CK2 is by far the one I've played the most of. I fucked with EU4 first but it didn't make sense to me. I think it will when I go back to it after CK2 but CK2 is where the basics "clicked" for me. I think it's great fun, and very interesting, but I can see why people call them autism simulators. They're not for everyone. I just got the 12 bloodtinge to equip it (and only for this reason - I'm strength/vit build) and the first thing I noticed was crazy health drain. How do you make that not suck?

It's a BLT weapon, if you want to use it properly you need 50 BLT. The health drain sucks but it's mitigated by only having it in tricked mode when fighting (swap back and forth using transform attacks) and having a +5 health regen gem on your gun.

Use the tricked form sparingly. The transformation attacks are some of the most powerful moves, you can get by on them alone. Secondly, make a bloodtinge build for the Chikage, the health drain is worth it when you're dishing out the damage you can do with a pure blt build. Also the tricked charge R2 is god-tier.

Bloodtinge builds are fun. You're limited to only three weapons, the Chikage, Bloodletter, and Bowblade, and the Chikage is locked behind Logarus while the others are late in the DLC, but they're all great weapons. Your guns will actually do serious damage too, there's a webm floating around of a blt build shooting NG+ Cleric Beast to death.

They take a bit of time to get started, because the Evelyn, the best gun, is also behind Logarius, but once they do they're hella fun.

You'll need a strength of 10 for the Chikage, and 14 for the Bloodletter. Chikage needs 14 skill, and Bowblade requires 15, so any investment into those stats will be to meet those baseline requirements. Otherwise, everything goes into Vitality and Bloodtinge, and once you get those both to 50, you put the rest into Endurance.

The starting weapons will be the best, but Logarius will still be a bitch if you rush straight to him via Cleric Beast-Gascoigne-Amelia-Witches, so I'd suggest asking here for help if you ever find yourself needing it. But once you beat Logarius and get the Chikage and Evelyn things get a lot easier.

BBG I no longer have to travel for work and want to beat bloodborne after having played a collected 100 hours between 2 characters. 70 + hours on my blind run character, and then just shy of 30 on a build me and my friend made for a speed run even though it was his blind run and I had never beaten ROM on my other save.

What tips hints and general shenanigans can you give me? I know blood is important. I have eyes wont say how many or where they are. Haven't bought the DLC yet but will as soon as I beat the game the first time. I also need to know which places are optional to complete the game.

please describe any place you name since I am not familiar with them. In my blind run I have beaten ROM and am in the dreamland place with the fuzzy electro guys. The place that an amygdala takes you when you have the kidney stone. Not sure where to go or what to do once I beat it but I think scary yharnam is past that door the amygdala grabbed me from.

The 26-30 hour run character we found a bunch of stuff so I know a little bit about places I haven't been to in my main save.

You'll get Vermin as a reward and once you've crushed 5 you could talk to Valtr, reload the area and the see what happens. I won't spoil it but it's kinda cool when you summon him after that.

You have to remember, we're seeing everything at it's worst. We're seeing Yharnam on the night of the Mensis Ritual, we're seeing Byrgenwerth long after it has been abandoned, we're seeing the Research Hall inside of an alien nightmare dimension. It wasn't always like this, but now it is, and that's what matters. People had lives in Yharnam, had jobs and families and routines.

It's also partly the game's Lovecraftian influence, in his stories, whenever we're shown some alien civilization, it's always either on the downfall or already dead. The people of The Mound, the Yithians, the Elder Things, it's all in decline or long destroyed.

Historically, whatever the Great Ones have been involved in never turns out well. The Pthumerians first made contact and now the ruins of their civilization are filled with undeads and monsters. The Healing Church as an organization is made of regular lay people, clergy folk, blood saints and the upper echelons, the Vatican, if you will. These are The School of Mensis and The Choir, rival factions within the Church doing their own spooky shit. First, there was Byrgenwerth, a place of learning which discovered the Pthumerian ruins and the Great Ones and the Old Blood and decided to try and evolve humanity past its meagre limitations. Byrgenwerth today is totally empty save for Willem who still sits before the Moonside Lake turning into a mushroom. He points you towards the lake because Mensis is part of the Church and fuck them.

