Like if I have a table of 100,000 indexes. How can I check each index one by one to see if table.value == true? So if the 5th index has a value that equals true it stops there instead of iterating through the entire table.

I assume that you want the loop to stop when playing is false. In that case replace

while playing do

end
with

if table.Count(Players) < 2

The moment the break statement is executed (i.e the moment there are less then two players) the while loop will exit. You should only have to put this if statement in your loop once. Probably at the end of your loop. I can't say for sure because I don't know what you are trying to do.

Honestly, the point of TUSSLE is to be a big hodgepodge of bullshit characters. You want a balanced game, go play a real video game. This is a game where Sans and Garnet can team up against Spelunky and Dickbutt. Making tons of clashing characters is the fun of the game.

I have a pool of bullets and I wanted to check for the first bullet that active = false and then return the index.

I can now use that index to fill it with bullet information and then make it active. The break works perfectly.

They are abused a lot for a very fake retro style. I think they are an okay compromise when you have to scale up a sprite for some reason but don't have the resources to make a higher resolution version. An example is the bosses in Super Mario World are stretched using mode 7 producing mixels.

Brainstorming my subweapon ammo system and how replenishing it works.

Right now, you either have to pick up the same subweapon again, a backpack, or use up all of your subweapon ammo, and wait for a restock timer (ten seconds or so) to give you back your ammo as if you just picked up the subweapon for the first time.

I had someone make a fairly long list of complaints, and he mentioned that among a few other things, I don't want to completely disregard the guy but I feel things are fine the way they are now.

it was a response to this. I find this sort of music not heavy at all after a kind of connotation is dropped about I don't know, it trying to seem dark or something. It's not really. It's kind of sensual, with a kind of sexy blues thing going on. I make a class for an actor in C++. Then I place the actor in the world. Afterwards I make changes to its class in C++ that should be visible on the model, but the actor that I placed before I made the changes does not change. All the instances of that actor class that I place afterwards come with the changes I've made, so if I want to see the changes on my old actor I have to delete it and place a new one exactly where it was, which is getting tedious fast. There are some work-arounds you can try.

1.Spawn the actor at run-time.

2.Make the changes in the Construction tab for BP. These get applied internally before the actor is spawned in the world, so anything you do there will be changed. (Probably)

3. Either compile or restart the editor, depending on whether you use blueprints or C++. This would take the same amount of time I guess, but it's better if you have multiple actors placed.

You can - these are special, room doors. Pic related would be a room, which is connected to other rooms. There can be doors inside a room that you would interact with normally, but there are also these ones to change room. This lets me control the size and difficulty of dungeon pieces more easily.

A few were actually pure gold and fun to play.

I wouldn't be opposed to a console that worked off of that idea. But that would require baseline games that could be iterated upon, a way of determining which variations are good and maybe even some way of combining games into weird amalgams.

I had to hang the development of my space jam project almost as soon as I started it because some other work came up. But here i'em again with some free time on my hands. I've been working on my first game, but I didn't want to post it here until it stopped being shit.
I've now realised it's never going to not be shit, so I decided I might as well post it here anyway.

It's basically just going to be a top down adventure game similar to Legend of Zelda, here's a webm showing some of the stuff I've made so far.
Obviously all current art is temporary, and also I plan on giving the player more abilities as the game goes on, and then ramping up the enemies so that they require you to use those new abilities to fight them effectively.

Thanks to everyone who joined the stream today! Alot got accomplished this morning.

Finally added Soul Fragments to the game as a reward that can spawn when you clear a room. Collect enough of these and your max health will increase. It's sort of inspired by Pieces of Heart from Zelda. I mean, it borrows from them.

Also squashed about 10 bugs and did some balancing stuff. And slopes don't slow you down anymore, since that seemed to be something everyone hated.

Some progress...

I have a couple powers (cutter, flame) and basic suck / shoot ability.

Adding enemies now. Should have something ready for demo day.

After that I might reskin the main character to be less obviously kirby.

I was working on this for lewdjam but I don't really know how to make incorporate lewdness into the gameplay mechanics.

Anyone here ever used jMonkeyEngine? A friend was telling me about it the other day. He seemed to really like it since he's more used to Java than C. I've only watched a couple videos on it, but it looks a bit rough still. It's pretty neat that it has some built-in stuff for Blender and a terrain editor. The gameplay is pretty much there, with losing conditions and everything. I just need to add a lot of visual cues, sound, etc.

Basically you're a sword smith, and you have to carry out incoming orders. Copper swords, gold katanas (which have to be folded 100 times), etc. If you take too long for an order then you get a strike, 3 strikes and game over. It's a good idea for a 2 day jam, I just wish I knew how to draw.

You are making a game. Ask yourself the question how important is the story to your game. Many people enjoyed games like Tales of Abyss and they were heavily focused on story. Nier too. The Gameplay was trash in Nier but the story was great so people still liked it.

Anybody who says otherwise is speaking in absolutes and just wants everything to be made to cater to them, but no matter which you choose and what order it's still the individual who buys your games choice of what they find most important, and autisticly arguing on the internet will not change how they have fun.

What's the best way to handle buttons programmatically?

Yes, and I can assure you it is entirely possible to not get hit on this boss. Phase 3 is the only hard part, since it does 3 attacks at once, you just have to not panic and remember that the ice block does things. Planting the ice block on the right side after every attack string is probably the best way to handle all combinations. I'll probably increase the length of time it takes for him to do an attack string though, as he seems a bit too aggressive. Especially in the last phase.

You may be thinking of "8-bit games didn't have mixels" or "this game that claims to be 8/16-bit is doing PlayStation/Saturn-esque rendering effects", and you'd be right in those cases. I'm trying to make a sprite rotate towards the direction it is moving. I almost got it working, but it is currently snapping to one of 8 directions when the sprite stops moving.

This is what I have just after apply force.

try either only changing the direction when it's speeding up/moving constantly or change your speed decreasing code so it keeps the direction of movement at all times rather than working on speed on two axes completely separately

izi bro. every place it changes direction you create an object if you using unity just create an empty game object make it a prefab. you dont even need to create it in the scene, if you want instead just create a list of vector3(im using this approach). Well basicly put all the points inside a list or array. then simply :
// make the character show up on the first position of the list
transform.position = listOfPoints[0];
//now cycle through the list and make it walk to the next point I suggest you do it in a coroutine;
iEnumrator WalkPath (){
for(int i = 0, i< listOfPoints.Count +1, i++){
