Best Friends Play and Team 4Star are good for current games, Supergreatfriend and Shub (Iconoclast187) for old/shitty games.

It's Grudge, what botes use as fuel and for ammo.

Every mob drops it, and it gets in the way with everything. So I'm just voiding it basically, since it's so readily available from basically anything. The lumps can make for some nice decor blocks, and the Abyssium that can be made from it does have a nice sharp red color to it.

Less mods used fluids at the time, but nowadays a lot of the big mods (BuildCraft, ThaumCraft, Ender IO, Thermal Foundation, MineFactory Reloaded, Forestry, RailCraft) have their own fluids.

Everything is a convienence. Even Forge is a convienence, if you ask the people making JAR mods - effectively, at least some of the modding community seeks to make life less painful for others rather than more painful.

Also, the performance loss is neglible - and can even be a performance increase, as a good foundation can beat a mediocre custom implementation - while the results are worth it for aesthetics and added mechanics. Many mods (such as RedPower 2, BuildCraft's pipe system, Applied Energistics 2) simply had their own pseudo-multipart APIs built in instead, which causes the very same "issues" yet doesn't even add cross-compatibility.

The Multiblock is for power gen, if you so chose to use it. NEI recipe usage a Nether Star (or any of its fuels, like blaze rods) to show what else can be used as a fuel for it, and NEI usage the multiblock core to show the actual multiblock construction.

By the way, I figured out what's the multiblock thing about and I feel dumb for having never hit the use key on it. It uses certain items+a plain laser as fuel to generate power, including nether stars because why the fuck not.

Actually, mods have only become more open-source with time. The 1.2.5 Tekkit pack's only major open-source mod was BuildCraft, and that was purely due to circumstances of the time.

Anyhow, they can be replaced whether they're open-source or not; see what happened to RedPower or EE2. The word you're looking for is "taken over".

OpenComputers is getting releases for 1.7.10, 1.8.9, 1.9.4 and 1.10.2 simultaneously, all the time. The same was true for 1.6.4, 1.7.2 and 1.7.10 when those versions were still in popular use.

Many mods (BuildCraft and TechReborn come to mind) are also getting bugfixes on 1.7.10 with the bleeding-edge features on newer versions.

Also, back in the day, immibis maintained his mods for 1.2.5, 1.3.2 and 1.4.2 simultaneously - back when people stuck to 1.2.5 solely for RedPower.

The poaching idea would work with player-killed mobs, I suppose. If it fucked up how mob grinders work (Fall grinders, Lava blades, etc.) then there'd be a problem with entity bodies littering the floor and no way to get rid of them for drops/exp other than just being present for it.

Yeah, it's more on the hush, but Searge creates a private file from Mojang's code to match names to obfuscated names, which he uses to construct MCP mappings.

I shipped a release version of BuildCraft once where the quarry did not work. At all. Like, you'd give power to it and it wouldn't budge. It was fixed in a few hours, but it ended up in FTB packs for two weeks anyway.

Either you are running out of essentia and letting the infusion continue, or your pedestals (and the items on them) are not balanced, creating additional instability.

Replace it with storage drawers, prof mobius is a retard. It loads slow, and causes more lag. Also rumors of save corruption. Storage drawers has the exact same functionality sans dolly and bspace barrels.
Either mousetweaks or inventorytweaks has a rather large memory leak when you hold down shift and are in an inventory, think it's mousetweaks so you're good there.

I'd get tinker's defense, it got an update recently.
You also don't have any inventory management mods, logistics pipes is the most fun, AE2 is microcrafty easymode, practical logistics is earlygame sort of easymode/opencomputers/computercraft for retards.

Replace RottenFleshToLeather with Apple&Milk&Tea2; The hotplate can turn rotten flesh to leather, and brings in a lot of other interesting things. Many of the potions you can make in AMT rival that of vanilla brewing, if not make them stronger.

Along with reinforcing what >>151311876 said; Replace JABBA with Storage Drawers for a storage solution, and a storage management mod will work quite well too. Practical Logitstics is a nice mod that can be used later on to manage power systems and such.

Speaking of power systems, your only power system is Immersive Engineering? I'd say to also add in something like Mekanism or EnderIO for alternatives to IE, but if that's what you want then by all means.

A near-complete change to the rendering system in 1.8 forced modders to effectively re-write their mods from 1.7.10, along with MCP/Forge taking almost a year to become stable enough for modders to get a go ahead.

Usually not, particles only load within like a 32 block radius of the client player. It should be about the same performance wise as mushroom islands, void and bedrock areas that spawn particles. It definitely doesn't help but you'll probably not notice the performance hit.

My problem with it is that it looks like it's supposed to be sand seeming out of cracks and so on, but it's using the same smoke cloud animation as most other things. They should had used a unique animation for it. But that's all based on just looking at that image.

I've played multiplayer maps with HarvestCraft and done almost nothing but set up a restaurant.

I think Buildcraft has an automatic crafting table. You could probably set up a bakery with that and Thaumcraft's golems, who can harvest the materials and move from one chest to another as the machinery processes it.


Not sure if they can milk cows, so cakes might be difficult, but pies and cookies should be a breeze, right?

