synergy minions, since shit like Yeti and Boulderfist don't cut it anymore.

What about, instead of stealing things, Priest had more disruption mechanics like this?

It'd be somewhat effective vs curvestone decks (e.g. a turn 2 Mind Crush would block your opponent's Totem Golem / Alex's Champ / Huge Toad, buying you time / life to draw into your clears).

Also gives Priest a way to sort-of combat combo decks (e.g. play this after you get alex'd by freeze mage, or when there's a stealthed gadgetzan).

How did Dr. Boom even come to be?

I never played during his period, but how did he manage to not get nerfed ever?

He is easily the single most OP card ever released in hearthstone. There were no downsides to him, he was a 7/7 drop that created tokens with a very valuable deathratte with no drawbacks whatsoever. Nevermind the fact 7/7 is a good statline for a 7 mana drop by itself, the tokens were also hard to deal with and had a net positive effect on death. In the worst possible scenario (tokens die without hitting anything and without deathrattle going off) he's still just a War Golem.

How did this never get nerfed? He was auto-include and was always under any circumstances the optimal play on turn 7 if he was in your hand.

Because the card is bullshit, you play it on turn 2 or 3 and completely disrupt the other persons turn, even in late game it is effectively a 2 mana heal 7

Its such a fucking poorly designed card because it has no real counters, you always lose tempo when you are dealing with the card

Blizzard's allergic to admitting mistakes, and since he was a neutral he was "balanced" between classes since everyone ran a copy.
A handful of absurdly OP class cards actually were nerfed (most importantly 4 or so hunter cards): their gamebreaking power was worse since only 1 class could run them.

Blizz also generally realized they could cut development costs by pretending they're a physical card game (which can't easily modify cards once printed).
Standard was basically their solution for shit like Boom, and i wouldn't be surprised if they were planning it from early on.

It's hard as hell, especially in this meta, but i've probably managed around 50/50 against priests.
Gotta be ready for the excavated evils, they always seem to draw them perfectly. Make sure you're not massively overloaded the turn after since you won't be able to refill the board.
Hex their shit early to murder their rez pool. Even if you have to hex something shitty.
Enjoy it when they pull your utter garbage class cards like ancestral healing and totem buffs (shaman is shit in arena for a reason) and focus on any spell power they play since they can get lightning storm and demolish your shit.
And you probably know the rest, eg save 4-attack minions, be aggressive, etc.

On top of this, they also added the 1 mana weapon to a class that gets spell damage from the hero power.
Mage actually needs to sacrifice a slot in the deck for spell power, which currently isn't that big of a deal because of the 2 drop from the Old Gods.

Shaman is objectively a better mage than Mage with all the idiotic cheap spells that have synergy with Trogg and the "negative" side can easily be nullified by a 2 mana spell or 2 mana minion that has normal stats.

I personally believe "midrange" Shaman is better, but aggro is still good. And should give you free wins against quite a few match ups.

It's a fine deck to learn and do your beginner quests and climb to rank20, Mage has very strong basic cards. I'd throw away Ogres they are too slow. Buy an Old Gods pack with your starting 100 gold and you'll get Chtun for free.
Read on all the beginer quests to get more gold and packs.
