I just updated the OP mod pastebin with 50 or so mods and removed a couple which I knew had fallen out of date. I will update the mega repository with all of them as well as soon as I switch back to wired internet. Question regarding the Guerilla Ops and Bases.

I'm right next to two Alien Bases (in on the US East Coast, one in Eastern Europe). My current Guerilla Ops choices are to prevent Armor being added to some enemies, stop intel costs from going up 100%, or to prevent 1 extra Avatar bar from being added.

Can I basically ignore the extra bar one, since I will immediately after raid a base and prevent it from even activating? Which one should I do?

I have all the Tier 2 weapons and armor.

PS, is now a good time to do the DLC missions?

The Xcom plasma doesn't have the vents or whatever those cylinders are on the barrel of the viper one, it also doesn't have the two cylinders the viper one has behind the rotating lens core thing. The Xcom one is also covered in holes and lines for some reason, and it has about 50% more curves. Even the barrel, or those rail things look different. The alien weapons also have a constant plasma ball thing floating right there in the center.

10% of the guns is similar(the "barrel" and the core) while everything else is different.

But i was mostly referring to the armor, the armor vipers, mutons and advent wear is completely different from the Xcom power armor.

That said, i don't particularly dislike or hate the design of the T3 stuff. It still doesn't make sense that you go from barely finished looking weapons and armor in T2 to some super sci fi alien looking gear.

I guess this looks ok, the problem now is that when the soldier is just standing around idling he still holds the weapon normally, and i'm not quite sure where to change that, it might not even be worth changing. But also the hand right now when it's in it's normal position goes through the weapon's model, and just changing the hand's position with the socket system makes it so he's not holding the foregrip anymore because the hand ends up bellow it. So i guess i have to make the weapon less tall now.

The mission throws at you non fucking stop enemies that dont do a whole lot, but if they stack up they can fuck your day up.

Also what is the point of SPARK? He has a ballistic rifle from the looks of it and i dont have a kinectic punch, what do i need to research to get that fucker punching ayliums?

It's a nightmare, I did it with a five man squad and ballistics when it came out. Lily got Julian'd through full cover turn after turn and I had to restart the encounter twice. Eventually I got it while my entire squad was surrounded by the drop in MECs ready to explode.

You'll get the punch as an ability later on, but it's not as cool. There's a workshop mod though to increase the force of it, look it up.

It is possible, but very very hard. Probably not realistically doable on Legendary with ballistics.

Basically yeah. The thing is that they're terrible on their own but can murder you pretty hard if they group up and activate the explosion tech.

I wanted to ask you fellas for ideas/advice on something

I'm working on a small test game that is inspired by XCOM (both classic and reboot) and the classic Rainbow Six games. It's a turn based tactical game, with SpecOps wizards instead of soldiers or sci-fi stuff. The idea is that for each mission you pick your guys' equipment (weapons, armor, etc), survey the map with initial intel, and choose where to deploy your teams (you can split up your guys into different teams to spawn from different points in the map and pull off coordinated attacks/breaches).

There'll be a couple classes, but with all being magic based somehow. Arcane guardians (the equivalent of a dude with a big ass magic riot shield) are the pointmen and provide cover, wizards are the staple long-range damage dealers, conjurers are the support middle-close range guys, and shadowblades are the equivalent of the stealth class, and they can phase through walls and climb them to get into position for ambushes (think a-la Soul Reaver). You would be able to take 8 guys per mission, and you are free to split them up into 3 teams (like 3,3,2), 2 teams (like 4,4,0) or just one big team of 8. (Similar to Rainbow Six)

You begin most missions in concealment, like in XCOM2, to encourage setting up coordinated strikes with all your squads. You'd be raiding houses, dungeons, towers, towns, etc to accomplish different missions against evil magic-users who are either a passive threat, terrorists holding down an area, or stuff like that. Like warlocks, necromancers, etc.

So what I wanted to ask you is: what are some big blunders that you can think of that I should avoid in this little pet project? How would you balance these classes against competent enemies? (the idea is that missions shouldn't have lots of enemies. They should outnumber your team, but not by too much. Thinking about 20 enemies per mission sounds reasonable)

Yeah, I'm trying to get the bare bones functional first. The most challenging part I think is going to be the AI programming, and figuring out balanced abilities/spells for the classes so that they're functional and fun. For example I was thinking the Guardian would be naturally magic resistant, but unable to cast spells. So his main function would be the point-man with riot shield, but could also pull out a sword to deal damage when up close. The wizard would mainly be for direct damage with target-spells and AoE (and an autoattack with their staff/wand, for when they were low on action points). The conjurer would be more of a vanguard/support, closer to combat with crowd control and casting cheaper spells with their bare hands. The shadowblade would be for getting behind the enemy lines and backstabbing the weak enemies at the backline, silencing them, blinding them, knocking them out temporarily, etc etc.

No, not quite. My original idea for it was more inline with a tactical-dungeon-crawler kinda deal, with a team of wizards sieging a tower controlled by an evil warlock summoning all sorts of horrors, clearing floor by floor, and allowing you to rest in-between floors. Kind of like Persona 3 with Tartarus. But then after thinking about it I ended up favoring the "have different mission types in different maps" approach better. I might use said tower but only as a final level or something like that.

