The voting system is just one of the things that make it terrible. It's a big factor though because it actively encourages circlejerking. You get virtual points for saying something that the userbase agrees with, and get downvotes for saying anything controversial. So people just say what the circlejerk wants to hear, and if you say something against that you get downvoted so much that your post (and thread) gets hidden.

Another big problem is how a small group can police a whole subreddit without any opposition just because they happened to make that subreddit first.
The Mass Effect subreddit has mods who also mod subreddits like GirlGamers, in other words blatant SJWs. That mod appoints other mods with the same viewpoints etc. And its no use to start another ME subreddit because everyone is already on the first one.
The result is that these subreddits become SJW hugboxes and circlejerks with barely any discussion and where people just say what the community wants you to say, because otherwise your posts will be hidden or outright deleted.

Yeah, sure. Biotics is the possible result of in-utero exposure to dust-form element zero, and all character backgrounds allow for that.
Shepard's mother was one of the people affected by the second accident, but that could've happened any where.
Could've been another accident on Earth, could've been an accident on Mindoir, or a mass effect core leak on a spaceship/station.

Really? I thought ME3 had her fairly well-rounded rather than moe-blobby, displaying a lot of personality besides just being "cute" like, say, ME1 Liara. Her behavior in her ME3 romance scenes are also much closer to her usual personality, as opposed to the insecure stutterer she was in ME2 (which had in-universe reasons behind it, but still).

I mean yeah, some of the Citadel stuff was cringe-worthy, but that's not exclusive to her.

Anyone else a bit bummed that ME is basically done for and will be forgotten, with the best hope we have being a game that's set in a different galaxy with entirely different locations and characters, at a time where everyone from the original trilogy has been dead for centuries?

I think when you are in the patreon programme, backers get infos about other people they can back. if you aren't in it, potential backers that already pay don't see you.
