It's not stupid to put the skills you use most on the easiest hotkeys for you to reach. I organize my skills a bit differently though. I have regen, cure and cure II on Q, E, and X. My AoE heals are shift+2,3 and 6 (I have a g600 and the 6 button on the side is easy for me to hit). Divine seal, PoM, swiftcast, shroud, esuna are all on shift+d, e, r, x, c. Then I have benediction as shift+spacebar and tetra as shift+8 (another one that is only easy to hit because of my mouse). My damage skills are 1,2,3,4,5,6, 8 and I have asylum as 7, which doesn't fit with my pattern but again because of my mouse it's in a spot that works for me. Some of my stuff, like virus and e4e, are on the same keybinds that they are for scholar. I use the same general plan for all my jobs, with self buffs on shift+letters, damage/bread and butter on numbers, stuff that I need to hit quickly or my basic heals on Q,E,X (for example I use those for mudras for ninja, reprisal/low blow/dark arts on drk).

You want to do them with a full party because everyone brings maps and then you get the random drops/payout from aquapolis. You may not win any drops from the chests that are rolled for, but you'll still make good money. Usually people do map owner gets all outside loot (so people can get ores for relic is my guess as to why this is), then FFA inside aquapolis. I have seen "map owner needs, everyone else greeds" parties too though.

I don't know anything about WoW, but I can tell you the dungeons in XIV are mostly braindead, there's only one set of advanced raids per two patch cycles, gear is mostly a linear progression that is often locked by week, and you can and should play every single class on one character. It has many ups and downs.

WoW:

As you know dungeons go pretty fast in it, they don't go as fast in FFXIV until the very end.

Like when you enter WoD Bloodmaul Slagmines you're done in what 15 minutes? The first expansion dungeon in this game takes about 30-40 minutes.

Raiding is sort of different. There's only 4 wings per raid tier with 2 difficulties.

One is on tier with Raid Finder where you can just casually play. The other one is more like the current Heroics in WoW in terms of difficulty.

But it just puts you in front of the boss instantly, no trash no multiple bosses per instance just only you and the boss.

You do your daily random dungeon like in WoW for the equivalent of Valor points to buy gear with.

What I find most importantly differentiated is the story.
In World of Warcraft, at least at the time I played it (don't know if it's changed), you're not anybody. The player character is a faceless something that nobody acknowledges. All their victories and defeats are accredited to established characters, they serve no role other than to be a faceless executioner while everyone important goes about their business.
In FFXIV, the Warrior of Light is a character. People recognize this bizarrely silent invincible creature who slays gods and demons, beholden to no-one but willing to do the right thing if only because they give a pleasant nod when you ask them to. By the end of the story you're recognized as the most powerful mortal on the planet, having killed a score of godlike superbeings and ended two wars single-handedly. Many revere or fear you, and all pay attention to your comings and goings. Everyone relies upon your indomitable ability to kill fucking anything that comes your way. So on and so forth.
You're not much of a character, I admit. Mostly staring and nodding and collecting hats. The story will even acknowledge their somewhat unsettling lack of identity (and complete inability to refuse a request) occasionally, when the writers are being tongue-in-cheek. But "you" exist.
