Shepard sent Miranda and a bunch of other B-list squadmates to do the Omega mission in his place, Garrus and Kasumi got together, Leng turned into an unrecognizable Reaper creature for the final battle, Sanctuary mission is replaced in function by Leviathan (so they never go to Horizon), Shepard still converses with the now less hostile Saren ghost/cyborg memory remnant/hallucination in his dreams, and some other stuff I'm probably forgetting.

Not even /a/ is this bad though. Not even close to it. /a/ and most weebs only make fun of that stereotype, which was Kai Leng's problem; the fact that the character took himself way too seriously and the people around him never called him out on his obvious bullshit.
It feels more like he's written by some normie-weeb who only watches Naruto or something and who thinks that's what kids like these days.

I don't mind Aria and TIM nearly as much. Sure, they're way too competent but they fit the setting of your cliche space opera story. TIM as the literal mysterious smoking man and Aria as the Madame/Crime boss.

Kai Leng was just completely out of place, no matter how you look at it. He's a literal space-ninja, it's just pure nonsense. The fact that he got all his background established outside of the fucking games made it even worse.

Leng should have tied in with Shepard's past actions on Akuze, Torfan or Elysium.

-For Akuze Leng blames Shepard for getting some close to him killed like his wife, girlfriend, brother/sister
-For Torfan it can be the same thing when its stated in the first minute of the game that Shepard got most of his unit killed there. So again Leng could be mega pissed for that
-For Elysium again Leng could be mega pissed at Shepard for managing to save the colony but someone close to him was lost, or he could have been a member of Shepard's unit that lived but didn't receive any recognition for their contribution in stopping the raid.