I have toyed with the idea of base management though, but I have no idea how it would work yet

Anyway, I think you can either have the enemy wizards weaker than your team and more of them, or stronger and accompanied by some minions, acting like "pod leaders"

I would make all classes purely magical, no cold weapons, at most you could bash them with the staff if they got too close

Guardian could be a tank/healer, probably unable to cast attack spells and generally be a defensive support
Shadowblade on the other hand would be an offensive support, doing those things you said

Yeah I've toyed with this idea too - that's why I made the riot shield on the guardian be made out of arcane magic and not just a regular metal shield. The shadowblade could perhaps be offensive support in the sense that he can throw magical knives at people, silence enemies, confusing them. Maybe sort of like a Mesmer/Mystic?

I viewed them as a tank but had considered not even including any healing classes, to make the game more in-line with Rainbow Six. But the idea of them being a hybrid between tank and healer does sound kinda cool. Will think about it.

Decided to start a L/I vanilla campaign to try out the expansions/LW stuff properly, but still had a few difficulty enhancing mods such as grenade falloff and - one I had discounted entirely - ADVENT Captain Reinforcements active. Of course the chief captain in his pod called in a drop pod, and the captain which dropped from that reinforcement called in another one. Of course both of them perfectly marked and focus fired down one man each before they went down. Motherfucker, aren't there only supposed to be like 8 guys? I got fourteen all in all. The casualties were staples of my last campaigns too.

Gatecrasher is such horseshit, you've just got to throw out 65%'s and pray to god a few hit.

There are some more things which imply it too. Besides from the Ethereal "come back to us" dialogue that implies that the Commander was once part of their clique beyond a milsim test dummy there are only two entities in the entire XCOM universe which have blue psionic energy, Asaru and now the Commander in the epilogue. Could be a coincidence, could be a nod to Asaru having bonded with him.

Also, at the end of The Bureau some fucko asks "Where do you think Asaru is now?" some other fucko says "I don't know" and the EU base theme starts playing before credits roll. Pretty damn conspicuous.

Basically a pure Close quarters map? Sounds cool, but also seems like X2's arbitrary calculations on what constitutes as a los blocker and what doesn't could make it hell once things start shooting through the floors and ceilings.

Other then that I like the concept. Shotguns and scanners would be the premium equipment on that kind of map, along with zone control abilities like blademaster and ccs.

I think that sounds like the tits. Tbqh any mod which spices up the map generation is a must have in my book, the dull and samey procedural maps are one of the biggest counterarguments against XCOM2's supposed replayability, as paradoxical as that sounds. There's a reason literally all of the mods that add new Plots/PCPs/Parcels/whateverthefuck is in the modlist, people really appreciate that stuff. Doing gods work.

I'd add that you should be careful with verticality. It sounds amazing and fun on paper, but XCOM2 is terrible at it handling elevation. It devolves into the player not being able to select where he wants to be properly because the cursor is jumping back and forth in between floors and positions. Fucking pest on Ironman. A pure interior map is still something I've wanted forever though

I don't think they are comparable to be honest. The issue with nomanbuy is that there is nothing except the "infinite" generation.
Most of XCOM is procedurally generated stuff, from mission maps, to soldiers, to the aliens on the map. Its all about execution and having an actual gameplay concept behind the it. The original X-COM is a good proof of concept for that.
Not that there isn't pros to hand-crafted maps, but overall I'll take randomly generated ones in the longer term.

He was one of the staples, man. If nobody minds I'll recap his story. As with everybody he was given a callsign, Mustang 1-7. I slapped a mask on him too because I thought it looked nice, but it's still Dindu under there. Pic related was his final mission.

Now, he was a god damn hero. Top of the line infantryman who saw the shitshow of a campaign through right from the first terror mission of the campaign up to the very last stand, also a terror mission. Towards the last few ops he was one of only two ranking veterans the outfit had left. Shit, if he didn't end up getting the most kills throughout the entire campaign he was at the very least #2, he and Polecat 1-4 were always back-and-forth over the #1 spot. Polecat was another nine lives infantrywoman, and one of the other few to also make it that far. Hell, she was there right from Gatecrasher.

Those two together kept the campaign going far longer than it had any right to, up until a Haven Siege where the two of them and the droves of fresh rooks held down a church atop a hill for as long as they could. Now you've got to understand, this was fairly late onto the campaign - there were berserkers and Mark II Lancers coming at them from every which way and they didn't even have Predator Armor to back them up because all of our supplies had already went on more rookies for the grinder. Since it was a siege though we got even more rooks to barter with, so it was boiled down to our meatwall against theirs and we didn't have anywhere to fall back to.

