Things go as normal for the most part during the war. Mackenzie King supports the British war effort as he did in the original timeline, though since the war seems increasingly hopeless he ignores the pleas of English Canada and decides not to enact any type of consciption, but it doesn't make a difference since Britain surrenders very soon after. Since the UK lost the war and the US remains isolationist, St. Laurent decides to pursue a more autonomist position of being allied to the United States and seeing Canada confine itself more or less exclusively to the American continent, and avoid foreign interventions. He enjoys the support of Maurice Duplessis' Quebec government and of French Canadians in general.

Now, contrary to St. Laurent's vision of a Canada that is more or less independent of Britain and free to act on its own, Adrien Arcand is released from prison and resumes activity in politics, managing to win a seat in parliament with the Unity Party. Contrary to St. Laurent's isolationism, Arcand wants to have strong ties to Fascist Britain and adopt Fascist policies in Canada. As well, (like in real life) Arcand is a huge admirer of Adolf Hitler and the success of the Reich. Because of his strong pro-British stance, he enjoys massive support in Anglo Canada. Arcand's building of strong ties with Germany worries some Americans, since it might grant the Reich a staging ground for future expansion.

Other than that, it sound interesting to give the player some choices, I'll consider adding it. I was thinking, since the UK isn't actually fascist, they just surrender and keep the royal family and all of that, and lose most of their colonies. At some point, Mussolini can make a coup or something, and get rid of his King, and then after some years, the economy crashes, and they can move away from Germany, and try to ally the UK, maybe Spain and Portugal too. Then, they can form their own little faction, to defend themselves from Germany. Canada also should have a bigger navy and all of that, since the US is going to be isolationist at the start of the game.

South Brazil, Uruguay and the Buenos Aires province attracted a shitton of Italians in the time period. On Thailand, there's no reasoning behind it, just seems like the obvious choice to an emerging Mediterrean super power that can rival the UK and is scrambling for the last colonies in the world. Italian Thailand sounds even better than French Indochina desu.
That said, I feel like redoing all of these. For instance, the Polish one is already quite historical when it comes to their colonization attempts, but I feel like it's too blobby in the mainland and the layout doesn't look as good as France's. I also missed the obvious Andaman Islands in Italy, so yeah I really need to polish these 4 up.

So I'm West Francia. I have strong claim on Aquitaine since it used to be my father's before he was killed. It has elective succession, or at least did before I died. The ruler of Lotharingia is my father in law and we're allies, so I'd probably have his back if I declared war.

I'm not sure if it's worth it though since it's elective. My uncle's vassals like him a lot since he's Quick and shit (even though he lost a bunch of the territory i originally won to Muslims, dumbass). I feel like it's more hassle than it's worth because I'm not sure I'd be able to get Empire of Francia up before my current ruler dies.

Should I just go north and try to take the various petty kingdoms instead?

Franco, however, while using fascist symbols and allies for his political gain, was in fact a rather traditionalist/reactionary guy, or a conservative, depending on how you see it.
Another thing is that his Spanish State didn't have a totalitarian view of culture like a true fascist state should have.
Furthermore, the Falangist groups, even today, say that Franco wasn't a true Falangist/fascist.

I could go into more detail about the differences between an authoritarian state and a totalitarian state but that's long. In short, Franco was a presdiential dictatorship, not a fascist one.

Get it on the sale, with the new patch a lot of the garbage shit like coalitions can become optional. I just recently got the dlc and its alright, I was half-expecting council civil wars every other year but I've been pleasantly surprised.

If you're a vassal, you finally have some incentive to be apart of the council of your liege, and you have greater room to intrigue. The only thing that I haven't gotten used to is the bizarre new education system.

Germany in WW1 did the same thing - they wanted to wage war at all costs because Russian army was led by a corrupt conservative chief of army. If i recall he had deal with English companies to only import machineguns from abroad so he could buy trinkets for his trophy wife. So German high command reasoned - if Russia would end up with a good reformer they would simply be outmanned and outgunned after initial mobilization bonus.