There's a lot of mods I really want to keep playing with on 1.7.10, like secret rooms, minechem, galacticraft, etc. But there's also mods I want to play with that are on 1.10.

For the time being I put together a 1.10.2 trial server with ~40 mods. Gonna try it out for a few days with a friend or two and then decide whether to stick with it or not. Most likely we're going to start doing bees and then never get anything done ever.

Is there a modpack (in the Curse client, specifically) that revolves around the aesthetic of medieval life?

Tinkers Construct, with the tool crafting and smelting, is an example of the mod aesthetic I seek.

Would be awesome if there were actual quests (more so if procedurally generated, with no limit) rather than the "progression path" that most packs use that quest book mod for.

Would also be awesome if there were dungeons to raid, adventures to go on.

I'm not sure what they mean by dungeon loot but I do know I've never found a lot of the shit in vanilla dungeons that I've found in RL dungeons. LOTS of enchanted books and gear. Also a lot of materials and gear that would require hard work to get on your own.

Would probably recommend a clear inventory (beyond weapons and torches) or maybe backpacks if you're traversing one.

I remember a long time ago I was playing with others in the Twilight Forest, and we set up a whole base inside one of those castles. Someone even rigged a skeleton farm to trap them in holes where we could safely hack at their legs and take their bones and bows. We had a potions lab and an enchanting room... I miss those guys. I was actually looking at this part:

While he is often stubborn and doesn't pay enough attention to the GitHub issue and pull request trackers, he still does a lot of reasonable quality work - between maintaining MCP's decompilation suite, helping with the mappings and Forge itself. It's a sword with 7 damage (same as a diamond sword), always sets the target on fire, and has a chance (I decreased it) to spawn a cinder mob. Essentially a cancer mob that sprays a cone of fire igniting every mob in front of it within 10 blocks.

The difference is that 1.7.2 was terrible as well and never improved either, it was full of bugs from Mojang's side from day one. Forge skipped every single bug fix release while pushing modders to move to it, but only got their shit together once 1.7.10 came out and even then performance was still terrible because of that chunk bug, which got fixed by Fastcraft.

Lumium tips and Thaumium core is always a good option, Slimeleaf is the best due to having Jagged and a durability boost.

Check your pack to see what's the best. Bear in mind that Signalium is no longer max speed out the gate, and things like Slime and Plastic are not bad options. You want to maximize the bolt speed on the crossbow itself while hitting <1 second draw speed, along with maximizing damage while taking weight into account.

Draw speed is reload time, and weight affects how far the bolts go. Too heavy of a bolt means it'll go two blocks and fall straight down. Lighter bolts might be too crazy if the accuracy isn't high enough, let alone not do enough damage.

On the serb I'm on the best limb is Shiny, with 5.7 arrow speed. Steel's not far behind at 5.5, though overcoming the 3s draw speed is going to be tough.

Just look up the parts in NEI, and it should give you the modifiers and stats of all the parts before you make them. Alumite and Manullyn are solid choices if slime is not an option (Pink being the best) and Plastic is a fantastic option as well early on if you're using Iguana's.

At full upgrades, 3840 stacks for a single drawer. Full upgrade with a void upgrade, 3072 stacks. 1x2 drawers halve this number, 2x2 drawers quarter this number.

AE2 is good for storing large quantities of things that aren't stackable by 64, like Ender Pearls or Eggs. Or things that don't stack at all, since it stacks it for you in its system.

Because mod authors don't expect there to be an interface for an all-inclusive collection of storages.

Factorization did it first, with the Router and its Barrels. Storage Drawers just took everything about that system and cleaned it up. But again, mod authors are expecting you to have a basement of chests that extend to bedrock, not to have an easy-to-use interface that you can pipe in and out of.

Most people will use the drawers in conjunction with Applied Energistics to make a 12x12x12 cube of 2x2 drawers to store everything in until they can get a proper ME network running. Or you can use it with the EiO Inventory panel, Logistics Pipes, or ProjRed pipes.

It's honestly one of the most reliable autocrafting systems out there. The only issue is that it's been severely gregtech'd to require you to hunt meteors in the world for four plates JUST TO START. Not to mention that the inscribers are some of the most difficult to use things in all of modded (even with the AE2 Advanced Inscriber it's still a pain in the dick) and requires in-world "Drop a bunch of shit to craft" recipes as well.

Plus it's rather...static. You hook it all up and send out a crafting job and a few things light up here and there but there's no show for your work. Just a bland "Here's your item, it's safely stored in the disks until you want it" at the end. Compared to a Logistics Pipe system, where shit's flying through pipes to fulfill crafting requests and just looks incredibly comfy.

I probably abuse item conduits in a big way, but any areas I want to see materials, I just hook up item conduits to a Botania open crate and drop them onto an IE conveyer belt. Takes some extra fiddlin' to get it working right, but it looks cash as fuck.

I see Ender IO stuff more as a means to an end. They facilitate interesting design choices. There are a lot of situations where it's handy to have a conduit that can input and/or output items, power and fluids all in the space of 1 block and with the control of a redstone signal. It's all about what you do with it.