The Mensis Ritual was the School of Mensis' big plan to beckon the Moon Presence with Mergo, as Great Ones desire surrogate children, and in fine Gothic and Lovecraftian fashion, it absolutely all falls to shit.

Mensis was using Rom to hide the effects of their ritual, when you kill Rom, the sky turns cosmic and the blood moon suddenly appears, and gives you direct access to their base of the operations in the Nightmare.

It couldn't be anyone except the player given that every other baby was a miscarriage of a Great One. But Great Ones are said to inhabit dreams, not Nightmares. What makes it a Nightmare Newborn?

Great Ones can be broken into two categories: those who are sympathetic in spirit, as it's said, and those who are not. Rom can be excluded as she's a vacuous piece of shit, but Ebrietas definitely fits the bill as sympathetic. She willingly gave her precious healing blood to the church, was probably friends with Rom before her death as seen by her mourning the spider carcass, and is able to be called upon for the spell to defend her wielder. Compare this to any Amygdala or the Moon Presence, who are fucking assholes who just want to be pieces of shit all day. Amygdala gave Patches the body of a spider out of this very desire to be a fucker, for instance. Now, from a human perspective one is good and one is evil. I know the idea of objective morality sort of loses meaning when you're looking at a group of beings which are so much above us we may as well be dogs to them, but from the moral standpoint of the good of the human race and, in a smaller scale, Yharnam, Ebrietas is 'good' and every Amygdala aside from the few that just observe the player instead of fucking with him are 'evil'.

Well, the Healing Church is a big organization, Mensis is one part of it. Mensis probably fucked off into the Nightmare to better do their spookiness, and that might very well have been a while ago, or they suffered the same fate as the people in Yahar'gul lining the walls. The actual scope of time in the game is probably the most vague thing, to be honest.

The Brain of Mensis appears to have been found or made BY Mensis in the Nightmare. It's a Great One, just all fucked up and rotten, whether a 'naturally' occurring Great One or some kind of ascended human, we don't know, all we know is it's a 'legitimate Great One'. Check out the Living String item description. It's essentially a giant Winter Lantern, and like them, it's body is composed of Messengers.

As for good and bad Great Ones, I just don't really buy into that concept. It's a very un-Lovecraftian concept and anathema to cosmic horror's ideals. Truth is, we really don't know the actual backstory behind all that transpired and trying to apply human morality to transdimensional aliens seems utterly futile. Did Ebrietas actually just lie down and give us blood, or insight? Did we take it? Is that carcass Rom or a previous Rom-like spider? The Amygdalae seem almost animalistic and serve to facilitate transportation into the Nightmare if you have the right ticket. They hang around and stare, or grab, or fire lasers like a defense system. Some may not even be actual Great Ones, since Rom and the Amys bleed red like humans.

The Brain is canonically Mensis, dawg. The cord Mergo drops states as much. And it's worth nothing that no human has ever successfully became a Great One before the Hunter, and we don't actually know how that's worked because they turned into a squid as opposed to making a meaningful transformation into something Great.

Ebrietas is a badass, man. If she doesn't want you to take her blood it does Frenzy instead of healing. Not to mention she's just generally pretty powerful. I doubt someone below Gerhman levels would put up a challenge for her, let alone be able to use her blood. And the fact that she mourned any Vacuous Spider means she had reason to, showing some relationship before they went brainless.

All Great Ones bleed red. The redder the blood, the stronger the being. Every mention of Paleblood refers to Doll in some way, and aside from the Celestial Emissary she's the only enemy that actually has white blood. I mean shit, Ebrietas's blood is deep red and the Moon Presence has what is essentially cherry syrup through his veins.

The Brain was retrieved from the Nightmare, whatever that means in relation to the real world, but that doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't made there. Mensis's goal was, after all, to ascend. They retrieved the Brain from the Nightmare as they wanted, lined with eyes as they wanted, but the brain was rotten, as Mergo did to the Mensisians who made contact with him. It could be summarized then that Mensis recovering the brain was like taking their expedition team back. Especially since 'retrieve' is a word with the specific meaning of taking something back, and these games generally phrase things very carefully. I doubt the word retrieve would've been the one chosen if it wasn't what they meant.

