I'm part of the Ibuki hate force. Ibuki is very good at what it excels in, namely, setting battleships on fire at max range while staying invisible. The problem with that is that I find it incredibly mindnumbingly dull. Complaints about Ibuki are essentially complaints about high-tier cruiser gameplay.

Yeah, I can understand that, maybe it's because I was coming off playing nothing but the other end of the flamethrower having just completed grinding out my second BB line and playing a bunch of Hotel and getting to experience how muh fun it is to be set on fire all game, and I've really been enjoying high teir CA gameplay with recently getting the Hind after havin the Zao for a little bit, but I can understand why it certainly doesn't appeal to everyone. The shells are slow for the ranges it's firing at, and aside from the upgrade module that increases your range, it really does feel like playing an uptiered 203 Mogami.

Part of Ibuki's problem is that a lot of people ground it out early when they had just come off of un-nerfed 155 Mogami. And 155 Mogami with AFT had ranges similar to Ibuki with the range upgrade, so if you had CE and camo on your Mogami captain, you could be the invisifiring cancer as well as you could on Ibuki. All the while, you have the adaptability of the rapid-firing, high-velocity, accurate 155mm guns. Not only were you the cancer at long range, you were DDs' worst nightmare at close range. Ibuki was flat-out a letdown when you got to her. It felt like playing the inferior Mogami configuration but one tier higher.

Actually yeah, I'd forgotten that some people would be comparing it to the original mogami, whereas I came off the post-nerf mogami which I absolutely hated, and to this day is probably my least favorite ship in the game, even compared to something like the kawachi.
The gun performance always seemed pretty damn good to me, I never found it hard to land shells at max range and the whole thing felt like the mogami should have been, with range that wasn't painfully bad. Probably the only ship I regret selling to move on to the next tier, but I could barely afford the Zao even after selling my ibuki so rip in peace.

Scharnhorst NDA has been lifted. Can confirm that the ship is god tier.

20 second reload, faster turning turrets than most cruisers get, has torpedoes, super fast shell velocity, strong armor (thicker belt than tirpitz), great mobility, good AA, and good maneuverability

The ship is amazing against cruisers and destroyers, it only has problems against battleships because of the smaller 283mm guns. But it can still pen them if they go broadside - only angled battleships are hard to damage. But don't expect many citadels, as it can't quite pen that deep.

The Roon and Hindenburg spawned from the design documents of triple 203mm turrets. the design documents for ships that would use these turrets were destroyed, but there were orders for them, and they would of looked similar to the Hipper. WG then built 3x3 and 4x3 ships that used these turrets and based most of the rest of the ship on the Hipper.
