You want optics, rammer and vents equipped with the autoloader.
Then take 10 gold rounds and the rest AP any more gold and its not profitable or actually needed often.

For the first half of the match you want to passive spot from a good bush if you can if not take out their light tanks while active scouting. Once all fighting has begun you want to aim to knock out the paper TDs first as this lets your team push up with out getting wrecked. Following this take out tier arty as this will help your heavies and is free damage. Then just help mop up, brit, American and French heavies all have very week side and real hulls so.don't be afraid to flank them.

Half the trick is not to punch above your weight in this tank some tanks like the e75 and jap heavies you can't pen with gold. If you can't pen it don't attempt to fight it.

The 59-16 really is a great tank. Take some time to get used to it and you will be fucking shit up left right and centre.

Also sidescraping is a meme in the IS7 by the time you get your gun out your lfp is so massive even the most inaccurate tanks in the game will hit it. If you're getting flanked/circled though try to make it so that their autoaim will hit your sides, it's fairly easy considering the length of the tank and how small your ass is.

I'd personally never use gld on any tank that isn't a td or arti because you can use optics+vents+rammer on low tiers that can't mount vstab. On higher tiers optics or vents is up to choice but generally I'd say optics is better than vents on all tanks except for a few heavies.
