I really hope they don't have an avatar in FE15. Having a player insert has never been better than having an actual character with an established independent personality be the lead of a game. And if the avatar isn't the lead, then they're still just made into a ridiculous Mary Sue sidecharacter who isn't technically the protagonist of the plot but many things still revolve around them. It's a pathetic appeal to people who enjoy having a game circlejerk them and tell them that they're awesome.

If there has to be supports and weeb VN romance shit, please let it be reduced. The abundance of that stuff in Awakening and Fates, combined with the player avatar being able to fuck everything that moves, is the fuel for the autismal fires that burn every thread, as is plainly visible. Maybe it'll reduce the fan base, maybe it'll even kill the series. So be it. I would rather have the series end then watch it devolve into the zombified state it's in. Pretty sad, because Conquest has shown that IS actually knows how to make a mechanically good game.

Honestly Kris wasn't bad as far as being an avatar goes. He wasn't a chosen one, just a really competent soldier. His only flaws were being a bland character who only cared about "muh training, muh grandfather anecdotes" and his tendency to stroke Marth's dick constantly.

There were some really oddly-placed cutscenes that had no purpose besides complimenting Kris, but those were more forgivable because they actually depended on which of his stats were good, so it was never completely empty praise about informed ability like Corrin's charisma or Robin's strategy.

I've spent the last hour just making child units for specific roles.
