Theoretically and with no delays etc. The battles in the game don't take place like this so it's not entirely relevant. But if a Vape and a Jolt went at each other in a theoretical match both using 'attacker' rules the Vape would win.

The problem is that they based CP off of base stats from the games. When doing so they did not factor speed as being important (10 times less important than the other stats i think), so anything from the games that relies on speed/first move has had its CP fucked by this calculation. This applies to a lot of the electric types.

First of all in GO the types mean way fucking less. Instead of double damage we're talking +25% damage.

Which is nowhere near enough to compensate for the fact that the electric attacks are shit compared to the best water ones.

Vape's best anti-dodge attack is both harder to dodge and far superior damage to Jolteon's. Essentially all 3 charge moves for Jolteon are garbage for anything but attacking versus braindead AI defending pokemon.

Oh and 125% damage Thunder Shock is weaker than Water Gun still I believe. Unless the Database site isn't updated anymore. Been awhile since I gave a fuck about gyms.

Electric vs water isn't 200%, it's 125%. Not 100% sure if double weaknesses or double resistances do more or if they're 80%/125%.

Walker account level 21, found a 100% perfect arcanine with fire fang and flamethrower, but he's at only 222 cp. Should I really invest like 60k fucking stardust at it, or shelve it?

I assume a regular Growlithe can be found at 900ish cp, with 80% IV, and evolve it to reach the 1600ish CP. Then it's just 20-30k stardust to get it up from there.

The limit is based on its IV and your current account level. Don't power it up before evolving it though, since it rerolls moves randomly upon evolution. You don't want to get stuck with a mon with bad moves after investing a lot of stardust in it.

A Magikarp, for example, can only hit like 250 CP when you're at a super-high trainer level, but a Growlithe can easily reach over 1000 CP at trainer level 30. Let's say I'm around level 28, and I found two magikarp. One is CP 190 with 77.5% IVs. The other is CP 165 with 100% IVs. The first one is only a higher CP because it's effective been caught at a higher "power up" level. Checking the level, I can note it would take 45k stardust to catch up the lower CP magikarp in terms of level. This sounds like a lot, but it's a one time cost. Max them both out at 28 and it's around a 100 CP difference as a gyarados.

Personal preference if it's worth it.

It's not a one-time cost, because it's a policy. Will you spend 40k stardust on every low cp 97-100% IV you catch? Of every pokemon that's part of the meta anyway? At level 20 you should accumulate about 100,000 stardust so this isn't trivial at all. And what would you have to show for it? There won't be a single gym battle your 100% IV mon would win that a 75% IV wouldn't, and they'll both lose to the same pokemon challangers.

It's only really relevant if one day we'll have our street duels, and even then what would it grant you? Is it worth 40k stardust per mon? And assuming you reach account level 40 the stardust will climb to the hundreds of thousands per mon.

I'm on Instinct too but I get sad when some fuckhead teammate puts down a 1500 CP Clefable on the front lines and make it impossible for my weaker mons to level up the gym faster than +100 prestige a pop.

I have a combination of high level Pokemon that I use to deposit into a Gym and then beat them up with a slightly weaker Pokemon that can beat them and level up the gym a bit before moving onto the next one so the next poor guy could have room for his guy.

It's great when assholes don't help make space in gyms and then complain they lose gyms too quickly.
