Oh, it is fair. All the clues are there. No unreliable narrators or cheap tricks. Sometimes the MC will comment on things that are unusual, leaving to you the task of determining if those are valid leads or not. You have an excelent journal tool and there is a sort of "hit corner".

You can also get fall to a bunch of red herrings and, miss crucial clues forever if you are not careful. There are lots of liars too.

The devs are also blinded by the knowledge of where everything is, how it all ties together, and what the outcome of everything will be. It makes it incredibly easy to overlook the fact that they made it damn near impossible for everyone else to solve.
Mysteries need a very strong logical progression. The dev/writer not only needs to place themselves in their own character's shoes, but also the player. Bringing in friends and acquaintances they know aren't stupid to playtest whether their game has that flow is also a good idea.

I'm planning on putting own live2d-for-vns invention thing on the Unity Asset store though eventually.

also I trained the animators personally lol, I've trained like five people already because NOBODY FUCKING KNOWS HOW TO USE THIS SHIT unfortunately, so I "made" the animators myself. You'll need both riggers (to make the rig) and animators, but good luck finding a rigger that has:

1: The full version of Live2D so that you can have more than 2 parameters - good luck doing full geometry with just the first version
2: Good spatial understanding and experience so you don't get ass poop.

currently the only english-person I know who can rig properly is myself. I can animate too but there is a girl on my team who is THE FLIPPING BOMB when it comes to animating and blows me out of the water so I just kinda leave that to her lol.

If you are making a "survival game" like Rust/DayZ/ark, then yeah, you are competing with other games, because these are the kinds of games that players sink HUNDREDS of hours into, and they probably only have time for one of those games in their life at one time. Ditto for genres like MMO and MOBA.

But an VN that lasts for 5 hours? Do you think people are going to play your "rival's" game and go, "whelp, I'm done playing my 5-hours of yuri games this year, guess I'm not going to buy this other yuri game that's scheduled to come out in a month."