It made for an interesting playstyle, having fuck all except 14 rookies and then two high ranked Infantry at a fortified spot. The rooks would suicide dash into a flanking position, then Mustang and Polecat overwatched and picked off the runners. We kept it going for almost twenty turns during which 1-4,1-7 and their band of misfits killed off 73 ADVENT but towards the last five or so turns there were only three rookies and our vets left

It looked bad, but nobody had given up entirely on the operation yet. Especially not Mustang. On the list of fucked up shit he'd seen this op didn't even register, in spite of the rookies dropping left and right. The campaign had always been balancing upon the edge and at this point those who were still alive had probably just up and said "fuck it, hell can wait", because they defied death on a regular basis.

Not only that, but the reinforcement dropships were also thinning out which left the little squad to fight the relatively small number of 20 or so aliens who were coming at the church very disjointedly. Confident as shit, they saw the turn-timer tick down and held down the fort. Two turns and another rookie died, leaving only two of them and our veterans left. Then disaster struck and Polecat caught the receiving end of a stunlance, knocking her out immediately. Now there was a problem. Most of the ADVENT force had been whittled down but it was still too much for a single hard-ass veteran and two shivering rooks to take on, but there was a saving grace. The turn timer spelled T-minus two. They were out of options and knew it. The rookies bit it when the ADVENT MECs finally decided to use those missiles. Mustang got shot out of cover shortly after and was bleeding out, but it didn't matter anymore. The turn timer had already hit zero and the Haven had been evacuated. Mission accomplished.

It was a pretty suitable way to end his career, laying three deep in alien corpses. Did he crawl out of there, bleed out, get captured? I have no clue. I like to think he choked those last twenty ayys with his intestines and walked into the haven pub, but I'll leave it to you to decide. I'll tell you straight up that Mbeke definitely did not do nothing.

Why did I get only 6 and 9 days of wound time?

I know my scout took a beating since the gunner was so kind to blast away his cover while overwatching, which resulted in 3/4 flank hits

Hey there anon. As another britbong I can recommend Virgin and BT as your best bets for interwebs. BT is much better on the customer service front, they've sent out technicians to fix my shit the one time it broke within fucking hours of the call wheras Virgin tried charging one of my friends 300k for his bill once due to a database glitch and literally had to be taken to court to get them to not be retards.

Spark Flier: flying in X2 is kinda worthless, it just gives you the abilitie to climb structures without ladders, but would be interesting to see spark with high mobility, low health (for sparks standards) almost no armor but high dodge and defense. perks like close encounters, hit and run, aggression and infighter would work great

Walker Spark:the opposite of the Flier, more tanky less mobility but with all kind of aoe and special firing shoots like hail of bullets, fire for effect, even trench gun (if it can work with a spark weapon)

Shadowrun is a game about professional criminals. Much like you pick your lineup based on who will be useful and then worry about aesthetics, Shadowrunners are meant to be good first, nyan~nyan way down the list.

It can be furry if someone spends the points on the perks. There's a condition called SURGE where you basically get to go full furry/scaly/etc. The problem with that though is the rest of the crew will ask why you spent points on that instead of on a gun.

Also, one saving grace, depending on your view and the players, is that Shadowrunners only team up for jobs. You should frequently be RP'ing your characters living their lives away from each other. It might even make furries tolerable, in a way, since there characters aren't really special in this world and have rent to pay.

Depends. Each difficulty has a cap now. If you run down the timer below that cap it will reset to the cap. For legendary that cap is only like 7 days. Otherwise you have however many days were left right before you knocked the Avatar progress back.

It depends, on terror missions I fluctuate between high 40s and low 30s because of those poorly optimized fire fx, but on everything else I sit comfortably at high 50s or 60. Used to be much worse, not sure whether Firaxis stealth patched performance but ever since I came back to the game it's been running beautifully.

Mainly from Call of Duty since WTR showed that the sounds can be extracted.

World at War can give me German and Japanese.
Black Ops can give me Russian, Vietnamese, and I think Spanish and Chinese (? I'm pretty sure there's Chinese enemies at one point). If not, Black Ops 3 has the 54 Immortals and I know for certain they speak Mandarin and Cantonese dialects.

Advanced Warfare can give me Korean from the first level.

Unfortunately, I don't have working knowledge of any of the languages except Chinese so unless the filenames hint at the meaning I'll probably fuck up a lot of the meanings.

Shogun 2 Total War can give me a few voices since they name the files and there's plenty of Engrish from Fall of the Samurai.

He switched after his last X2 modded campaign broke. He wants a Long War XCOM experience, but X2 requires alot of experimental modding (which he doesn't like) and when you start piling the mods on can eventually become unstable. So for right now He's back to Long War.

Forgot to check the female animations. Usually there are no female animations, only male animations, female animations are made through black magic, or as the documentation says it "male animations go through a filter for female soldiers". But that doesn't always work so in some cases, for example the cannon and the shotgun have separate animations for male soldiers and female soldiers.

Unfortunately i didn't think of all that so now i have to edit the animations for female soldiers.

What the fuck is with the air game? takes at least 3 fighters to bring down an alien ship at the start. im saving my fighters to only go after the ships that scout for satellites and im still having to replace my satellites each month. i had 8 alien satellite destroying ships attack me in month 2, eight.

Also i would bet money that the accuracy is not correctly represented, im missing most of my shots in the 70-79% range, it makes me think that i actualy only have a 25% chance to hit when its in that range.
