I spent that 15 bucks on a pizza, it was pretty good. And in a week when I lose interest in the game again I'll not have to feel guilty for wasting money, just as with the ~10 or so other mediocre games by shitty devs that I have pirated and never bought. It's pretty nice.

Comparatively, the energy one gives you a larger difference in energy than the bonus the other sets give in their stats, while the damage armor gives you very little gain.

You have a base 100 health, 100 energy, and 100% attack, and all the sets will at least give you the stats of the mysterious set (an additional 300% attack and 60% energy/HP). Manipulator armor gives you another 5th of that 300% bonus. Separator armor gives you double the health bonus you normally get. Accelerator gives you 2.5 times more or an energy bonus than other sets do. Of course, you don't always need energy, but if at least half your armor is giving you additional energy you'll have over 200, which lets you use stuff like Asuterosaberu's ability without busting your bar.

You can compare them all to the perfect set, which gives another 6th of the default tier 6 bonus to each stat. The manipulator armor barely offers any more damage, wheras the accelerator and separator sets will have significantly more energy/health.

1k hours in terraria, 133 in starbound since release, could only put 8 hours into crea. Aside from putting abilities that unlock via a neat system its a completely shallow terraria clone. It's got challenge dungeons that you can find randomly like starbound but they're combat focused instead of platforming. Tenants and NPCs are "made" by finding a costume that the player cannot use and putting them on a mannequin which causes it to come to life, they don't move around and stay exactly where they are. Bosses shit damage and projectiles everywhere and generally could only be fought by spamming healing while poking them. I wouldn't recommend it but I haven't played in a while so hopefully a lot of this has been changed.

No, you can. Need to craft the pet station (final tier of inventor's table unlocks it) and use that to unlock pet tethers, you can put anything you want in those even big monsters like giant birds and adult poptops.

Thinking about it, why can't we chose to start with different race-specific ships, allowing access to the universe without having to go through the main storyline bullshit?

There's at least a cultural divide between each race, with the loyal and rebellious Apexs, cultist and pirate Avians, traditional and 'falty' Glitches, murderous and less murderous Floran. I feel like this would help spice things up, and makes starting anew easier.

As for those who want to bother with the story or needing a tutorial, make it so that there's this singular Protectorate ship selectable by all races, so that more content doesn't go to waste. As for the Matter Manipulator, just have a less impressive one given to those who didn't pick the Protectorate ship.

Alright guys, Tier 3 is finished.
Since we are in the "next" tier of weapons (new crafting station) each race gets an additional weapon type. This time we have:
Apex - MP, AR, Sniper
Avian - MP, Pistol, AR
Floran - MP, GL, AR
Glitch - Sniper, GL, Shotgun
Human - MP, AR, Shotgun
Hylotl - Pistol, MP, Sniper
Novakid - Pistol, Shotgun, Sniper


HALFWAY DONE WITH RACIAL RANGED WEAPONS GRAPHICS and then I only need to do recipes, stats, balancing, bug-testing, graphical fixes, etc.
By the time I'm done with this I'm going to blow my brains out and/or never play Starbound again.

Would it technically be possible to mod in a fourth/fifth equipment slot? Beside the standart head, top, bottom and back slot to have an extra slot that could be used for a second vanity slot so we could, for example, combine the ww1 helmet and glasses, or the executioner gloves and a chestplate top?

I don't mean to sound presumptuous or anything, I just feel that alien weaponry should look, well, alien, in addition to fitting the aesthetic of the species. Hylotl guns would look more exotic, for example. Apex in retrospect have good primitive weapons as they are, since that'd presumably be rebel mook tier. Humans also actually. Its mostly the human-ness of the Hylotl rifles that I find jarring actually. You made a good point about the crafting table thing. If it'll assuage your concerns, here's a sneak peek at T4 for humans I've had done for a bit. And yes those are pretty much just Halo guns I've tweaked with. Tier 4+ is going to be more sci-fi future-y type guns. If you have any suggestions on how to make Hylotl guns less human I'm all ears.

Believe it or not this is a rare quality among modders, especially on the nexus, who routinely ban criticism and delete their mods when people hurt their feelings. Its good to know there are people who don't behave like that in the modding community.

As for Hylotl weaponry, I'd advise making it more uh... I feel curved is a good word. Elegant? Something like that. Like it actually should be more beautiful than functional. I know the saying "the army with the shiniest uniforms loses", but hey, that applies to the Hylotl fairly well.

Low-level weapons are all archaic horseshit regardless of race. On top of that, with four of the seven races it just makes sense for them to have old-fashioned guns. Apex have to take what they can get since they're most likely rebels (as a player character), though the higher tiers being miniknog tech weapons would be neato; Florans just salvage old shit from other races; Glitch are a medieval society; Novakid are old west themed and because they have no culture or family structure or history books each one reinvents everything from scratch, so they're pretty primitive despite being extremely intelligent.

There's a fair case for humans having old shit even at high tiers too, since most of them are trailer trash, and though the pc is protectorate they're a novice and have to work with what they scavenge.

Plus it's space opera so there's a big impetus on romantic scenarios. Using a 400 year old AK that looks rather impractical by modern starfaring standards that has been carefully taken care of would be like a modernday character using a musket or blunderbuss from the 1600s, in other words pretty cool.

I also agree that in the case of hylotl they should look suited for aquatic combat. I don't think ballistic guns are good at all, they should be something that would function underwater. Tiny amounts of liquid dripping into large bodies of a different liquid convert to the large one. So I make a big chamber, put 500 fuel in it, and then set up two windy channels to slowly pour infinite sea water into the chamber. The drops coming out of the channel are to large, so they hit the center of a platform and split into invisible drops. The erchius level rises slowly without any visible water. I had to tweak the number of platforms a few times to get it perfect, too slow and it doesn't work, too fast and water will form squares and not convert.
Plus some wiring to stop flow and sound alarms if I drain too much fuel. Could be condensed, but would be slower.

It's not hard, seriously: biggish room with some fuel, trickle of ocean coming in. Split the trickle until the fuel level starts rising. Wiring only required for automatic shutoff in case of overflow, and that's a liquid sensor, not switch, and a door or two. You could also just use drains and say fuck excess generation.

They can take a fair amount of abuse depending on your current armor. It's not a problem though, if they die they respawn on your ship.

It's kinda retarded how many things are scaled with your armor in this game, to be honest, your HP, energy, and attack power ALL scale in a gradual, static manner as you get better and better armor, and it isn't until you hit the final three armor types that you can specialize.

That was one of my complaints when I was playing in 2014. At least with Vanilla, it just seems like "Search planet --> Mine required ores --> Build better equipment --> Do mission --> Repeat" until you actually have enough materials to do the fun stuff like building and creating. The Hylotl mission went pretty fast for me. I found a huge Hylotl seabase at the bottom of the first ocean planet I went to and two of the scannable objects there were the big/unique scans. There's a mod on the Steam workshop that changes the dash back to how it was in Koala (I think it was Koala, maybe another version) and you can basically infinite dash, and it really helps in exploring planets for villages and stuff, if you don't consider that cheating.

The platforms don't affect the flow, it's for maintenance only. The blocks just split the barely visible droplets in half for invisible droplets. It's also a surface area thing I think. If the four end-result streams were closer together, I think they'd take longer to merge with the erchius fluid, since they would spread across the surface and find more water.

You have to look for ocean planets where the description talks about a lot of activity under the surface. That's where you get the neo-tokyo bioshock cities.

Surface villages are all ancient japanese types, with the occasionally more modern store. But I've always had a hard time finding those.
