Im a different anon, but Im sort of in the same boat. Turn 30 this year, and havent really been able to start my "career" yet. I went to school for shit, but Ive been stuck working in my fathers shitty business that I hate since forever because they need me, and we cant find anyone to replace me.

Ill be a 30 year old fucking man walking into an industry as a newbie, and it sucks dick because a 22 year old dipshit whos been in the field already for a year has more experience than me.

The only upside is that employers Ive talked with seem to give me more respect that some dumbfuck 22 year old, and even talk about how I feel about managerial positions and being in charge of teams since Ive got more life experience, and have spent alot of time training new employees in our own family business.

Both of you can eat dicks. I just got laid off from my part time minimum wage job because we ran out of business. I'm 19. My co-workers were 17, 36, 52 and 18. Two of them had degrees, and one of them was the owner.

I can build computers, but every place I've gone to only has like one guy working and he's working less than 30 hours.
>>
>>150813914

Part time job workers are always the first people to go when times are tough for a business.
>>
>>150814051
I was working 20 hours and getting more than half the staff. The only people left are the book keeper and the owner.

Not really troll logic but sort of: with burner drills mining coal, make them face each other so that they fill each other up for lower-maintenance coal collection (will only stop once both have 50 in them). Chain together squares (2x2, 4x4 with a 2x2 empty space, etc.) for more coal.

Here is not so good, but the obj 416 idea is not that bat, literally a gunbed with turrets ala robocuck.
This are transport platforms, you can make it way more flat.

judging by the science icons you're on 0.12, you should opt in to the new beta

if you want everything to keep up with each other you need to find the ratios of production

easiest example: 1 red science needs 5 seconds to be done and needs 1 iron wheel, 1 iron wheel takes 0.5 seconds and needs 2 plates
start some head math and you realize how much you need and how much you can build

though at some point later on something always messes up and slows down the entire chain before or after it

I wonder if these mechanisms in algodoo could be designed in such a way that you could use the layers as a diagram to build a mechanical computer from the design? As long as you ran it from a constant input I think it could be possible.

I've always like the idea of using videogames to design circuitry and then attempting to build it using discreet components. I still havent found any complete microcomputer builds other then the Dwarfputer the abstracted logic gates using water pressure plates and mechanical driveshafts to build them. It had enough memory to run a small program using 4-bit opcodes.

I wish Fallout 4 was more stable because it's the only recent game I can think of where you'd be able to actually put the circuits together effectively. A good 8-bit computer system could be build in a decent sized three story building, a 4-bit computer in an even smaller one. With some creativity it would be entirely possible to write software to control the settlement's powered systems, or say a factory using memory mapped inputs.

But no, Fallout 4 a shit and it'd never work in practice. I'd damn well like to see someone try it though.

As Time and Space come bending back to shape this star-specked scene,
The tranquil tears of tragic joy still spread their silver sheen;
Along the Grand Canal still soar the fragile Towers of Truth;
Their fairy grace defends this place of Beauty, calm and couth.
Bone-tired the race that raised the Towers, forgotten are their lores;
Long gone the gods who shed the tears that lap these crystal shores.
Slow beats the time-worn heart of Mars beneath this icy sky;
The thin air whispers voicelessly that all who live must die-
Yet still the lacy Spires of Truth sing Beauty's madrigal
And she herself will ever dwell along the Grand Canal!

Let the sweet fresh breezes heal me
As they rove around the girth
Of our lovely mother planet,
Of the cool, green hills of Earth,

We've tried each spinning space mote
And reckoned its true worth:
Take us back again to the homes of men
On the cool, green hills of Earth.

The arching sky is calling
Spacemen back to their trade.
All hands! Stand by! Free falling!
And the lights below us fade.

Out ride the sons of Terra,
Far drives the thundering jet,
Up leaps the race of Earthmen
Out, far, and onward yet —

We pray for one last landing
On the globe that gave us birth;
Let us rest our eyes on the fleecy skies
And the cool, green hills of Earth.

Where dyads tread the fairy fields of Venn,
Their indices bedecked from one to n
Commingled in an endless Markov chain!
Come, every frustrum longs to be a cone
And every vector dreams of matrices.
Hark to the gentle gradient of the breeze:
It whispers of a more ergodic zone.
In Riemann, Hilbert or in Banach space
Let superscripts and subscripts go their ways.
Our asymptotes no longer out of phase,
We shall encounter, counting, face to face.
I'll grant thee random access to my heart,
Thou'lt tell me all the constants of thy love;
And so we two shall all love's lemmas prove,
And in our bound partition never part.
For what did Cauchy know, or Christoffel,

Wielding their compasses, their pens and rulers,
Of thy supernal sinusoidal spell?
Cancel me not - for what then shall remain?
Abscissas some mantissas, modules, modes,
A root or two, a torus and a node:
The inverse of my verse, a null domain.
Ellipse of bliss, converge, O lips divine!

