So is arc warden better as a middle, safe or off? I've played him like three times (admitedly only in co-op vs bot games) and went mid each time and I just feel like after I get bottle and like mana treads I just kinda stall. I can get lots of kills, sure, but its hard to feel like I have an impact when I dump everything I do to get like one kill because bots group up well for flux and can't really push.

The main thing for you to do is never touch heroes like anti-mage, crystal maiden or disruptor again. You should be playing heroes like Juggernaut, PA, Axe, Vengeful Spirit, Dragon Knight, etc...Easy tanky characters with stuns and big impact ults and shit.

spirits has a full damage output of 437 / 796 / 1155 / 1514 on creeps, all aoe damage. Won't always deal that much when some collisions miss but its easy to deal 300/600/900/1200+ per cast

then you've got a global ganking hero with 1000 nuke damage, you can just rush blink dagger / blademail and blink on top of people and dare them to hit you back

I wanna say this was my most important factor in starting to git gud. I joined Dota a little before TI3. With every tournament I watched, I felt like I started understanding bit by bit how the pro decision-making worked. While I mostly abandoned playing Dota between TI4 and TI6 (even though I still watched those tournaments) I've recently gotten back into it fully, and watching TI6 has now made me finally have a true impact in most of my games, even without having a ton of played games under my belt.

I always felt like I learned from watching others put something into practice. Tournaments were a great way to do that, even if it took some time, obviously, because I had to first crunch down the little things I observed in a hundred pro games before it finally just started clicking on me.

The labels you use don't even properly correlate to the massive umbrella that is the carry/support/core roles since they are just labels used to define what certain abilities of a specified hero can do.

The point of the carry/support/core role is to help your team win by utilizing the strengths of the hero in niche situations.

A hero's basic abilities help them define their strengths and weaknesses and this is further complimented with the attributes that the hero is given (movespeed, base damage, str/agi/int gain, etc). So how does this relate to carry/support/core role? Well hero abilities tend to be simple but they are far from one-dimensional. Having a lot of crowd control doesn't automatically make you a support and if you think that's the case go back to playing league of leukemia or smite or some shit.

This complexity allows you to utilize THE SAME STRENGTH of a hero in DIFFERENT WAYS.

You know what items are in dota 2 my friend? That's what blurs the boundaries between carry/support/core roles. A support in the early can probably become a carry in the late-game if given the right items (think support mirana or naga siren).

This is the type of shit that breeds that carry winter wyvern build. You know the aghs, bloodthorne, maelstrom shit? It's utilizing the strength of JUST ONE SKILL and completely changing how a hero is played.

You are sidestepping it. Kunkka before level 2 has literally zero harass available to him. He needs levels before he can, and gets it from pulls. The tradeoff is mostly in bottle refilling shenanigans and his ultimate.

Troll has a bash, a 100 range salve cancelling slow, a 60% blind, and +6 armor on command at level 2. Unlike kunkka, he actually CAN jungle or pull quickly. You trade AoE rum buff for AOE damage amp.

Boots of mana gives troll warlord the ability to cast 4 of his spells. 60% AoE blinds only start to fall off the same reason X marks does, purging items like Eul's, Manta, or BKB. You get VERY easy Roshan control or can threaten Rosh very easily with ANY roster with troll on it.

Calibration is a minimum of 25 matches and a maximum of 40, I have not been able to determine. During this period your unranked mmr (invisible) can swing by huge amounts, up to over 1000 per game.

after calibration your unranked MMR is set and then changes by 25 to 30 per game.

You do not have to worry about gaining extra MMR through calibration. Trust me. It looks at a lot of shit like your farming decisions and damage
