Sure but it takes quite a long amount of time to grow, fertile soil and it's also used as food.

With a specialty-made algae you can plop down a bunch of vats, some nutrients and then scoop them up for conversion.

Jesus Christ on a pogo stick! The whole point of THAT SPECIFIC STRAIN OF MICROALGAE is that they are made for FUEL AND FUEL ONLY! The only thing that "eats" them is the device that turns them into biofuel. Period.

And what does that mean? It means you want to have a algae that reproduces crazy fast and produce tons of simple saccharides for conversion into ethanol. Or in the case of biodiesel, oils, that's it, as long as it does the above two things it's more or less golden.

Ok, seems like something CLANGed on the way there.

Problem: we need fuel
Solution: fuel from organic sources
Problem: corn is shit at it, requires fertile soil, takes a long time to grow, requires appropriate climate, is also used as food
Solution: genetically engineered microalgae (to be done) that is optimized for biofuel production, can easily be grown in a vat and doesn't take away fertile soil
BONUS! You can use it on a space station as a secondary oxygen generator+fuel source, since (as you mentioned) astronauts might not like green sludge that might or might not have mutated into a toxin-producing strain due to radiation you can keep it as a fuel source/part-time oxygen generator only while foodstuff plants are handled separately.

So it's just an untested idea from the pages of science fiction, or has actual science been done to test this hypothesis?

Is it meant to make RP-1? Or hydrogen? From what base material? What is the chemical process, does the algae use photosynthesis, meaning windows on ships?

Sounds more like philosophy than science at this point.

You do realize that we are only able to make a few particles of antimatter at a time using gigantic, energy-hungry particle accelerators, right? And by particles I mean shit like anti-protons, we have only managed to make an atom of it ONCE.
>>
>>151776265

yes they have. There's not many methods available, and they all require more energy than the antimatter contains, much less the amount it contains + the cost of keeping it in a pauling trap.

Oh, for god's sake don't bring flat-earther logic into this. It's a decent discussion.

There are no other methods. We'd have found them in the last century if there were. Particle accelerators are the ONLY way to make them in existence. Pauling traps are the ONLY way to store them, and they're not foolproof either because the universe forbids perfectly stable fields.

Not making your killer cyborgs look feminine, or like sexy fine ass ladys with huge tits and asses.

>The second model in a series of combat robots intended for MOUT deployment (Mobile Operations in Urban Terrain). The Mk2 is built primarily with plastics (highly resilient, flexible, and light weight) and reactive ceramic armour. Quick and agile, the Mk2s utilise speed and surprise in guerilla warfare, and are effective against both soft and hard targets. The Mk2 has performed admirably in field use, and suffers only from restraint issues; incidences of friendly fire in which whole detachments of allied infantry have been wiped out are commonplace. Studies have shown that a female appearance significantly deters return fire from human combatants, and this empathic delay adds precious seconds for the Mk2 to close in on its target. International weapons trade of the Mk2 is steadily climbing, despite high manufacturing costs, and expensive maintenance.

FUCK.

So I have hydrofoils on the bottom of my boat as suggested, and a PID that controls the pitch with them. On the PID description it says that to control the pitch, you must mount the hydrofoils on the back of the ship backwards.

Ok, so this works when I'm going forward.

HOWEVER, when I go backward, the hydrofoils all go completely insane and bring the boat's back up in the air and you can't go backward even at a low speed.

WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE FFS.

Have you ever had cold and, subsequently a runny nose, when you feel like you're going to sneeze, like, you're going to sneeze any moment now, but you don't, and it goes several times like that, and when it finally happens and you actually sneeze, you feel like you're cumming, with your nose and snot instead of semen. Ever had this kind of situation? Feels really weird. Funny, but weird.

To keep this /egg/-related: dedicated helispinners in FtD need a "thruster" mode that makes them respond to PID control. Also, PID controllers could use a range slider like on ACBs.
>>
>>151794963

I'm a kind of an eco-tard and I support the hell out of peaceful atom. Even with all the shit it gives, it is much better than burning fossil fuel by a fucking margin.
My only grieve is that we use uranium/plutonium instead of safer and more efficient thorium because it can't go boom, which is half of the reason it is considered to be safer.
Of course, if we can get the fusion rolling, I would be rooting for it instead, though I would still be preferring fission over fossil fuels, because it even safer ecology-wise, more efficient (in theory) and requires fuel abundantly present in the universe, even if it's helium-3 and not hydrogen isotopes.

