i'm beginning to wonder if soloing this is really worth it

So I've just started playing Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate via loadline on my Wii U. I played for 1 hour and then went to save. The message that the game is currently saving was only visible for half a second which was quite surprising to me. Now one hour later I opened the game up again but there was no saved game. After this I tried to create and save a game two more times, saving with the bed and menu but nothing works and everytime I boot the game up there is no save.
Google gives me no results on this so maybe someone here might know a solution.

Are guild quest monsters stronger/harder than village quest monsters? I'm a solo only hunter and I've cleared every village quest I can and I want to start on clearing all the guild quests to unlock more offline content. My assumption would be that the guild quests are balanced for multiple hunters, right?

It takes me 10-15 minutes to kill easy 2* monsters right now because I'm still fucking around with completely un-upgraded weapons or level 2 max.

If by appropriate you mean upgraded, monster-weakness or high raw weapons, with armor skills and everything, it really shouldn't take you over 10 minutes for anything.