"Seek paleblood to transcend the hunt" refers to the Doll leveling up hunters by infusing them with Blood Echoes so they can ascend above the role of just beast executioner.

"The Nameless Moon Presence beckoned by Laurence and his associates. Paleblood." could relate to the enemy named Moon Presence, but as I've stated that thing's blood isn't pale, so it can't actually be. In addition the Hunter's Dream isn't its creation, as it stays up even after its death. "Laurence and his associates" obviously refers to Gehrman, who begs Laurence in his sleep to come save him. In addition, Gehrman built the doll, yearning for a friend, and as you know Great Ones are sympathetic and often answer when called to. The description for the doll's tears says it'd be severely naive to cherish something like a doll's tears,and right at the end of the game you become a surrogate child for the doll. It can't be any more obvious that the Doll is what's meant by this note.

"Behold! A Paleblood sky!" and the note from Old Yharnam talking about the Red Moon are interesting, however. The latter implies that the Mensis Ritual has occurred before, which means the former isn't necessarily even for that cycle's so-called paleblood sky. And this... I have no idea about any of this. It doesn't even relate to the named Moon Presence.

My only problem here is what about Oedon, the formless Great One who exists merely as a sound? I always thought Oedon WAS the echoes of blood, Oedon is the thing making you strong. Their blood? The Doll? The Mensis Ritual? It seems to be left intentionally vague and answer-less, which I like to extent, but it is frustrating. Also, would it be easier to just carry the Kos Parasite onto NG+ or start a NG entirely and get the rune and weapon? My NG+ is a strength build, though, so it might be weird. Then again, NG will require me to go through the DLC to get what I want.

If the idea is that Great Ones warp existence itself with their being, like Mergo somehow being a newborn in the modern time despite having been born a very long time ago indeed and people turning into beasts when exposed to Great One blood, then Oedon's existence is perfectly justified. It seems like whatever Eldritch Truth you realize is what gives you your ascension, with merely having the epiphany not being enough. For instance, things designed to pump the eldritch truth into people like the Garden of Eyes and the Winter Lanterns, things that leak it and exude it from every pore, those aren't Great Ones. They know the truth, or at least some of it, but they're not there. But Rom and the Brain of Mensis are Great Ones that don't know the Eldritch Truth on account of being essentially braindead. They might have it in an instinctual level, but they can't grasp it any more than a human can. You need both the eldritch truth and the essence of a Great One's birth, and that seems to dictate what you become. Rom used the Orphan's cord, as far as we know, and became a tool that held the Nightmare in check and prevented reality from crumbling. The Brain, most likely, used Mergo's, and the result was for it to become a mindless weapon. For Oedon to become no less than a concept, a universal force, it had some serious fuckery behind its transformation. Or maybe Oedon is the reason Great Ones come about, and it's not a being but a phenomenon? An unwitting part of the ritual of beckoning a Great One with womb, no less conscious than the Vacuous Spider?

Quick question

Is it possible to find the crow hunter badge in a chalice dungeon? Another website said it was but gave no further info. I'm on my first play through blind and pretty sure I missed the Eileen NPC quest. I'm almost at Mergo so I'm pretty far through the main story.

I'm fairly certain that if you at least started the questline, she'll show up in the Grand Cathedral and you can fight her for the badge. The Hunter of Hunters rune, however, can only be obtained by going through her questline in its entirety.

I checked the Grand Cathedral and she wasn't there, unless I have to travel from a different lantern in order to trigger her. I honestly can't remember if I spoke to her back in Central Yharnam in the beginning of the game or not.

I'm only concerned with the badge right now, ultimately to get the weapons trophy.

Yep I initially checked her first spot but she wasn't there. I also just ran from the Cath Ward to the Grand Cath and that didn't trigger her. I must have missed the quest completely.

You can get the Uncanny and Lost versions of the Blade of Mercy in the dungeons, but I don't think that will count towards the trophy. Best to just go NG+. Sorry, man.

If I have 4 sedatives held but 2 stored, how do I transfer them over? Normally for blood vials they transfer when I travel back to hunters dream but other items don't seem to behave the same.