Cyberiad draws nigh, and the skew mind
Cuts capers like a happy haversine.

Not him, but before the spergs start raging, the mechanics once enabled a very specific pattern of armor spacing that resembled a triforce. The name refers to that one specific armor pattern. The mechanics were changed repeatedly, resulting in different techniques culminating in modern spaced armor, which is far simpler than older armor types and less effective.

So I'm making a factorio mod. I had a big graph but lost it in a reformat.

Basics:

3 tiers of each ore, one new ore that's a split mix of both T2 ores

Each ore can be smelted plainly or refined to give more output. Each mining process and refining process has new materials.

Each ore's refined materials have alternate uses.
Example: Refined Iron
- Can be smelted into 5 plates
- Can be used to batch-smelt steel (at a rate of 6 refined iron and some coal to 5 steel, )
- Can be used to make T2 steel.

I've done the math on efficiency stuff, both for Energy/Time and Resources Used. T2 recipes try to maintain 16.67% efficiency, T3 recipes try to maintain 30% efficiency over their T1 equivalents.

Right now the only problem I'm having is coming up with uses for alternate products other than just batch production. Is that really enough to constitute a useful mod? I don't want to drop things like T2 steel out but ever since I've started it seems like I'm straight the fuck out of ideas.

Damage still only propagates to blocks that are connected to the one that was damaged.
Rails can deal damage to blocks deeper in, but that's pretty much the only exception.

The only thing that was really removed that nerfed spaced armor, or how robonerds call it, "triforcing", was that damage doesn't get lost on dead ends anymore. Previously, damage would travel along a row of blocks, find no more blocks and just stop destroying shit. Now it searches on the other connection points.

It's still very worthwhile to separate armor layers and especially your juicy insides from your armor. Just don't overdo it, or else a few well placed shots could make huge chunks of your armor fall off.
>>
>>150893401
you sound scared.
>>
>>150893401
Technically it doesn't need anything new. Didn't stop me from adding two new enemies that fly.

New ores add more to the game, but considering my ores only add a few new items in comparison I'm not making the game any more complicated - you can actually play through the game with my mod enabled and never HAVE to use it. It's just more efficient.

I just hate Busfags.
>>
>>150893598
I think in the most recent update they completely removed the "anti-gunbrella" effect in favour of a more traditional area of effect damage model. That was just a few days ago
>>
>>150893985
You know what's going to happen if this keeps up.
>>
>>150894229
anti-gunbrella has literally nothing to do with spaced armor, even though retards keep thinking it does.

it actually means spaced armor becomes BETTER, because damage can no longer travel on without fully destroying a block.
So you no longer need to protect deep mounting points heavily, since all damage will go to the mounted component first anyways.

PC can't handle space elevator.
About 20km off the ground it crashes if I try to paste, it crashes if I try to demolish it, it is painfully slow to send up the crawler.
Also, small gears even with unlimited speed mod can't handle more than 30rpm, they start jumping at 40.
Also, if I look at it I get like 7fps.
Rip spesselevator, ded before being completed.

How do people even cheaply drop things.
Actual dropping doesn't work (let alone the fact that parachutes don't work now) because it's too wasteful for hydrogen.
Space elevators don't work.
Ferrying things down is worse than dropping them.

Maybe I'll give another go at dropping, now I can make real parachutes

It actually brought me up for 18km with minimal clanging (three gears broke, spinning at 30rpm and 2.5MNm, no damage to anything just had to replace them, probably they just broke the pillar support), carrying 1M kg of ores at 1.1G and about 200k kg of the climber itself. Except for the fact that the fucking rails are landing gears and sometimes when you add blocks they LOCK and when you place them they are default on autolock

Wheels are just fucked, they fuck up all the shaft so they're useless unless you're using an ultralight climber or if you only use them as bearing and thrust with thrusters (both worthless for my needs)
>>
>>150898373
wheels alone or with suspension?
>>
>>150898495
Suspension wheels, wheels alone don't have grip.
They literally eat through heavy armor while looking for grip, and setting the strength/offset of the spring is a thin balance between "lmao we're not holding it steady you faggot the weight" and "WAAAAGH CRUSH THIS METAL PENIS NOWW".
Then there's the whole fact that after you get grip, they're underpowered and jumpy and clang.

Well, there are not many options to go upwards.
You want to avoid thruster cages?
Because using suspension as spacers in the corners withs its own rails and some thrust power should do the trick, even have mid-way stations to charge hydrogen if you decide to use that one.

