Commando has to work around it with taps/bursts/stayingstill/crouching/ADS/pullingaimdown.

Only time iv used the P90 is part of a CS:GO meme build of P90 + C4 + Dual Barretas/Single Deagle sidearm. It works surprisingly well since the P90 has good ammo c4 is good against big zeds and the sidearms are good for ammo or burst damage respectively.

I really wonder why did it take so much time for Tripwire to fix the teleporting ZEDs

It takes me to the conclusion they indeed didn't played or paid attention to KF2 for the longest time, considering the teleporting ZEDs fucked up the balance, game pace, and complete design of the game and maps over, making it rendundant and useless to run, hide or crowd control them.

It fucked the concept of Killing Floor in so much ways it's seriously incredible, not to mention it's giganticly stupid and unfun.

And it took what? 8 months? almost a year i think

It's like doing a shooter that guns don't shoot, a platformer with broken jumping, and leaving it like that for a year.

The first seconds/minute the wave started you knew you should run and get the fuck out where you are to spawn them all and start kiting them, otherwise you get surrounded by the first wave. But that's fair, they spawned already so that's it.

KF2 you ran to reload, turned around the corner and found the same Scrake you've been running from on leaving the bathroom in front of you. Ran again and he's reading the newspaper again on your way out. Fucking retarded.

I think zeds just had shit path finding algorythm, so TWI decided fuck it and just made them teleport all over the place in time for early access launch. Now they spent some time figure out path finding and finally got rid of teleporting.

now the gameflow seems a lot more dynamic, with the special squads and more enemies, so the teleporting isn't required

You're now remembering there's welding in the game

The most awkward thing was to weld a door in a room, look back to the other side, and suddenly they're INSIDE THE ROOM with you

And you welded one of your exits so you were fucked

It's their game design they were not respecting, all i'm saying

Maybe the pathfinding or a more technical issue was indeed at hand. Thing is people really didn't trust them because they kept silent for the longest time, and that's a big no no for EA games.

If it's one of the biolabs ones it might not have collision enabled if its in an area that players can't reach. IIRC if you double click on the mesh it should bring up the mesh properties window. Near the bottom of that window there should be a few checkboxes referencing collision, if you check (or uncheck) those boxes the mesh should have fully working collision.

Parry is so much better it's insane. The damage is bugged too and is always active. The buff lasts so long though that you never have to worry about it.

Normally you have 30% damage reduction: (175+100)/.7 = 392 Effective HP

With parry you have 50%: (175+100)/.5 = 550 Effective HP

158 points of raw damage taken more. And if you have a medic giving damage reduction it's proportionally even better. There is no way that this won't get fixed.

On the matter of dark maps, I don't dislike them if they're done proper. Which means they can be dark but:
- shouldn't be too dark (as in if your flashlight is off your whole screen turns black)
- should have some places with some light no matter what

I think Suburbia is a good reference on how to make a dark yet not too dark map with a very nice feel to it.

It's not as spaghetti as other parts of KF2's game files, but it's still pretty crazy.

The simplest example I know is the OST.
Let's pretend we want to change the Patty's boss theme in KF1 and KF2, and we want to change it to Rules Of Nature.


In KF1 you could just take your Rules Of Nature.mp3, convert it into a generic .ogg, rename it "Abandon All" and then drop it in the KF1 music folder.

In KF2 you have to take your RON.mp3, convert it into WAV, then you need to process it with WWise according to stringent specifications (which if done incorrectly will at best play no sound and at worse in some rare cases crash your game entirely).
This relatively long and complex process will turn your .wav into a .wem file.
Then you have to look into a text file and find the Patriarch's theme song's special number code (a unique ID register that the game recognises the sound file with, which cannot be changed or replaced). After finding this one number code buried in a pile of literally dozens and dozens of number codes, you must then rename your RON.wem to the number code and then use that to replace the vanilla theme AND THEN you are finished.

And that's the simple sound to replace.
Replacing shit like zed sound effects or other stuff is even more complex.
When that Jap Trader mod anon said he spent hours working on it, he probably wasn't exaggerating.

So around the summer of last year I got bored of all the vanilla songs in KF2, and replaced them with a bunch of other metal music I like.

This includes a patch for some songs that had a bunch of unnecessary audio at the start, and volume normalisation. A few tracks might be more silent than the rest, but I play at audio level max so I can still hear them fine.
ENABLE the music by checking "music vocals" in the audio settings, or go back to vanilla music by unchecking the vocals. Vanilla obviously won't have vocals anymore. Also I think they changed the main menu track since my custom one doesn't play, but I can't be bothered to muster up the autism to edit anything atm.

Protip: to reduce confusion, go with colors that stick apart the most.
Go with FF0000 (red), 00FF00 (green), 0000FF (blue), and the last color is up to you. I personally think pink stands out the most outside of RGB, so maybe try FF00FF for the 4th square.
When you put the texture on the gun and know what general area the texture is in (like if it's in the blue square) then make a copy of the whole layer and put another one in the blue square. If you still can't find it, repeat the process and copy layers and reduce it to fit a single square until you find it.

