Making map for this fucking game seems like such an impossible task. I'm good with computers, I really am, not like your typical millenial think he is, but for real. I code for a living, I've worked on networks, I've used text-based GNU/Linux distributions for years, I've installed and used all kinds of hardware and software, I've dabbled in sound and video creation/edition, I've used 3d scultping and image editing softwares, I'm at least twice as good with computer than your average young adult at this point. Yet when it comes to making a map for KF2, I can't do a fucking thing properly. I remember when I used Hammer to make maps for CSS some almost ten years ago, within 2 hours of experimenting with the editor I had a map underway, and a couple days later it was on gamebanana and starting to get traction as a popular jailbait map. The KF2 SDK? I spent 6 hours in this fucking thing, trying to get a basic textured ground with a skybox and lighting, and could not even get here. I spent 2 additional hours watching a youtuber explain how to do that and all I can tell from it is that apparently you can only make a flat ground with square rooms and pre-made door archetypes; but then, how was ManorKF1 made? How was Nuked made? There is next to no information online, and none of that shit is intuitive in any way for me, I don't know what the fuck to do with 90% of the buttons I see.

It drives me fucking nuts.

SWAT perks are really quite underwhelming, and the armour skills don't really do anything

I don't like the saturation effect when Zerker gets his parry on. Instead they could make like, a red filter. That'd work a lot better

The penetration zed time perk for support is pretty crappy compared to the fire speed one

Wow, Battering Ram is such a shit skill, it doesn't work on zeds most of the time, because if they stumble, get stuned, are attacking or whatever it just doesn't work on them. I've tried this meme skill and died twice because I knocked down few zeds but got stopped by the ones behind them, and just ended up in the middle of a rape group. Basically the client tells the server everything that the client just did,t hen the server just checks with the rest of the world and decide whether its consistent or not, if yes it will allow the thing to happen, if not it will make corrections and send it back to the client, and the client will update itself with that.

The server knows dead bodies are client-side, so it green lights any kind of shenanigans related to them.

There's three ways of doing that,
1st way is you allow all bullets to go through bodies nilly-willy, so that the game doesn't even check for that and give the server a normal shot.
2nd way is you don't allow bullets to go through bodies easily, so all the penetration calculations are applied to dead bodies and everything looks super-realistic and amazing, but you can't shoot through huge piles of bodies (which makes logical sense)
3rd way is to have the visual effects of penetration, but a stopping power of 0 on dead bodies, so that the bullet goes through as if we're in 2nd solution, but it the game world it still has full power until it hits a live target, which would be the bet of both worlds and probably easily done with number tweaking.

I would appeal to TWI for a better solution than the one they chose but I know they don't give a shit about what internet people tell them.

Berserker is very solid, except for Vampire/Skirmisher being basically useless with a Medic, but that might be intentional, as it's still useful when fighting big crowds to lighten healing load.

Commando has Hollow Point Rounds being a lot better than Eat Lead, but otherwise solid, maybe change Eat Lead to a ROF increase as well, and take the less recoil buff from HPR.

Support is pretty poorly done, Tac Reload is only good if you're using M4/SG500, which is vastly inferior to AA12/DBS, the rest is Salvo/Tight Choke/Resupply Pack/Barrage every time. Needs another overhaul.

Medic's entire right side is really bad. No one really expects or plays Medic for trash cleaning, it would need massive boosts in that regard to make it worthwhile, or another overhaul altogether.

Demo is again really bad, Bombardier vs Shock Trooper is the only real choice, as High Impact/Frag/Concussive are all broken and useless, make Concussive add stun power to Demo's regular shots or something to compensate. Mad Bomber is also meh, boost the reload time hugely so we can at least fire twice in zedtime.

Idk about Firebug since I don't play it much, but it's really terrible, even with abusing Groundfire as much as possible.

GS needs serious work, as there's only one build currently, Quick Draw/REU/Speedloader/Skullcracker/Fanfire. Change Steady to have no recoil while aimed down sights. Change Bone Breaker to +50% damage when shooting limbs and ignoring blocks, with no flat bonus. Change Line Em Up to have infinite penetration + no damage dropoff, instead of just the damage preservation. Idk about the zedtime skill, maybe full reload for all your guns + full movement and name it Whirlwind of Payne

Sharp's entire left side is terrible unless you're trying to meme with M14/xbow, nothing will beat straight headshot damage and I don't know why they're trying.

