Hi, I'm SolarPleTeX, and I'm addicted to achievements.

I've been using the site for a couple years but never got around to joining until I heard about the achievement trading threads. I'm not that hardcore of a gamer, and I don't play many games but when I do, I can't stop until perfect every aspect of it. Now, I've reached the point of my gaming career where my games have online-only achievements and all my friends play Steam games on the PC so they're no help.

I was able to live with it when Halo 3 and Halo 3 ODST came out (lol vidmaster challenges) because I'm not that great of a FPS player (despite playing lots of FPS games) but now, I feel that my achievements list needs more zeroes in it. So, I'm poking my head in here to see if I could get a couple boosting parties going for a couple "old" games and then work through my backlog and then help other people out too =) (because I hate being a leech).

Have the reload animations always magically disappeared if you sprint while reloading? I can't see the reload animation if I hit sprint after starting a reload and trying to shoot is impossible since it's still reloading. Then the numbers magically change to show that it's done reloading.

It is distracting and jarring as hell for me.

On one hand I feel like it's more of a challenge since you can't just cheese easy A+'s with Zack or Carl but on the other hand there's a lot of levels that are just not fun in any way. Take Over, No Mercy, and Final Cut have been horribly painful to go through. Couple going for high scores with the increased focus on guns and you're gonna have a bad time. On the bright side by the time this shit show's over and I've 100%'d it I'll know everything I shouldn't do when going into the map editor.

Get a M308 a Locomotive or a Judge shotgun. That's damage.

Get the Improved combat vest. To unlock it you need to ace the final skill in the "tank" skill tree. Get the muscle perk deck for hp regen and loads of health.

Those two are for survivality during Loud missions.

You can try soloing all of the stelf Bain missions. That way you can learn the basics of stealth, then you can tackle something intermediate like Shadow Raid or Murky Station.

For fast/dodge builds you can invest points in the crook or rogue perk decks. They have their pros and cons but they seem fun to me.

The primary issue with dodgers is they don't behave normally. Luring them is a pain in the ass, they almost always reset back to their original position instead of patrolling where they last saw you like normal mobsters, and if you make the mistake of aggroing one while you have a gun it's a big pain in the dick. Murky Station has highest solo stealth EXP, Shadow Raid has decent EXP and high payout for solo stealth. Do these ones on DW by the way, stealth DW isnt much more difficult than OVK stealth.

Rats, Hoxton Breakout, Hotline Miami, First World Bank, Alesso, Golden Grin, and Firestarter all have pretty good payouts in terms of both EXP and cash, but there difficulty match the payout.

NGBTO is both an acronym and the worst thing to ever be created for the game. The creator of the mod himself regrets adding hour filters to overkill difficulty. He intended it to be a tool for hosts to quickly check out players and see if they will be a liability on Death Wish, at least in a basic way. Any host that runs hour filters on Overkill lobbies are true scum.

I forgot a really nice mod, SPL sets. Changing skill trees changes your entire loadout, making swapping from loud to stelf or from armor to dodge very easy.

Also, to "Activate" cards on perk decks, you need to invest perk points. Perk points are earned just by getting normal EXP, at differing exchange rates based on level.

Once a card is activated on a perk deck, you cannot deactivate it, or take points out.

Final thing, the payouts for missions are split 80:20 Offshore:Spending.
Spending cash quickly becomes useless.
Offshore money is used for Infamy (Basically COD-esque prestige, resets level and spendable skill points, but lets you keep purchased weapons and perk decks, Infamy 2-5 allow you to reduce the points required to invest into a top-tier skill, i.e. instead of 18 points invested needed to get Iron Man, only 16 points are needed) and purchasing contracts, as well as using it for "Offshore Payday" which is a shitty mechanic so dont bother.

I wish this game had more non-weapons to put in the primary and secondary slot.
It's like, saw and grenade launcher and that's it.
No ballistic shield, no extra ammo for alternate slot, no 35 concealment "nothing", no +1 deployable, no passive boost that, say, increases dodge or bag movement or lockpick speed.
All I really need is 1 gun and the saw is just not concealable enough for every build.

regarding the counterstrike skill, do i need to hold the melee button for a long time so the attack is fully charged or it's required for the skill to work against cloakers ?

The second your melee begins charging, you are eligible to counter an asshole.
When you do get melee'd while charging, the enemy gets knocked back and the game forces you to "release" your swing. This swing still does full damage, if it connects.
Faster melee weapons will let you counter several enemies quickly, while slower melee weapons give you more time to aim the swing on an enemy's dick.
It's very satisfying to charge my axe, get kicked, slowest 1 second of my life, and execute a cloaker flawlessly.

Disables primary weapon. Shield blocks all damage from the front, except for explosions and sniper fire. Maybe also turrets, not sure if those are armor piercing.

After a while the shield gets destroyed, but you can replenish them with ammo bags.

While equipped, it gives unidirectional damage reduction, has a "durability" that goes down as it gets shot and that damage reduction goes lower and lower until durability reaches 0 and the damage reduction caps out. I would limit the use to of weapons while holding the shield to some pistols and smgs , you cannot aim down sights instead you get the same generic zoom as akimbo, bigger damage reduction in front and smaller on sides and zero on back, also thought of you being able to brace yourself that gives you temporary damage reduction like maniac that goes down with time and faster when shot, give that some cooldown and heavy movement speed while doing it, the shield would also give a similar speed reduction to the old lmgs, could also do multiple types of shield with smaller damage resistances but lighter being transparent, to heavy full metal shields. shields that are not as wide so they only give front resistance but it's more moderate and other stuff, last time i saw people talking about it, some mentioned that could only be used with certain light armors to avoid people getting broken frenzy level of armor just by having it as passive and properly playing with it

Sensor mines, especially on big maps.

ECMs are only good en masse with a team otherwise that one minute of extra time probably won't be enough time to finish the objective(s) and get the bag(s) out.

And just put mines down in high traffic areas and places where you think to yourself "Gee I wish I knew if a guard was going to pop up around that corner". You know you did a good job if the guard convention triggers the mines so much that it's just infinite beeping. Well that's an exaggeration but you get my point. Also helps pubs a fucking lot because the beeping reminds them that there are guards coming.