It can be a bit stressful to get money on pub games since roles are not that clearly defined so everyone is shooting more then needed and may not be killing that much in the end.
With a semi organized team I never have dosh issues on long though, not even ammo problems (usually running support with quite expensive loadouts), it comes down to saving dosh by only buying as much ammo/nades/armor as needed in the earlier waves, by around wave 5 you should have quite the bank balance.

It doesn't rely on DoT unless you're tapping your gun once every 10 seconds, which no one does.
If you want range use the range skill, otherwise heatwave and splash damage are doing everything for you.
And you CAN headshot as firebug, but it's not as efficient as tapping the floor.

Level 5: Heavy Armour, starting with armour and being able to not take damage on the health bar while you have it is great, no need to worry about medics until you lose it all

Level 10: Reload, safe all rounder when it comes to the skills. Having Close Combat for early waves is nice for saving cash so take advantage of it.

Level 15: Ammo Vest, stumbles aren't all that great if you want to hit your targets, ammo vest is just safer and lets you be a bit more free with spraying.

Level 20: Ass Armour, stacks with the level 5 and makes you even more sturdy when taking hits, cripple isn't THAT bad though but I find myself liking the extra defenses.

Level 25: Rapid, you basically get unlimited firepower and pretty much identical to normal time firing speeds, ram is just the meme choice so only use it if you want to dick about.

Maybe I misunderstand how it works, but wouldn't the heavy armor perk be a negative thing, now that medics can no longer heal armor?

Thought armor dampened the blows, and allowed hp to be healed up over time, while this would basically just make it munch all your armor frontloaded?

Or does it do the damage it normally would've done to armor and simply not move your health?

Since everyone's taking it I assume the skill doesn't work like I think it does (hp+armor damage all stacked into your armor)

That's fine. Only meme Sharpshooters are only good with one or the other, being good with both is the only true path, though having a preference is fine.

Sniper is a great choice for massive damage. I personally use Marksman but that's only because I like the move speed bonus and the fire rate bonus on the M14. Using Sniper is still fine.

Stability is the only correct choice. B Shock means fuck all between SS weapon stun power being nerfed and general stun durations being nerfed.

Now. Three letters: REU.
Rack Em Up. You must have this if you're using an M14. A potential 50% extra damage on every round from that is huge. Switch to Tac Reload only if you're using Railgun (It doesn't fire fast enough to make worthwhile use of REU).

I personally take the More Ammo skill because I want as much ammo as possible, but Deadeye is still a solid choice if you are comfortable with your standard ammo limits.
However, don't let Deadeye put you in a "ADS shots only" mindset. Sometimes you straight up have to hipfire in some situations. Don't be the muppet trying to ADS with an M14 on the Scrake right up in his face.

When you hit 25, take Assassin. 5% chance of zed time + 35% more damage in zed time = Good time every time
It's all good, you generally knew what was up, but hopefully that will give you a wider perspective.

I prefer cripple over extra armor. Reason being that once your armor is gone you're basically SoL on that talent and unless you don't take the tier 1 talent for armor, you wont be able to have medics give you damage reduction since only sirens can get past your armor.

Now if swat had some sort of way to naturally repair his armor I'd definitely recommend taking both armor talents, otherwise i'd recommend taking the cripple since it'll never not work.

Plus you know, being able to outrun FP's and scrakes is pretty fucking hilarious.

I like the playstyle of Marksman better but I find myself being more successful with the other. And I mistyped - I don't ever take the stun ability now, it does, really, fucking nothing.

I swear, it feels like I hear this every time from people who don't play HoE.

Medic doesn't have the time to be acting like a trash-killer on HoE. If you are a Medic, I don't expect to see you going off on your own to kill those bunch of clots. On the other hand, I do expect the Commando to do that, because if zed time procs then it means he'll easily be able to extend it.

I'm still baffled at how many people don't appreciate zed time extensions. Even Scrakes and Fleshpounds get turned into a joke if the team is level 25 and there's a Commando to keep the overpowered zed time skills going for everyone else.

If you got the 2nd Xbow headshot it will only be 3 headshots with the m14 to kill. If you hit the chest you will need to spam more but it's still doable if you are quick on trigger. If you miss scrake on 2nd shotyou gotta bash him and headshot him again, the combo is essentially reset but bashing raging scrake can be dangerous. It's doable in game, i've done it several times.
For this setup, you need marksman in tier 1, stability in tier 2, rack em up for tier 3, always prepared tier 4, and tier 5 you can use either, but if you use ranger you might get lucky and stun it in 1 headshot. Whenever you stun it, switch to the m14 and spam as fast as you can.
I don't recommend stun skill because you are becoming slavshooter with stability.

You can also do the 2 xbow shots from a distance if you think you can do it. The reload speed from stability will help much if you do this.

the only positive side of this seems to be that you don't catch on fire when you get husk sniped, which makes it pretty low damage, and it gives you the ability to tank 4-5 hits from a fleshpound.

