I love bestiaries in games.

I'll have one in mine with bonuses you gain for filling it up. To fill it up you need to clear 3 challenges per monster (kill monster, kill monster without getting hit once, kill monster x amount of times)

The bonuses will be very slight, like for filling up the information about ogre you'll gain 1% dmg increase.

There are several levels of lewds.
For instance, I'd say that your image is 7/10 lewd, and >>151419652 is 8.75/10 lewd.

I'd just like to interject for moment. What you're refering to as a Mech, is in fact, メカニカル, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Mecha. Mecha is not a genre unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning concept made manifest by the existence of vehicles, military equipment and of course, robots, comprising a full concept as defined by MAHQ.

Many posters use a modified definition of the メカニカル term every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of メカニカル which is widely used today is often called Mech, and many of its posters are not aware that it is basically the Robotech term, developed by Harmony Gold.
So unless discussing Robotech or Battletech, please refer to giant robots as "Mecha" and remember to lurk before posting to get used to board culture and knowledge on the subject that is unknown to you.

Replayed my first game today, held up 100x better than I initially thought it would. I've started two games since becoming a yesdev and have failed at both. I'm trying a new approach using things I've learned from my trials and tribulations and although it's tedious and stressful I'm doing much better.
All I can say is Game Design documents really do help you organize your thoughts. My coding in general has become much more coherent as well.

That depends on how that void pointer was allocated. If it is a pointer to a stack variable for example you'll fuck it all up if you delete it. So no, if you pass in a pointer argument the caller should be responsible for deleting it. With smart pointers you can make who's responsible for an object obvious.

This is completely wrong. Juice is important to give the player proper feedback for their actions. Consider bowling as an example: nobody would care about bowling if it didn't sound so great to hit the pins. Basically keep the game mechanics as simple as possible and focus on exactly what makes your game fun. Don't try to cram a bunch of extra shit that wont improve your game because usually it will make it worse.
When it comes to juice it's pretty much the same, way too much juice will just be distracting, have enough juice that you get the feeling across without it being over the top. Unless of course being over the top is the point of your game.

I added hornets to the game. They just fly in place, and once they spot you they try to fly to where Charlotte was. Once they get there, they'll try to fly to her current location, rinse and repeat. They also never stop attacking once they've seen you, so watch out.

I've now got a good way to resize the resolution for my 2d pixel game, it looks good but only if the resolution is a nice multiplication of my original resolution, aspect ratio doesn't matter since I just give it black bars and resize to closest resolution with my original's art aspect ratio.

With a 640x480 resolution, when the game is 320x240 or 1280x960 it looks good since it's a 0.5x and a 2x zoom respectively. But on every other resolution mixels appear.

Is there anything I can do? If the player wants to go fullscreen and they have some retarded resolution like 1440x900, it will looked fucked since it's not going to be a pretty 0.5x, 2x or even 3x multiplication.

Say they have a monitor that's 1366x768 and your game is set to 320x240. Your variable starts at 1, and goes up/down by 1. Day 24 of trying to make video games.

Dev time today was spent making VERY rough and VERY early animation tests for how the dancer will lower down on ropes or poles. Still kicking around ideas for what the poses will be, this is based on Esmerelda from Hunchback of Notre Dame but I intend to go through a number of different poses to see what I like; I'm worried this one has too much vertical movement that will confuse the player's actual position during the animation.

Haven't done coding lessons or art exercises today but will before I go to bed.

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you could help me out.

There's a colony ship heading to a new planet, and during the journey some disaster happens, so the captain has to defrost a specialist from stasis to deal with it. Depending on which disaster you get (mutiny, infertility epidemic, navigation loss, HAL-tier ship AI, etc) the player would get different scenes depicting what the end result was.

So if the ship AI killed everyone, there'd be a screen of a derelict ship floating in space, or if you couldn't solve the economic problems in the cryptocurrency they devised people would revert to a barter economy at the new world, and there'd be a scene depicting a bazaar with people trading chickens for fusion batteries or something. So like a dozen or so scenes depicting different endgames, lots of room for artistic vision with how people are dressed or what their environment is like, as long as the scene tells the story of the outcome.

Just put the F-18 in. It pretty much made me realize the lighting in my level is total shit so I'll probably change it eventually. along with everything

Not all the animations are hooked up yet but at least it looks nice in game so far.

Hello /agdg/. I'm someone who has lurked here for some time now and finally wants to man up and just like make game.

Been brushing up on some C# basics, and decided on Unity for my first prototype. I realize that it should be somewhat simple so I can actually see it through.

Here are my ideas so far

>Fantasy dungeon crawler focused on magic users
>Turn-based combat, real time dungeon-crawling (switches modes when in-combat)
>Want to get rid of the traditional idea of aggro range (attack one mob, but the guys just a door down can't hear the battle going on)
>Start out in concealment mode, emphasize importance in scouting ahead and getting a feel for the layout of the current level
>When finally starting (or being forced into) an engagement with an enemy on the floor you're on, all the enemies on the current floor hear the ruckus and either start looking around or start to fortify their current position
>Want to emphasize importance of positioning of your party to prepare the initial ambush, incoming onslaught, and finally flushing out the stragglers that fortified themselves in their rooms

I kind of painted it in my head as a magic-focused dungeon crawler with some tacticool mechanics. Like some sort of wizard Special Ops squad that gets sent to some tower that is overrun with the horrors some warlock unleashed.

How does this sound? Any advice from yesdevs that have tried something similar?

To be honest, I think his idea would solve your problem. You should manually set that how many bullets can be fired in one second.

I don't know what are you using for your game, but as an engine dev I usually face issues like this when my time step is fucked up. So if the game has high FPS/performance at one time, it will fire more bullets since the bullet shooting function can be called more in one second, and when it has a drop in performance, the said function will be called less, thus less bullets will be fired.

A procedurally generated open world exploration game set entirely in an ocean with islands you can build on and morph the terrain, like a cross between no man's sky, wind waker, pirates and minecraft

All technology is age of sail but set on an alien-style world with sea monsters, combat based on cannons, ramming and boarding swordfights.