>>151819878
Because solars are a fucking horrible idea on a state scale? Because they generate power only in the fucking day, and if we went full solar, a single cloud would take out the entire fucking energetic network?
Energetics aren't just "plug in power source and everything is fine," kiddo. We didn't have solars at all until the recent years because of electronic phase changing. You have to babysit solars like a fucking idiot because they're so unstable a source. Not to mention that solars cover up thousands of square kilometers of land, agricultural land a lot of the time, which could be used otherwise. And then have fun maintaining them, you fucktard. A single wire goes wrong on any panel and you can throw the entire thing out.
On a per-house basis, like Musk is advocating, though? Sure, sign me in. It's a lot cheaper to just put solars on your tiny little forest house instead of hooking up to the grid in a lot of places. That's the real use for solars - small, secluded applications, including secluded shanties, speedometers, satellites, rovers and other autonomous robots

The problem with that is that shielding is heavy, so you have to put your water reserves between the reactor and the crew.
This also means that any other person that is behind or to the side of the reactor is going to get a dose of radiations.

Where the fuck did I suggest solar power on a state scale? Solar power works great just the way it does now. Cashed up yuppies stick a few panels onto their house so they can get a power subsidy. The more people that do it, the better. Fundamentally, we agree with each other.

However, you will notice that this application of solar energy doesn't prevent the simultaneous use of nuclear power. BOTH WORK! AT THE SAME TIME!

tl;dr Musk Uber Alles.

Scientists know fuckall about it except that apparently it's some kind of internal allergic reaction that causes swelling that somehow collects calcium or something.
I was lucky to be diagnosed early, thank fuck government agencies have very thorough medical checks for any applicants.
I was rejected with that shit despite it being completely irrelevant for position I was aiming for.
>>
>>151821476
By extension, in applications where the ship will be within view of the sun a solar panel coupled with a ion drive is much safer as far as radiation hazard goes. Lot less efficient sure but less dangerous for the crew

Far system missions and ones that have to operate in darkness, do, retard.
Guess what SOHO has? Solar panels. Guess what basically every satellite in Earth orbit, even the geostationary and GPS ones have? Solar panels. The absolute minority of satellites and rovers rely solely on RTG power, and a lot of those you'll find behind the asteroid belt.

>Solar power works great just the way it does now.
Except that's not at all how it works. Look anywhere in middle Europe, travel down any interstate and you'll see fucking solar farms taking up fertile land, so much so that just in 2013, solar plants made up almost half of "renewables" (the other half of which is wind, which is an entirely different chapter of retardation), and said renewables can be taking up to 6% of all electricity production in the EU. When 6% of the grid just goes offline each night, it's not a fun time to manage.

I don't know about the US, but there must be at least a few of those around. There's still a difference between photoelectric plants and solar plants, though. Some just reflect sunlight and heat up liquid salts to get power the old fashioned way which is, as far as I know, more efficient and eco-friendly than any solar panel farm, either from the standpoint of manufacture or actual conversion efficiency.

I think the main reason for the shift to solar panels as opposed to those mirror-based reflection farms has to do with cost-to-power efficiency. I suspect those mirror farms have a high cost of upkeep and maintenance.

I mean, these are power plants we're talking about. They're high-stakes and expensive to build. There has to be some kind of practical reason for choosing one renewable energy design over the other. I refuse to believe it comes down to pure ideology.

Should I get this game? Is the primary goal Minecraft with co-operative building elements but also trolling? Can servers support multiple groups of people (you split off, do your shit, steal resources, etc)? Or is this just mostly a comfy lego simulator? Will there be any sort of campaign mode or atleast persistent PvE elements added to the game (alien species, pirates, predatory animals on the planets, etc)?

After No Memes Sky was a let down (and the developer caught red handed lying) I'm looking at finally buying both Kerbal and Space Engineers to fill the void this shitty game left. When you look at the night sky, you see billions of other stars, many have other worlds orbiting them, it doesn't matter that half of those stars is already gone by the time their light reaches the Earth. It is an infinite sea of possibilities, a lush crown of the universe.
Depths of the ocean, on the other hand, represent the roots, buried deep beneath the waves where even the light cannot reach them. A dark place, teeming with life in many of it's peculiar forms, but all of them can exist solely in these conditions - a harsh contrast with numerous worlds with many ways life on them could take in every corner of that place.

