You wouldn't have to use the grenade on that fresh Thatcher + Thermite hole because, oh shit, they don't Barb Wire that fucking shit.

The thatcher and thermite combo also means that you are giving the defenders less time to respond and zero in on your position. While your team effort strategy works, it takes time, splits the team, and gives information to the enemy instead of a hole just being immediately blown open.

It's still done on some maps because those two are the only ones who get through it easier. If they didn't bring one (or you kill one before they get the breach), god forbid, they are fucked by being slowed way down.

I didn't avoid the question. I answered it. It's been a COMMON COMPLAINT in this General that Ubisoft appeals to the esports crowd and the new roaming meta is because of that. They tend to pick characters with better weapons that are able to be used INDEPENDENTLY, since Thatchers solo killing ability is not up to snuff. By comparison, Ash is a rape machine that just steamrolls everybody in her patch.

Thatcher is picked regularly by nromies and he shows up when he's needed. There are spots where he is good, and unlike Monty, he is useful in more than one situation in the entire game.

He does benefit the team on some margin if he is picked, unlike ops like Castle or Monty who can be literally useless sometimes. He's not a good pick most of the time, but the only time he is a BAD pick is if there is no thermite.

Favela's design is so retarded. Defending that 3rd floor packaging room is the new worst area in the game to defend, period. Don't even bother with Bandit or Mute since that window and door is right fucking there and they'll just lob grenades in, shoot the jammers/batteries/ADS (bonus points if it was Niggerbeard), then Thermite is free to rape the wall, gee fucking gee. they don't even need Thatcher to do all this either, but bringing him into the mix just makes it that much more of a total slaughter. Fuck, you don't even need Thermite, a good team can do it with the objective room window, the door, and the stairwell window.

A combination of mid-high damage and an insane RPM means you don't even have to go for headshots half the time, enemies will drop like nobodies business. Would it be OP if Castle's barricades couldnt be melee'd?

It seems like thats the best way to make him better, imo. Would it realy be too imbalanced? I know itd make smokes/flashes less prevalent in pubs cause people would choose breaches instead unless coordinating with the other randoms. Everything except reinforced walls and muted/bandit walls I guess. You need teamwork or a certain loadout to get through them. And Castle's whole schtick is expanding on that defense.

I think a bandit + mute + castle defense should be like the ultimate defense where only teamwork or certain skills can overcome it. Is it really so bad to lose a round cause your whole team is dead and you are left with an operator that isnt meant for the situation? It seems fitting to lose cause your team done fucked up.

Even with this proposed buff you can still Ash, Sledge, Breach (most people have), grenade, Glaz (either the barricade itself or shoot the jammer), or simply circumvent it through a breachable wall or panel.

If youre whole team is dead and none of the objectives are breached yet and all you have is montagne, well shit. It think you need to lose cause your team done fucked up.

As far as I can remember they changed the lighting around for the sake of balancing. In the trailer you could see the helicopter shining a light onto the roof and around the house, it'd be a bit unfair if a player was blinded by that outside the house and got picked off by someone peaking from inside. Aside from that, most of the demo was CG anyway, especially the drone sections. Darker lighting in general and better particles would be nice though.
