I want to try to carry my sorry ass up to at at least rank 60 before the end of the season, but I get stressed out playing comp. Should I just stick to Lucio/Zen or try to DPS carry with Reaper/S76? I'm decent enough with those characters, at the very least.

So I have been playing a particular archer in competitive. I end most matches with most damage done and usually with most eliminations. I'm learning to get more and more headshots and how to time it.

I am kind of at my wits end with ranking up.

I tried incredibly hard with mccree and it just didn't work. I would get jumped on by 2-3 heroes once the enemy figured out I was a threat or my team will dance around in circles while the enemy pushes/clock runs out and i'm desperately pumping bullets into reinharts shield.

I was able to consistently get POTM and 3 gold medals as mccree even when losing the match.

I thought of trying to carry with Genji but it seems like I need some kind of initiation thats not me to go in on the squishies.

I really just wanna get better at the game but it feels like there's all these routes open to me and I don't know how many are traps and pitfalls.

What does /owg/ suggest I do?

This game would be objectively better if Roadhog didn't exist. He's a low skill cheese character that's not fun to fight. The only way to avoid hook+shotgun instakill is to stay more than 30m away from him, but then you can't contest the objective.

Roadhog's hook is so wonky.

I've literally watched it change trajectory in mid air in order to hit people.

It's so unsatisftying to die to as well. He doesn't even need to be aiming for you, can hit you and for many characters you just die if you get hooked.

It's bad game design to have an ability that can be thrown around and just pray it hits someone and yet if it does hit, it's a kill.

I really wish the hitbox matched the projectile, and I really wish Roadhog was punished in some way for missing it, so that I would see less of the "throw hook in the general direction of their team".

The first one was a glitch because of the ice wall and shit, he teleported

The second one, the one in the webm, is an obvious aimbot.

For one, I have literally never had a glitch occur in all my time of McCree where my aim suddenly snapped (Not even drifted to, just snapped) instantly to a target I could not see through a wall after I Dead Eye.

And two, the motion itself is so jerky. You cant even pass that off as a flick, because you see him pull away afterwards before reaper shows himself because he doesnt know what he's aiming at.

He looks at the wall with reaper behind it so quickly McCree's gun is still pointing at the Reinhardt and Lucio and doing the animation for dead eye shots

I play all the tanks and supports plus reaper and mei. Some Tracer here and there too. Calibrated low 50s. Lowest rank was 45. Climbed all the way to 70. Early on I spammed Pharah but she's in a pretty shit place now thanks to Zen and McCree.

The problem with defense heroes is they seem to be built around 1:1 exchanges (ie. good damage but low mobility compared to assault characters,)

The problem is that this isn't an even trade. Dying on defense is 10x worse than dying on offense because of the spawn distance.

The reason Roadhog's hook is so funky is because the hit calculation favors the hook hit on the Roadhog's client, but then the pull itself actually takes place starting at the position of the hookee's client, so that the hookee won't end up effectively "teleporting" to the location of where they were hooked on the Roadhog's client.

That's why you see those weird wall pulls, due to the hit being taken from the perspective of the Roadhog player, but the other player has already turned a corner on their screen. It seems to only get really bad if you're unlucky enough to hook someone with ~150 or more ping, but even 90 is noticeable.

Mccree survived the PTR for a long fucking while and people only noticed how op he was once it went live. Then he got nerfed a week or 2 after to what he is now

They'll definitely be doing another PTR testing soon and this time will probably be without a new hero that everyone is playing and hyping over, meaning people will focus on actual balance this time.

Dpi doesn't matter too much as long as you adjust sensitivity accordingly, but between 800 and 1200 dpi is the ballpark most people are in, so 1000 dpi is completely fine.

I just wish we could see peoples' stats, like every other online game. I want to point out that two or three of the assholes on my team, playing offensive characters, did less damage as me as Lucio. I want all 12 of us to know I'm not the asshole and that those three people are in fact the assholes.

Fuck this play nice bullshit coupled with a 1-100 "skill" ranking that's determined by how many times I've lost 4v6 matches. Stupid fucking bullshit. We should be able to see everyone's stats in game. Full stop.
