People also forget to mention that the only reason there are bots is cause there's enough legit non-botting players in the game that will buy the resources that these bots or collecting. For example, green drag bots that you can find on every world, they're the reason dbone prices are low. Could you imagine what the price of dbones/hides would be if there were no bots?

From the point of view of abusing it for +1s there was a counter of having your team mates attack you and killing you before your prayer drops.

There were counters, the people who actually had to deal with the mechanic at large were aware with it. Funny how the ones who are so vocal about how terrible it is aren't aware of it. I figure they don't even go to the wildy as they might lose items.

It is your leader's (if you're in a pvp encounter without a leader there is no helping you) job to counter in the case of old spear spec. You may die but if your team uses spears more efficiently you have a better chance of victory due to having higher dps. You achieve this by catching people in mage robes and teaching your subordinates to not waste specs on someone who is not always dead. In multicombat the bigger picture is a team defeating another, not one persons survival. By not being in bad position and allowing players to be in melee range of you you reduce the dspear spec's killing potential slowing the other teams dps giving your team an advantage. You probably wouldn't understand this concept, it requires accepting the fact that you will die. (deaths are more common in multicombat)

In general you shouldn't think about "oh no I can't not die!!!!!" you should think about how your death takes part in the bigger picture of the battle.
