As far as I know there are various chain of events that may or may not make you inmortal, and I think the chain of events you get is based on your culture/religion.

For example, me as a Norse Johan went through some events about finding an apple that make you younger or something like that. I died at the end so I don't what would've happened.

In Daniel's stream he became inmortal with the guidance of some indian child.

And a few days ago I saw someone playing in Spain who after the events, died and his soul moved to the body of his child, thus creating a baby that had all the traits of his father.

At least there seems to be some variety on it.

Are there other variants of the disfigured mask? I swapped cultures around to see if there were other variations, but it wasn't changing. I thought I saw a Kingdom of Heaven esque one in the dev diaries, though.

Start as Krakow and decrease relations with Austria and then increase with Russia. Sometime around 1842 you should get into Russia's sphere when you do you need to have a acquire state CB against Austria and instantly declare war with Russia on your side.

When annexing conquered territory you'll obviously gain their factories too so you can think of the military factories as an investment in civilian factories. During my Romania game I think I first conquered Poland and then Yugoslavia. That's a good number of early-ish factories.

Also afterwards I joined comintern and destroyed the central axis powers, then left comintern and conquered the soviets.

Again it depends on the situation but how many military factories would you miss out on waiting for WT to raise?

Even several military factories can make a huge difference for a small minor like Romania. And you should be going to war as early as possible so that you can double/triple your factory account through annexation.

Wait too long and you'll find yourself in a war against the allies, fascists, etc.