Idk about SWAT as I haven't played it enough, but change Battering Ram to massive damage, as running into a zed pack just gets you killed currently. Change Assault Armor to "damage is mitigated by armor 20%" or whatever to eliminate the armor drain of Heavy Armor

Other than the Clot grab immunity, it literally makes your armor WORSE.
All the damage goes to your armor. Instead of (for example) max armor taking 75% of the damage and your HP taking 25% of it, your armor takes 100% of the damage without being actually stronger. In addition, Medics can't easily heal you and give you boosts because you don't take HP damage until it's all gone.
Not to mention Tactical Movement is insanely useful and fun.

Well look I certainly agree that the gameplay feels much better to me in terms of clunkiness.

But I should've been clearer.
I meant in terms of atmosphere. KF1 just had a, how do I describe it? A mood, to it.
The lighting, the ambient noises, the soundtrack, the style.
I actually felt really on edge at times in KF1. It felt dark and scary and creepy and like some whole other world that was similar but not quite ours. Like an alternate reality that I could just lose myself in at times. KF2 just doesn't to that for me, even at its best moments it doesn't have the impact that KF1 did and does have for me.

Of course, I am aware that that's just my subjective perspective, and while I do really miss it, you'll never catch me saying OMG KF2 ISN'T KF1: ENHANCED GRAPHICS EDITION FUCK THIS SHIT UNPLAYABLE UNPLAYABLE.

I think it would be better, really. It's caused not much more than problems, while just making you get less out of each perk's, you know, perks, despite introducing a "player choice" aspect to them.

If we had the chance to compromise, I'd rather have seen the larger level pool as an opportunity for a points system, where you can augment numbers or qualities of the perk benefits (which have been redistributed as passives or unlockable qualities). It would still be heavily weapon-dependent in most cases, but the main takeaway is that it allows the perks to actually have more than half its perks to some degree. As it stands, the impact of the level system isn't much different from KF1's, with just 5 real 'levels' instead of 6, and far less active positives.

And yeah the game does feel much better than before, generally, the feelings about KF2 are better than before.
Even the forums aren't as much of a Wild West these days. People are still very skeptical of TW, but there's a little more of a cautious optimism than there was before.
I used to give away copies of KF2 in /kfg/ to people who came in during a new update, but I stopped after the disheartening Zedconomy scandal. Might do it again one more time when we hit full release, if KF2 is looking better by then.

Why come up with a completely fresh idea when you can derive a new idea from an existing concept and simply extend it?

Look at our two newest perks.
Gunslinger. Directly derived from KF1 SS. The strength of his pistols are undeniably descended from the KF1 SS.

SWAT. Now, for a long time, it was considered by some people that SWAT would be similarly derived from the old Medic. Lo and behold, look at what was delivered. Of his weapons, all but the P90 were KF1 Medic weapons. His advanced armour, with an useful aid to tanking, also comes straight out of KF1 Medic. The directly observable link isn't as clear, but it is still there.


This of course, is what has made the cancellation of Martial Artist such a shock.
Between the name and the Katana, it was clearly also derived from an old perk, the KF1 Zerk.
But now it seems that TW have decided that what KF1 Zerk had will remain with KF2 Zerk, or at least so it would seem.

This final perk is a real mystery. When we learn all of its details, what will it be? Will we see the signs that it is somehow derived from a KF1 perk? Or is this really something completely brand new?

I just wasn't a fan of the massive same voice, it was amusing at first but it just became sort of dull shortly after. Guy making the SWAT skins here, I'd like your opinion for a second.
As you can see the KRISS has tons of bolts popping out of it (there's even more on the other side as well) and I'm not sure what to do with them.
Currently I've cut them out of the paint mask so they will be as shiny as on the vanilla gun, but that makes their color really clash with the rest of the gun since it's black.
So, my question is: should I leave the bolts as is even though they clash with the rest of the skin, or should I color them black? The downside with coloring them black is that they're still obviously on the skin and are bulging outwards, but since there won't be anything that looks like a bolt there anymore it might look strange.

