The CB doesn't have a very strong shield unless it's charged, which is why you want to keep it red at all times. Depending on the monster, you may want to consider Guard+1, or even Guard+2.

As for the dodge, if you're playing Adept, you get the Perfect Block in sword and shield mode, and a Perfect Dodge in axe mode. CB is the only weapon that benefits from Adept in such a way.

You can also Perfect Dodge if your weapon is sheathed.

Ok, so its' 10%. I haven't gunned much in previous games so now my next question is, if I can forgo the Silencer and grab the power Barrel instead which gives me like 21 extra raw, will that offset it? Ideally of course, having both is the best scenario but I'm really infatuated with weakness exploit on this armor to go with it, as well as adrenaline+2.

If I GIT GUD enough to use Adren 2 then it doesnt really fucking matter because lol 30% attack but I'm trying to fill in with a good charm. I got a sick arty +10 talisman but I'm not using the Eldra Musket meme, though maybe one day.

None of the big MH sites seems to give clear answers and info on which parts of which monster have to be broken once or twice (or maybe thrice?) and whether you only get a reward for both breaks or one for each or anything

Right, but the recoil will work for Pierce level 2 and the internal ammo for my gun. Neither are rapid fired sadly, but I don't even know if getting recoil just for Sting ammo is worth it.

So I got the W. C Blade as my first artifact, but I don't necessarily care for the weapon much. Currently learning the weapon but what would be better for game play, Teostra path or Chrono path? I know Teostra has the most blast of any C. Blade but I am not familiar with how much it stacks in this game I prefer elemental damage over status.

What exactly are EX and R armor variants and how do you get them?

One is for hyper monsters right? What is the other?

Its based on the reasonableness that a normal person would have anticipated and acted to avoid the attack. Once an attack passes that threshhold it becomes bullshit and thus degrades the fun of the hunt because either you play extremely cautiously or take constant hits that force long periods of downtime. A good balanced monster should be threatening, but reasonably predictable. The best example of this is Glavenus. His moves are devastating, but not once have I called bullshit when hit by them. Same with Zinogre.

Yes, a chance. They were also the moves with the best openings to actually attack him. So you'd either not attack and miss your opening to attack, or attack and randomly have him cancel the shit into an instant death attack. It was completely random, and immensely frustrating.

GS is generally easy mode and CB had GPs that made Tigrex a fucking joke, but don't make it sound like other weapons couldn't reliably stagger him. Come on. Look at Rajang. He doesn't have untelegraphed bullshit and is genuinely hard when you first meet him. The raths and monsters like Garuga and Teostra still have bullshit charges that make the fights nowhere as fun. Teostra's is one fight that would be infinitely more fun if he didn't spam an untelegraphed instant charge like he does and it would still be somewhat challenging, specially if he detonated the clouds.

Of course nothing in the game is hard after you recognize the patterns of the monsters, but that's what the game should be about: learning the patters of the monsters and adapting to them. It should punish you for not adapting to the monster or for not being quick enough in your reactions. Genuine difficulty is when those patterns are still predictable but the timing of reaction is short or the dodging is difficult. Random instant charges that are completely unpredictable are not fun, not hard, but definitely bullshit.

The problem is that those charges are completely random and the hitbox is far too big for you to escape on time consistently. That's where unpredictability makes you always stay away from the front of the monster and attack the back constantly, motivating you to fight defensively.

Heck I still remember that TA video of a hammer doing Teostra where a guy, who probably did that fight hundreds of times, still got randomly charged quite a few times because those charges were completely unpredictable and he had to hit the head. Then suddenly Teostra stops doing it for minutes and just stays there while the dude stomps on his head. That's bad design, simple.

Why don't they have those same charges, fixed hitboxes and slightly increased damage, but have some short telegraphing? That would force you to learn when it will do the charge and reward you for adapting.

I'll give you Teo because his charge is legitimately annoying. The Raths and Garuga won't even charge if there's no target after they do the turn, so just stand to the side of their head.

As for Teo, if you don't need horns then just circle around and hug his back legs.

If you do need horn then yeah, it's a pain. You can always bow his face, or wait for him to do his insanely telegraphed attacks like the seeping flamethrower or rear dust explosion to take a shot at the head.

This is the video. The charges I meantioned are 0:41 and 0:59. I honestly don't see how you can get hit "on purpose" there considering those charges are completely unpredictable.

I understand the point of view of "reasonable predictability" but what that causes is that some monsters like Zinogre are fun to fight even when you don't need to fight them, while with the Raths most people just fight them for the rewards and materials and then just leave.
