Burst is just Burst, Overdrive is a temporary super mode that also works as a cancel on activation and consumes your Burst gauge, Counter Assault is just V-Reversal for 50 meter, Rapid Cancel is a regular cancel that costs 50 meter, and Active Flow is a thing where you regain your Burst faster when you attack.

If I know you're about to advance I still need to take a coin flip between controlling the ground or looking to anti air. In other games you can't just dash in for free because anybody who's paying attention will stop it easily. In sfv your 3f might still get clipped even if your reaction is on point so all you can really do is guess when they're gonna dash if you want consistent results

You should be able to tell why it's like this by just looking at each game. Guilty Gear characters don't have natural gravity, clothes effects, or any of that stuff that SFV has. In GG Xrd a characters entire model is animated, not just the skeleton like other 3d games. It isn't a matter of it not clipping, it's more like they were animated in a way that makes clipping hard to happen because all clothing and hair is animated frame by frame.
It's also the reason why Xrd doesn't have alt costumes.

It isn't about the animation when it comes to the hair since it pretty much animates on it's own through some effect. how do i get better at SFV? i tried going to /v/ but fuck them. i'm a lvl.32 chun-li main. i do fine against any character except for ryu(my ken game is better). i was close to silver rank but dropped down like crazy after a few silver ranked matches. nobody in this game makes me rage hard like shoto players. i came from mortal kombat and that game never had this problem. there is no neutral game. ryu/ken have huge advantages over other characters especially with fire balls and DP


i'v watched videos on how to play the game, character combos and everything. i hate how i cant even get up/defend myself cause the next hit already gets me. at least MK had breakers to use unlike here. v-reversal only working when blocking but not when getting hit. this game has my yelling at my tv sometimes. i even keep a pair of crush grips when i get salty. i watch CFN of top chun players, i do what they do but i feel people fight dirty unlike the "pros".

There's no such thing as "fighting dirty". What these people beating you are doing is finding a tactic that works against you (like fireball spamming) and crushing you with it. The reason you dont see pros do it is because it doesnt work against pros. There is a way for you to overcome that strategy, you just havent found it.

Learn to jump as they're throwing a fireball by anticipating when they'll throw one and you'll be dealing huge damage that will end that spamming real quick. Also chun li's super goes through fireballs if timed correctly

The long and short of it is that you're new and you just havent experienced these things before, but I promise that kind of flow chart ryu/ken play literally ONLY works on people who are learning the game. At higher levels of play, chun is considered as good or better than either ryu or ken

I've been thinking, what even is the point of playing fighting games? First person shooters are so much better in every aspect. Population, recognition, career, respect, skill, fun. You see, a bad player in a competitive shooter will never, EVER win. Yet in fighting games a bad player can get away with acting totally random and in fact he is often rewarded for it. In no other game genre you have to learn how to deal with 'noobs' on top of learning the game, simply because every other genre is well designed and VS fighting is still stuck in the 90's. The saddest thing is, when a good game comes around the corner that dares to defy the common tropes that make the end product a bad game, like Skullgirls, it is coldly rejected for being "different". Gems get swept under the rug and we keep on playing the latest Crapcom game just because. That's why I decided to sell my fightpad for a pro gamer mouse and keyboard. I am going to invest time into Counter-Strike, Shootmania Storm and Battlefield, become proficient on these games, and make myself a name for myself. Maybe even integrate a team and play for real money. See you all on the other side, sooner or later, when this epiphany strikes all of you. In the meantime, go ahead, point at me, mock me. But know that I'm much happier than each and every one of the FG "C".

And no, I dont mean difficult with the input, I could get DP's out fine when I played 3 and IV. 5f Reversals just arent coming out against moves that shouldnt be safe (like -2 on block moves). It makes it super frustrating because I know my opponent is going to keep mashing buttons and I cant really do anything to keep them from pressuring like a retard.