I know how you feel man, depending on the wave you get it, I tend not to go out on the AA12 til the mid wave where scrakes are becoming common and just rack up money with the starting shotty, that way you can buy an AA12 for when the time comes and have over 100 shots which should be more than plenty unless the game conductor wants to give you hell. Also take advantage of ammo boxes, people can plenty of ammo and armor off you, you deserve some priority on rare ammo boxes unless you got another support.

I keep running into a couple really annoying bugs in KF2 and they're starting to piss me off. Both bugs are demonstrated in this screenshot.

Sometimes when I'm dual wielding and right click to aim, it just brings up the right hand gun as if I'm only one gun.

The other bug is the character name you see at the bottom of the screen when you're spectating someone doesn't go away when I spawn in.

Are these known bugs and is there anything that can be done about them?

They made Demo so much more fun this patch, and I espcially love him on the KF1 Office remake map.

Hard mode feels like the perfect experience at the moment because the "special zeds" like albino crawlers and bloats, and the alpha clots, are rare. They seem to come too often in the higher difficulties for my liking.

My biggest gripe with hard mode is the little amount of zeds though, even on long. I find myself still having a lot of ammo left. Normal should be as difficult as current hard mode, and then Hard should be bumped up a bit in the amount of special zeds that spawn and the amount of zeds that spawn in general.

There was nothing wrong with the FP's voice lines in KF1.
They were simple, short, and the filter made him sound more like machine than man.
In KF2 he has a MUCH bigger vocabulary and yet manages to say things that sound outright stupid like "BRAINS" and "HUMANS EVIL." He sounds like some kind of stupid fucking orc.
Add in the fact his voice sounds comparatively "normal" and you have something even worse than its first 2 iterations.
Honestly, FP's previous voice lines (with no dialogue) would have been fine if they would just have replicated the voice filter from KF1. The new voice lines sound much more like the FP from the original KF mod rather than KF1.

Walking (non-sprint, default, without penalties (health loss, carry weight) or bonuses (speed boost, perk bonuses)) speed is 383 hammer units per second.
When you crouch or aim down sights, this is multiplied by x0.4. If you crouch and aim down sights, the speed penalty is still x0.4, but they don't stack (so it's not (383x0.4)x0.4.)
So the default speed is 383, now multiply that by x0.4 and you get 153.2.
Tactical Movement sets your speed multipliers when aiming down sights or crouching (or both) to x2.5 this normal value. So to answer your question:
(383x0.4)x2.5 = 383. You simply FEEL you walk faster because of the lower perspective and increased camera movement (since it doesn't compensate for your speed "boost" when crouching, just your weapon bob.)

I thought it was just a first time bug, but I tried it out at a super perk training map and if they just spawned recently, they can still grab you but they'd auto let go after a few seconds. This could really fuck someone if they don't notice it. There's a lot of bugs with the class apparently, but mine is only level 18 so I don't know how busted the other perks are.

I only really understand workshop submission skins, but maybe I can help.
Is the MIC file linking everything together properly? You need to make sure the MIC file replaces the default texture with your skin.
Maybe a screenshot of how your MIC looks would help.
Other than that, it could very well be a bug. As far as I know, the 1858 revolvers are still bugged in the sense that any workshop file changes to its glossiness only affects part of the gun for some bizarre reason.

if a perk only has 4 weapons and absolutely all of them have some big glaring weak point, the perk is shit. not necessarily firebug levels of shit, but it's inferior. i've seen maybe one sharpshooter on my team out of the 20-30 games i've played recently- i wonder why nobody plays him?

I had the same problem and did the -dx10 thing and it seemed to fix the issue.

At the very least, I got bugsplatted mid-game maybe 10+ games in a row the last few days, and after doing that I've since had two full games without any issues.

Well shit, nigga. I also verified my files and have been doing without my music swaps since (which is suffering, I miss my hotline miami tunes), and reset my graphic settings (for some reason, one of them was "Ini override" which I'm pretty sure I never set so I put it back to one of the normal listed settings, just in case).

You probably need help from someone who knows what they're doing and isn't just pressing buttons until shit stops breaking, though. Hang in there.