Alternatively, people are just as afraid of thing that can dwell in the depths of space as they afraid of what can dwell in the depths of the oceans. The difference is that space is distant.
It is a primal fear of the unknown, from the time when darkness was full of predators and the only safety was that around the campfire. Fear of unknown in the darkness is justified, letting it out of control, however, isn't.

avorion is an upcoming game with some unholy witchcraft levels of optimisation. people have reported being in an area with thousands of bits of debris floating around and not dropping below 60 fps ever. we're holding off on playing the demo to not burn out on it before release, but it's probably the most promising game in this entire general since it's the only game that plays like a game.

reassembly is kind of feely comfy but is multiplayer in the spore sense of the word, and is a 2d game

factorio is feely and somewhat comfy if you like bathing in aggressive biting aliens, but is a 2d city builder more than space voxel game

machinecraft runs pretty well on toasters but it's just a lobby for showing off your autistic creations unless you host a combat server yourself

I used to go nuts on the signal networking until I made this loop. Believe or not it completely unlocked my skill at doing (simple) tracks, I assume because it worked as a plain visible closed system.

Other than that I play the game in the simpliest way. I like the comfyness of basic automation. Of course it depends of what you put behind the word "simple".

Fucking this.
Factorio becomes a pretty comfy relaxing game if you silence your inner autistic self and just wing it. Just keep a burner drill on every resource in the remote chance you imperially fuck up and go with the flow.
Need to make science packs and doing them by hand is a pain in the ass? No worries, drive three belts of coal, cooper and iron and start putting down your assembly line.
Soon enough you'll start to wonder if you couldn't make that more efficient fast, or if you couldn't reuse some more f the materials for other chains.
In time you'll reach the equilibrium between being autistic about efficiency and speed and enjoying a glass of purified piss toasting in front of a row of roaring furnaces.

But starting right off the bat with the handbook of logistic engineering at your side is a sure way to kill the enjoyment. At least it was for me

I was wondering, have a girl ever been attracted or interested by your engineering feats?
I can hold my own in factorio planning, redstone engineering and similar tasks, however when approaching girls I've found that no, my redstone 8-bit CPU isn't that great and no, neither is that balanced plant.
but I get good results with witty jokes or showing off with an instrument

For CRAMs: Bigger == better. 1 material hooked to four autoloaders == two materials and two autoloaders hooked to each other == four materials each hooked to its own autoloader. Hit 2000mm and tetris that shit.

For APS: Frag = good against soft targets with one layer shields. EX = good against anything with close shields, amazing against soft targets. Kinetic = good against weak shields. Make sure to balance cooling and loading so you're wasting neither.

success of the trading system will hinge on what the player can actually DO with the different commodities

if you can only do the usual trading, like trade food to tourism stations, trade raw materials to shipyards and factories, that stuff isn't very interesting.

if each commodity has special interactions however, like
>being able to hand out personal weapons to your crew and send them to board enemy ships
>being able to use personal transportation vehicles for transit inside big capital ships/stations, making your crew a little more efficient
>make your crew less likely to mutiny when unpaid if you hand them luxury goods like personal electronics and liquor
>keeping various intermediate materials (armor plating, cables, machinery, computer chips etc) and keeping a checkbox ticked lets your crew use those materials for speedier repairs
>keeping power cells in your cargo can serve as backup power when another checkbox is ticked
would make it a lot more interesting than just having X useless commodities in your cargo destined solely for trading to NPCs

also
>research stations asking for certain commodities to complete an item (Greetings Captain, we've done the numbers and we've figured out we need 6 Sheep to finalize the prototype Dual Shock Lance!)
>NPCs being fed up with a player shooting their shit and giving out missions to hunt down the player for credits and other rewards

>Particle cannons: use them as a main "fuck you" gun, otherwise they are too power hungry

I use a small one with EMP damage as a AA gun and it works beautifully!
Flying Squirrels? Instant death
Most smaller fliers? One or two shoots needed.

It's beautiful! And it works quite good against smaller enemy vessels so it can pull anti ship duty.
>>
>>151845365
Showed my current gf my fuckhueg spengies build when we started dating, after playing league of legends and eating pizza at my place. She doesnt even care about spes or engineering that much, but she liked my passion for both (well, not proper engineering but engineering to normies). Less vidya-related activities followed very quickly after I had a little rant about that spengies project and my interest in spes.

So no, I only have one example really and it isnt even proper engineering to any degree. BUT, and it is a big but, if you can find a girl with similar interests or who cares a lot about intellect/passion in your hobbies then it can be very beneficial to you. That's a lot more common than engineering-interested women too.