Mechanical drive would be quite hard because how fucked up is the game, not because its actually that hard.

Mech legs are now the absolute best movement type in the game now. Literally no reason to use anything else now that you can get mech legs to fly, and do bunny hops at 200mph.

They are unbalanced as fuck, and freejams actually adding ANOTHER leg to the game as well soon. "Sprinter Legs". But why add those when the legs now are already OP as fuck, and can go fast?

Default gears are pretty trash, use these ones instead.

http://www.algodoo.com/algobox/details.php?id=114110
uses multiple geoms, more CPU expensive but more reliable and can run at higher speeds.

http://www.algodoo.com/algobox/details.php?id=89328
Single geom, but much much much better meshing

Also contact between gears seems to be more reliable if you up the density, so try that out.

You need to build houses, bah, entire cities for those crackers, provide them with food, water, consumption goods as clothes or kitchen appliances, but in return you get thousands and thousands of faggots ready to swarm around your base, repairing shit, hauling goods and forming panzer brigades ready to purge xenos
basically logibots, but funnier

That would be bretty cool, also then using nitrogen and hydrogen from furrymod you could have the Haber process to eventually make nitrate fertiliser, maybe aquaponics to farm fish as well. I know I'm cherry-picking a bit, but plants are still way better than us at making molecules with highly complex structures, so it's not too much of a stretch that it would be easier to obtain certain compounds from plants or fermentation cultures, rather than oil feedstocks.

Could be something like that Homeworld mod, you send food and resources to the home planet, in exchange you get credits you expend on things they send for you.

You can ask for new seeds that aren't available on the current planet, buy technologies not yet researched by you, ask for new colonists that will follow your orders, but they have demands, such as food and housing. Instead of doing all the automation with machines, inserters, automated trains and robots you now have to set colonists to do certain jobs, drive trains and trucks, construct, craft, pick up things, repair, fight.

Can also tame tame certain aliens or buy cows and animals from your home planet.

Unless all of its thrusters started firing simultaneously as a result of the damage, why would they think it's a good idea to do that? It doesn't make sense, the ship would just maybe tumble and keep going in a "straight" line, not decelerate.

The thing I hate of turret is their fucking shit targeting. I swear to fucking god the fucking laser turrets were targeting the fucking parts inside the ship instead of targeting the turrets outside.
"Autopilot, radar, military system" mod fixes this, but every patch breaks it, and it doesn't work with the plasma turrets due to their ammo thing I think, and more than once they just shot off one of my engines instead of correctly targeting.

Fuck turrets, dumb weapons are the best.

Five individual logic cells were functionally disconnected from the rest— with no pathways that would allow them to influence the output— yet when the researcher disabled any one of them the chip lost its ability to discriminate the tones. >Dr. Thompson peered inside his perfect offspring to gain insight into its methods, but what he found inside was baffling. The plucky chip was utilizing only thirty-seven of its one hundred logic gates, and most of them were arranged in a curious collection of feedback loops. Five individual logic cells were functionally disconnected from the rest— with no pathways that would allow them to influence the output— yet when the researcher disabled any one of them the chip lost its ability to discriminate the tones. Furthermore, the final program did not work reliably when it was loaded onto other FPGAs of the same type.

Guy you are replying to here.
As far as I know (old knowledge admittedly), the 'best' and most widely used svn client is Tortoise SVN, a 'designed by programmers' program (think linux wanker ux quality) that invades your explorer rclick context menu and adds like 4-5 buttons you will never need ever except for when you are pressing 2 buttons to update a single gmod mod. The clutter on my rclick menu for every task I do on my computer is not worth it to keep just one mod updated via their snowflake method.

>>151022657
Tell me, what is the current not-awful SVN client to use, or other method of keeping ACF updated from the github instead of just shitposting. My knowledge is years of out date, and surely there is something new that people are using now.

Simple exoskeletons are more likely to emerge first.

Okay, first off: don't mix belts, it'll end up bad. I used to do the same thing and had to purge my belts because they kept getting backed up since one material was used more than the other. Second, you don't need any splitters if you just want to merge two belts - see pic related if you just want to know how to do it, or try and figure it out yourself.

Rereading that, I'm dumb and thought you wanted to have a mixed belt, NVM, just look at pic related and you'll get it easy.

Specifically, don't have more than one item per lane.

To be fair, I have a couple of friends who want printers - one wants a $3000 resin printer when he knows absolutely nothing about 3D modeling, and the other wants me to print him the (non-metal) parts but can't find the time to sit down and discuss with me what printer he wants to make, so it's kind of a wide target audience possible.
