The ones that areost posted here are Crusader Kings 2 (feudalism, Crusades, Mongol invasion, etc.), Europa Universalis 4 (Mercantilism, Age of Enlightenment, etc.), Victoria 2 (Industrial Revolution, Scramble for Africa, WW1, etc.), Hearts of Iron 3 (WW2) and Darkest Hour (WW1 up to the start of the Cold War). We would get a Cold War game some time ago but, like in every company, we got that one big jackass who always fucks up and ruins everyone's fun.

What are some unironic new pop types you would add to the game?

I would add colonists: state-funded, specialized groups of people who have an extremely high colonial migration rate and thus will allow you to send people to your colonies no matter how good or shitty the conditions in your homeland are.

They would get paid off the administration budget and buy a large variety of goods for their needs: mainly goods they need for any colonization efforts such as guns, ammo, fertilizer, explosives, cement etc.

Once they migrate to a colony they will promote into farmers/labourers, clergymen, soldiers, bureaucrats and landowners at a higher rate.

Like I said, it's a way for a government to send well-trained people to develop their colonies if they can afford it and if no ordinary citizens are willing to go there by their own.

Simple: colonists ONLY promote into something else in a large scale when they're living in a colony.

If they're living in a state, they wouldn't promote into something else UNLESS your admin spending is too low, which basically means they aren't being paid (enough). Regardless it wouldn't really matter, as they're expected to slowly move to colonies. You can't promote them in a colony.

If at any moment you lose your colonies, you get an event that promotes them back into farmers or labourers.

The only real problem with this is that New World countries can't get any colonization to outside their continent, so you would have to remove all instances of is_overseas = yes to make it work for everyone.

How do I have fun in CK2?

Every game I start is just me messing around for a while until some bullshit civil war happens and I lose everything.

That's usually starting from being a French King or Emperor of the HRE or Byzantium but also if I start small like an independent count as soon as I expand enough and get vassals they start wanting to take away my power.

It got much worse with the council update where I'm not even allowed to TRY get things under control.

I absolutely understand this is historical and makes sense and a big part of the gameplay but I don't know how to deal with it and it takes away part of the fun.

Check who your most powerful vassals are and make sure their opinion of you is positive so they're less likely to fuck you (they will still fuck you). Keep at least 300 gold in your treasury so you can hire mercenaries in an emergency (300 is enough to hire the 2400-man ones and keep them for a few months, which should be sufficient to destroy the main rebel army).

If you're too weak, consider giving in if the civil war is over something like "increase council power," because the consequences of that aren't particularly severe and you can reverse them after awhile.

Reminder that HPM doesn't want to include important trade cities/trading posts in the game, critically important settlements like Dejima in Japan are completely disregarded by him, despite people bringing this up several times.

Who cares if it's small or not? It's still extremely important, you can't just not have it in the game and treat the Netherlands and the Shogunate as if they had no relationships or contact whatsoever.

Countries like Andorra, Lietchenstein, Monaco etc. are just small and completely irrelevant and probably not a real priority, but it's not the same for areas like Dejima.

If Dejima were a tiny trading post while hundreds of other trading posts existed in Japan, it wouldn't matter. But it's the only trading post in Japan where westerners are allowed to dock in and trade, the only place where Japan was able to get any contact with the exterior.

You can't just ignore it, especially as Japan inevitably becomes a very relevant country later on. Relevant countries need more flavour, especially if it's easily available and well known like Dejima.

Japan also got its first steamship from the Netherlands there, could represent that too.

Sure, you get events and the such, but in the eyes of the game both countries have no business with each other. No presence at all. If for some reason you have ships in that area where you historically had a presence, tough luck, they'll die of attrition since you can't dock.

Adding the province really isn't that much of a deal, I don't know why people are sperging out so much. It wouldn't make the map excessively ugly, neither is it annoying.

I've been trying to get Empire of Francia up for 200 years. I had both Aquitaine and West Francia, but I lost Aquitaine because of the elective system + my ruler dying suddenly + gravelkind + me not being able to destroy the title in the first place.

Since that I've lost my original claim on Aquitaine and am pretty much fucked. The Kingdom of Burgundy also spouted up and those two kingdoms have the dejure counties, but I can't fucking take them over since they're both elective and getting claims is nearly impossible.

I've been conquering the fags up North on their island but I'm getting tired of not being an emperor. At this point I almost want to just marry someone with claim to Byzantine and fucking invade those bastards with my multiple allies.