1-axis are the ones that can only move horizontally, and are the best suited for big turrets.
2-axis can move both vertically and horizontally, so they are better for small turrets

Literally someone's job. You might think it's stupid or weak or pointless.

At least give it a go, man. What do you stand to lose (besides a bit of money, not even that if you're a student in many places).

Maybe you wouldn't ask your friends or family to fix your car, but you'd go to a mechanic right?
>>
>>151847882
color me surprised then, as I feel the same way, the family business being a souvenir shop where I had to keep guard at the counter and peddle our wares to tourists.
But let me give you a small piece of advice(tho if you are like me you'll likely disregard), find someone that could even partially understand you(even us eggers) and tell them what ails you, in the long run it'll be better. Everyone have his problems and burdens and everyone should deal with them, but telling other people, trusted or unrelated of course, usually gives you another point of view and helps with finding out a solution
>>
>>151848772
just writing out your emotions and exploring them just by yourself can be useful too - often explaining things to people helps further your own understanding or perspectives too

Jesus Christ, I don't think I have that much space, but it's a great idea. I thought I would put AI stuff and other needed blocks below the guns, with a door, or an engine room. I made little doors and everything. I actually could put at least some stuff down there now that I think of it, so the cannon itself would fit flush with the upper armor, but it wouldn't be a room you can enter then. Which I guess is irrelevant, but it seemed logical to be able to enter a lower deck or something.

I don't read the KSP threads. I don't know what they call me. I lived in a large RV in Bellevue, WA, for a while, and then moved into an apartment in Seattle this year (RV's 50A water heater was shot and burnt out the park's electrical system, so they told me to GTFO. I ended up getting pnuemonia since the water heater also heated the RV's interior).

I now work with Brilliant Skies on FtD and occasionally dick around with a project making a community patchset for SE called SECE.

It's a good thing that stars don't have helium then :^)

You could have said that by pressurizing helium, you could have more helium in the same place, so you would have extra lift

I am not too good with physics, but my immediate reaction is that it (probably) doesn't work that way.

Plus, this is just a modified air pump that puts the "liquid" level at the beginning of the atmosphere reduction zone (300m on Neter) and reduces the amount of buoyant lift by 1/3rd.
>>
>>151865913
>350 megagram
fixt
>>
>>151866385
that makes sense though....does it not?
more helium = more lift
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afEGx4jpFzo
>>
>>151866761
no not necessarily

more helium volume will displace a lot of atmosphere and be lighter, but if the volume of helium doesn't increase it only increases the density of the helium and thus is heavier

i mean, this is basic stuff
>>
>>151866112
A hot air/hydrogen/helium baloon work on the same principle as a boat: the strenght buoyancy depends on the weight of the displaced fluid.

In other words: if something wants to float then it needs to be overall less dense than the fluid it's displacing, be that water, air or mercury (iron float on mercury because it's less dense than it)

A helium baloon float because the average density of the baloon+cabin is less than the density of air, this is why the baloon is huge compared to the cabin (air density changes with altitude and temperature too)

By "compressing" helium it means you are pushing more of it into the same volume.
However this causes the density of the baloon to increase (density=mass/volume), meaning less lift.
>>
>>151866761
Well, here's my understanding of buoyancy:

Shit floats when it has less density than the medium it's in.

Air density < Water density, so air floats.
Helium density < Air density, so helium floats.

Pressurizing helium would make it denser, and therefore, probably reduce its effective buoyancy.

Then again, I am shit at physics so I am probably wrong.
>>
>>151866696
>>151867074

If you are shit at physics why are you coding in a physics game

ree
>>
>>151867292
Because I let Nick handle all the complex physics shit, and if I do anything involving physics, I ask him whether I'm going the right way about it. Such as was the case with just adjusting the airpump for helium. Since he approved, I'm reasonably happy with it. I was considering doing a full density vs. displacement calculation, but decided that would probably be ugly, performance-wise. Nick agreed.

In FtD, how do you make the smallest gun with the most penetration? I managed to make some gun with explosive shit etc. that made massive explosions that pretty much destroyed a small ship outright if it wasn't made from armor blocks, but against armor blocks it was utter shit.

Is there a way to make an armor-penetrating gun that first penetrates and then explodes or something? Is this even a good thing?

