Honestly, I had the most fun with 3U I think. I hadn't played MH since FU, (which I barely touched, but put 300 hours into F2) so I think I had the perfect balance between knowing what I was doing and not. It was like my first monhun all over again but I already knew what was going on. Nowadays it's all about minmaxing and clownsuiting, and while that's fun, I kind of miss the blind exploratory way I played 3U, even though I was on 3DS and played it alone.

AFAIK, fade slashes do not count for Steve gimmick. But I almost exclusively use Adept (with some Aerial for monsters like Gammoth), so I'd say I make decent use of the Steve gimmick.

I get that Capcom made Astalos kick a Rathalos' ass in the cutscene to make him seem "cool", but it doesn't really work when they make Astalos so damn fragile in-game.

How does one deal with Hellblade's double beyblade spin as a SnS? I get that behind him is the safe spot, but he's not always that close and I don't always have my hunter arts ready to dodge or I-frame through it.
Blocking has gotten me killed before thanks to it taking all of my stamina on hit, so I don't want to rely on it too much for this move.

What do you guys do?

I remember fighting Rathalos/Azure rath in 3U and having a lot of fun since they were more land-based, so hopefully Rathalos gets a few more tricks while he's on his feet.

Well I understand they wanted Rathalos to be 'King of the Skies' while the Rathian was 'Queen of the Land' or whatever. So I get they wanted him in the air most of the time.

My way of remedying this would be instead of having Rathalos fly in place and spam fireballs/ poison claw while everyone and their mother waits for him to get his ass down, why not give him what I can only describe as 'jumping' moves? Like he uses one good strong wing flap to propel himself into various maneuvers. This way, he can keep his theme of being in the air, without him just hanging out up there and adding nothing to the fight?

I've wondered if instead of the current mounting system, you could cling to a monster and climb around it. Imagine hanging on to a Rathalos as it's flying in the sky.

Idk if that would actually work well in-game, but it's interested me since other games have gotten it to work.

A LOT of the "Flying Wyverns" in Monster Hunter never real fly in combat. And they're better for it. Tigrex/ Gigginox/ Diablos are all engaging fights.

I'm not saying he has to be a clone of them, but he needs a reworking.

He's still got his 'Around the world' attack, though unless you're fighting him in a single area in the Volcano, I don't think he can pull it off on any other maps in Generations.

He also doesn't do the super fireball in the air anymore, and only while grounded, and I fell that's a kinda silly change at that.

As much as it was the "standing still game" it felt kinda cool. I wish they brought something like it back but made it better. Maybe he shoots fireballs while circling and comes in for a powerful but tiring attack. If you dodge you get an opening.

Basically i just want "king of the skies" to mean more than "i can hover and shoot fireballs"

But that seems to be the ONLY location he's able to as well. He only had one spot he could do it in 4U as well, that move's rather limited in the spots rathalos can pull it off on given he goes 'off the map' to preform it.

Thunderlord 10 is zin and bulldrome, bulldrome makes the point of fighting zin moot I guess, so they settle for 9 which is 2 zin.

Bow and LBG are never really big damage dealer so they're slow, HBG times are not slow at all, it's always one of the top ones actually.

That wasn't the guy you replied to, I am. Again there's nothing wrong with some older monsters and I have no problem with a lot of the newer ones. I haven't fought Mizu yet. Shit like Diablos, Gravios, Fatalis, and the Dromes need to fucking go and stay gone but Khezu and the crabs are fine. The crabs especially since it's nice to have monsters that aren't some variant of dragon. This is a major reason why I was so excited about Gammoth and Brute Wyverns in general coming into this game.