You take the same damage with the skill as without. Any damage you would take is just sent to armor.

With it the first 150 points of damage goes to armor, then you're left with 100 max HP until the next round. Without it only some of the damage goes to armor, and you can keep your max HP higher for longer.

Some quick bullet points to give you a rough idea of where I thing you should be going.

-Seems like you've focused on theme and aesthetic before layout. I do this ALL the time and it almost never works. Layout first, then the rest

-Way too dark. I know it's an easy way to show off lighting but it shows real skill if you can have a bright map with some impressive lighting points

-Use a default skybox ripped from another map. Current one looks way too rounded and unnatural

-I liked the amount of alternate routes but many of the hallways feel flat and lengthy. Try adding more obstacles/paths to make things exciting. Particularly on the outskirts. Standard square path around the map is rarely fun


Those are really the most glaring issues I can think of. I'm sure you're fairly new to this but I would say this is the more fundamental stuff you should pay attention to when tackling a map.

I always loved the idea of a large stage/venue map. Especially if it incorporated fun interactive lighting/music.

Best of luck with your map anon. Stick too it and don't get disheartened. It'll turn out cool if you practice and refine it.

You're right, I did focus more on the theme first and built around it. I do want to fill up those hallways a bit and wanted to keep a good amount of alternate ways of getting from a to b.

How dark it should be had me conflicted. I feel the outside looks decent with its lighting but inside looks poor in places. Will brighten up the ambient lights and see how it fares. With the extended torch batteries I wasn't sure how the general feeling of darkness was now.

Skybox was something I dumped in there earlier on and actually forgot about. You're right it is just a massive sphere.

I intend to keep adding to it but I felt it was a good time to get something out and see if others thought it was any good.

I've played some kf1. Recently playing some solo biolabs on HoE. Managed to beat it as sharp with MK12 and Xbow. pretty fun. right now i'm practicing with 44 magnum to make sure i hit those headshots consistently since it punishes missing more than HC and MK12.
After that it's practicing towards m14+lar then i'm moving to faked players.

Here are my two cents;
-Map is too large, you should try to make it a bit smaller to avoid spreading it too thin because polishing it will take a lot of time
-Unlike the other guy, I didn't find the darkness a problem at all, maybe I have different settings than him but it's nice to see a dark map once in a while. More lighting would be good to bring out details in the map
-You need to add a lot of detail to the map, at the moment it feels very barren, again going to my first point.
-Be sure to make every area that's accessible to the player also accessible to zeds, I found a few places that you can cheese the waves really easily, the new spawn system also makes it really easy to kite everything
Lastly, I'll be uploading a video to yt of my 4-wave game in the map where I discover some of these problems, for now have this screencap of a fleshpound getting stuck on scenery

Dammit, I had zeds moving over that with no issue.
I don't really want to make the map any smaller, having the current space seems fine.
The details that are in the map currently where to stop some of the areas looking painfully bland. More will come but its gameplay and functionality thats currently more important.

The entire map should be accessible to zeds, more than players can get to. I'll see if I forgot anywhere.

Absolutely hate the new bash animations.
It used to have a very distinct wind up, and then clearly strike forward, was nice and intuitive to what the bash accomplishes, very satisfying trash headbashes.
Now you just sort of flop your gun around, yet it only actually hits stuff still after a windup and only in the middle of the screen.

On smaller zeds, bashes will stumble them. On bigger zeds, one bash will only make the stop a moment, not stumble back. Two bashes can add up into making them stumble back.

I can tag some places in the video for you, For example, it was really hard for the zeds to get to me when I was standing on top of that roof on the left side, only one crawler found it's way there when I went up there. Remember that DBS-jumping is a thing. Also got on top of this armoured vehicle behind some sandbags and zeds couldn't get to me at all

You have a long road ahead, but the path you took is right. I suggest:
1. work on your 9mm accuracy. You'll be using 9mm more than you think about it. M14 or LaR bodyshots on trash won't do you any good in the long run.
2. Siren scream cancels and Huskshot dodges. You need those skills in the long run as well. Know when to poke Sirens and know when to jump outta way of Husks.
3. Work on pistols before moving to rifles as their recoil pattern (bullet deviation and kickback) pretty similar to rifles.
4. If bored, play Commando or use offperk ARs to keep your interest fresh.
Rest are personal skills you should gain, not worth detailing. You can buy DLC shit to have a go at it, but it's optional.

Ok, this is what I wasn't accounting for. I'll get round to clipping off any areas like that. You're right on top of where zeds spawn and i think i listed it as "out of sight" since the vehicle is in the way so if you go there at rounds start you'd probably see them spawn.

I kinda agree

While it looks significantly less cool, it's much, much more useful in-game; the windup was too long and usually resulted in you taking a sword to the face before you can actually hit anything. It was quicker to switch to the pistol and bash with that than use a rifle.