CRAM: hardener+HE pellets, add fuse box, penetration depth and/or time since first impact fuse. Every fuse takes 1/4 of payload.
AdCannons: sabot head and shitload of gunpowder for maximum AP; composite/AP head + HE charge(s) + penetration fuse for depth charge.

>Is there a way to make an armor-penetrating gun that first penetrates and then explodes or something? Is this even a good thing?
Yes, there's penetration fuses for both CRAM and APS
They are only worth in the CRAM imo, APS explosions are not that intresting

>>151870952
Play around in the designer a lot before even attempting the campaign, even the easier difficulties will kick your arse. Dissect in-game designs and see what makes them tick. Sacrifice a jew in an oven in praise for based Hitler-Sama.

>>151870138
For nucannon ammo sabots have the best penetration and can easily perforate enemy ships, but it can't carry any effective explosive filler so it only does that. If you want to penetrate AND blow stuff you want to build a composite-headed shot with either HE, flak or frag (or a mix of thereof) filler and a penetration depth fuse. However later on when shielded ships start to show up you want to stick an inertia fuse to the mix or replace the pen-depth one. Other than that HEAT and frag shots in general will usually result in havoc in the enemy ship's insides and the two are probably the best types of ammo currently, especially when mixed together with an inertia fuse.

Thanks, I'm doing this on a CRAM, what about the barrel? I made a comically wide Metal Slug-like one, I'm not sure about its effectiveness though.
>>
>>151872482
CRAM has absolute shit muzzle velocity. Don't even bother trying to raise it past 120 m/s.
If you use (presumed one-axis) turret, you put a single piece of elevation barrel, then regular and motor barrel in 1:1 proportion 'till you happy with the stats.
If your cannon is hull-mounted, you lay down the same 1:1 regular+motor, plus one piece of regular instead of elevation barrel.
>>
>>151872986
and if you're using a 2-axis turret, use fewer motor barrels because they aren't as good as regular barrels per cost and weight
>>
>>151873383
>2-axis CRAM
I wonder how efficient it is compared to 1-axis one.
You would probably have to use twin cannons and make a nice big ball of high-explosive dakka. Though with crap CRAM muzzle velocity you wouldn't need long barrels.
>>
>>151873821
Twin cannons on a single turret or what?

I'm still trying to decide if I need two turrets or not, maybe I should just go with one and something else on the right part of the ship, missiles or something.

Or a centrally mounted turret with two barrels?

"There! Its done!" the engineer said, " now i just need to turn it on". *click*. at first, there was silence. A single drop of sweat could be heard hitting the glass on the engineers helmet. A slight look of concern was imprinted on his face. He had heard rumours. Rumours of what happened to people who had gone too far. "It cant be..." the engineer thought. "No such thing could possibly..." C L A N G could be throughout the room, gears grinding, pistons hammering away, steel bending and cracking under the intense pressure. The otherworldly noises echoed into engineers mind, each iteration amplified and fracturing into separate, but distinct tones. Sounds rebounding against the insides of his skull, only to recreate the original sound. Time seemed to stop, for the engineer, as the sounds filled his mind, replacing all forms of coherent thought that had once resided within it. A red light blinked in the corner of the engineers suit, "LOW VITALS" could be heard inside his mask, but the man was long gone. What seemed like an eternity had passed by in the blink of an eye, the engineer could no longer sense anything from outside. His mind had cracked, and his body along with it. Shattering into infinity, each tiny piece doing the same.

No trace of the engineer was ever found.

Trying to think of what to work on next for SECE: I've got the loading screen verbosity working again, so you can see what it's stuck on. I'm also working on fixing a serialization bug that's causing saves to fail when a remote-controlled ship exists.

Does spergies even run multithread?
>>
>>151891994
It solves server simspeed issues. Every single server with simspeed <0.8 is hosted on an ancient athlon 64 potato. Good enough to host 30 CSGO servers, but not good enough for KEEN code.
>>
>>151892178
>Does spergies even run multithread?
Debatable. Physics seems to be on one thread, but beefier single core performance (like skylake hexacore i7) will help as well. Overclocks help a lot too.
>>
>>151892372
Even so, that's a garbage solution. If a -good- quad core can't do it you really need to fix your shit. Only the most high-end sets will be running hex at this point in time. It's like saying "get a titan" to fix your problem
>>
>>151892593
I've always maintained i7 is a meme CPU and you dont need anything but a 2500k overlocked up the wazoo. Then I got into physics early access sandbox shit and was wiftly proven wrong.

