I'm trying to create a set of armor for these baddies, but I've never made custom sprites for starbound before so I'm at a bit of a loss on how everything's put together and shit.

My main concern is that ripping sprites from the games could get the mod hit with a C&D or otherwise removed by whatever site's hosting the mod.

What do you guys expect from fishing? Just food source? I'm thinking maybe something like Terraria where you can get loot out of it. If this is the case, it'll probably give better loot on crazier planets, similar to how reward bags work.

It'd be neat if they let you fish in all liquids and rarer ones like liquid slime had special things in them. I doubt they'll do that, though.

I think the game kind of forces you to adopt this mindset, unfortunately. You can settle on a gentle star, but then all your loot and such will suck. If you wait until you can get to fiery stars, your ship is probably big enough/you're probably close enough to the end of the game that you don't need to settle anymore, really. I think settling down and building is surprisingly fulfilling in Starbound, but they really don't give you much incentive to do so.

Sandman here has a lovely outfit, but nothing in the game gets close to emulating it. We have old lady dresses, no blindfolds (which should be dead simple to make anyway), and I'm pretty sure there isn't a single stocking-like thing in the game. Pants, sure, but no stockings.
I'm trying to make it myself, but it's slow going. I have little experience with spritework, and man is there a lot of minor changes and states that need to be done for any sort of non-head armor.

The idea I was thinking of what skipping on some of the minute details or simplifying them. For instance, the buckle on the blindfold being a 3x3 pixel square with the center missing or something. Then the red ribbon on the front on the dress, the sleeves (the Avali mod has really well made sleeves that I was basically going to sprite overtop), then probably just a single pixel black strip as the belt. Stockings were probably going to just be white with a gradient at the feet.
Trust me, I may not be experienced with making the things, but I know how much detail is lost in something this small. I've done spriting for SS13, just not a lot.

Anyway, just beat Starbound, I had fun with it.

Now to spend ten times longer than I ever did on single-player just fucking around, building up what I want, and doing server shit.

To anyone else who's modifying guns, you can change the projectiles on the "explosiveburst" ability into whatever you want, making them detonate after a set distance as opposed to on contact with blocks. Sadly balloons don't actually drop lava when you do this, but it works well with large meteors. Keep your projectile count low though, and don't hold the trigger down too long if you don't have sufficient burst time set.

The best tweak actually in the Pastebin, it's a thing you have to do through Steam.

You just right click where it says "Starbound" in Steam and click "Delete local game content."
