Hey guys, im a new layer, and i've had a lot of fun walking around with friends, or catching pokemon to and from work.

I even got together with friends just to walk around and look for pokemon and such, but...

Im a bit confused. Everyone online says that Pidgeys are SUPER common, but we only have like 5 amongst all of us. We are up to our eyebrowns in ekans and zubats, though, but those ask for 50 candies to evolve, so even then, I only have 34 pokemon ready to evolve atm.

I read the FAQ, but still have a few questions.

I just broke level 12, is 34 evolutions enough to justify using a lucky egg?

Any news on when trading will be available? I really wanna try trading with friends living in other countries. Hopefully trade will be more than just with the person in front of you. I mean, it was a big deal with it was finally possuble to trade pokemon worldwide on the handheld, it would feel weird to take a step back in that sense.

I've walked all over my city and all I get are mankey, zubat, ekans, meowth and growlithe as commons. Machop, geodude and onix as uncommon, with weedle, kabutops and koffing as rares.

I also caught 1 each of the starters (squirtle, charmander and bulbasaur) but this was after several days walking, to the point I got calluses on my feet, the calluses popped, then I got new ones.

I hatched seven 10km eggs, three 5 km eggs, and about eleven+ 2km eggs, that should make clear how much i've been walking.

How the fuck do I get eve? I got one out of an egg, same for scyther.

I live in Arica (city), Chile (country) and I sort of get why we are up to our eyebrowns in zubat -yes we do have bats here-, as well as growlithe and meowth, but why the hell are we flooded by ekans?

I mean, if they got through the trouble of looking up points of interests to use as pokestops, they might as well have picked up a book, or checked online, to see what fauna is on X region, right? feels rather important...

I did some testing with the new Sighting (Nearby Replacement) and found some things out with it.
It scans the area around you roughly every ~15 ~10 seconds (EDIT: Did more testing this is closer to 10 seconds)
Any new pokemon that spawn on this scan will be added to the sightings list.
If a pokemon despawns it will be removed from the sightings list.
If you move too far away from a pokemon it will be removed from the sightings list.
Any pokemon that you move within 700 ft (200 m) of on this scan will be added to the sightings list. (EDIT IN: this was already known but I figured I would make sure it was added in as the counterpart to 4.)
On number 4 I found this distance to be around ~700 feet (~200 meters) (which is what I believe the 3 step max use to be).
EDIT: I havn't tried the first pokemon being the closest thing to you yet. /u/Hellothere1990 states it possibly does so there is that. I will try to confirm when I get walking around the park tonight.

Can confirm this, updates perfectly and you can narrow down search ALOT better now. Just found a hitmonchan after 5-6mins of narrowing down the search. Seems to be good at keeping the closest ones at the start of the list also after further testing. Great update.
Looks like the first promising stage of bringing back the tracker
Update: Using other pokemon you find in the list as a distance/reference for finding the one you want works very well.
Update 2 lured pokemon dont show on the sighting list and also It seem some/all multiples of the same pokemon do not show. [i.e. 3 weedles close wont show 3 different sightings] Very busy areas of natural spawns i find are confusing to navigate from due to this. Things to keep in mind.

Its now fun to find pokemon again :)

Certin moves did more or less damage in the real game based on some stats. Like bodyslam did more damage the heavier you were.
On the other hand they didn't impliment other stats like speed and special atk/def.
Shit would be crazy if they did. Of course if they're not competent enough to fix a simple distance algorithm odds are they wouldn't add those things in.