Nigga you don't understand. Back this time last year, with spengies much more stable than it is now, a company giving us our own dedicated server hardware built with the best intel server chips money can buy didn't fucking solve the problems. Simspeed still tanked no matter what measures were enacted. We gave it the best shot technologically possible with going to absolutely retarded dual CPU xenon solutions (not that spengies is even multicore to begin with) and nothing we did yielded a stable long term solution for a multiplayer experience. We had the highest uptime, fastest simspeed, the best latency of any sever.

It was still constant pain and suffering and CLANG. You CANNOT AVOID HIM IN THAT DOMAIN. Every attempt yet so far has simply been a sacrifice of resources to the void.

Spengies is lost. Move on. Forget about it.
>>
>>151892867
*without, rather. There was no way we were getting the 32-core shit and nobody was gonna fork the cash over for a core2 dual-xeon Dell to mod. That's stupid. They gave us our very own dedicated badass i7 machine. Fastest shit they could order. We (he) paid through the dick for it.

You DO want an i7 for vidya games though.

That said, if a game needs a hex core, it's unoptimized to fuck and the devs need to pull their heads out of their collective ass.

Looking at you, Keen.

>It's all in Naziboo, but I am sure you guys can get the jist of it. We'd be going with the 250GB SSD option, no one needs 2TB space. 32GB RAM is beefy, more than Spengies will ever need, CPU can be overclocked to 4.3Ghz, which is what I am gonna ask for.

Pic related, the Warbros dedicated server we had for a time, even paying out the ass for exclusive use.
>>
>>151892867
>Spengies is lost. Move on. Forget about it.
When eggpyrion comes out of early access. If it comes out. Then we'll all join hands in a big circle and piddle all over KEEN's grave.
>>
>>151893241
>You DO want an i7 for vidya games though.
Why? Hyper threads dont affect performance in any significant way in 90% of games. Most games are GPU bound and can indeed run on a 2500k witthout dropping all the frame times like mom's spaghetti.

Games like besiege and BeamNG will skullfuck your CPU, but that's the outliers.

>>
>>151916723
spengies is painfully boring alone, you basically need friends to play the game thanks to how building individual blocks work, implying you're playing survival anyway
doesn't help that the netcode is bollocks and the physics like to spaz out as per usual with physics engines

>Can someone give me a quick rundown of what to expect if I buy Space Engineers?
Building a spess ship for an hour. Loading all your friends into it. Saying "to infinity and beyond lads". Server that YOU host on YOUR OWN rig desyncing. Spess ship you built breaking in two. Your friends dying. Sadness.

I have successfully built hydrogen ecenomy ships. You need couple large atmos pointing down for planets and some ions here and there in case you're running low in spess. Also pistion drill on the bottom so you can refuel in a minute.

/egg/ tell me if I should put a single turret in the middle of this with double cannons on it, two turrets like I planned (on the left and right) seem like an unneeded hassle, and if I make a single one then I can put most of the CRAM stuff below the hull as people already advised. Ignore the looks of the current turret, I'm just testing components.

Single turret, you get a better field of fire without AI failsafe derping. Building inside the hull is a good option as it makes the turret far more durable. It's not as important on babbycrams that might lose a few explosive pellets if they get hit, but if a nucannon gets a hit to a clip the whole neighbourhood blows up to kingdom come.

Also paint your bote. Seriously.

Ok, I'll do that for the missile, I'm trying to make a decently penetrating CRAM cannon btw.

Somewhat unrelated - is there any actual benefit of using beams as opposed to single blocks?
>>
>>151944956
>waving it goodbye

>>
>>151944969
Beams get a lot more health, all their health is lumped together, and there's less lag.
>>
>>151945175
Does that mean it's better to put structural beams in places or what? It seems to me that if a beam goes boom stuff will fall apart easier than if blocks do.

stuff will fall apart easier with blocks because those are more fragile.

>>
>>151945589
Anything that'd fall apart with beams will fall apart or suffer internal damage with blocks.

>>151946058
>>151946132
It depends on the size of the beam. 2m beams get +25%. 3m beams get +37.5%. 4m beams get +50%.
>>
So if I make a double barreled cannon, I have to supply each firing piece with its own stuff, essentially doubling its size in all components? Or am I misunderstanding something?
>>
>>151947693
If you're using CRAMs, yes. APS can have one to six barrels in one block
>>
>>151947693
If you use two firing pieces, each one is its own cannon and needs its own stuff.

If you adjust the barrels option on a single APS firing piece, still one cannon.
