How do I stop myself from cancelling attacks?

This might seem like a really dumb question but I just watched one of my replays and I think I might just do something fundamentally wrong when it comes to controlling my hero.

I seem to spam right clicks a lot and often abort attacks before the projectile comes out which results in missing kills and chasing people for way longer than I would have had to otherwise.

I'm also pretty slow at actually right clicking enemies, would it be better to switch to use autoattack on or to using smart attack moves?

How to get rid of this habit?
