As this guy said. It's that the engine wasn't designed for what they've added to the game. It was designed for about a thousand provinces with way fewer mechanics. All this DLC bloat has resulted in a very bogged down system that doesn't work nearly as well.

Hey HPM, I'd appreciate if you could add a modifier to the Falkland islands, prior to the building of the Panama canal, that increases tax revenue greatly there. Not only would it be historicaly accurate but it would provide an Argentinean player an incentive, rather than roleplay, to take the islands. Basically, they charged people exorbitantly for supplies that allowed them to get through the cape without starving/drowning/wrecking. It was the sole money maker of the island and the only reason they were considered to be of strategic importance by the British.

If they happen in an Absolute Monarchy, they switch to constitutional, and before you say they should switch to Republic directly, historically those sorts of revolutions lead first to a Constitutional Monarchy (even in the French Revolution) and if things continued to be bad, a second uprising lead to a Republic.

It's vanilla and there's a whole bunch of events associated with it. Since it would require to make it so pops have that as an issue and it would screw symmetry in the reforms screen for not much, I will not do it.

It does make sense because most of the 1848 revolutions weren't outright republican (except in the case of France which was, coincidentally, a Constitutional Monarchy) but sought to increase political rights, which I think is modelled well in the game.
Also you could argue that the most radically republican elements of the Jacobins were just the Montagnard faction, so I think it's not a bad stretch to group the whole thing under the name "jacobins", lacking a more proper term. Just like the game groups NatSoc with fascism, it's a tolerable stretch.

Also, you should really rethink the Chinese treaty ports, Hainan is the obvious best choice most of the time due to it's massive population, perhaps an extra infamy cost to take it? Likewise for Taiwan. Or split it into several provinces like Taiwan and make only one small one be the initial concession.
Another good idea would be to add output efficiency to the Treaty Port modifier to represent the access to a large amount of resources that a treaty port would give.

The term is just used in Victoria because it was used by the anglo-world by conservatives to associate radicals (American republicans, Radicals in the UK) with La Terreur politicians. I don't know if you took a look at the misc zip from yesterday HPM, but it was also noted that you can only fire the Tanzimat reform with N&I but N&I is available only in 1850 while the reforms themselves started in 1839 with the Edict of Gülhane.

I guess the game was designed like that to make it so they prioritize social reforms first. So socialists care more about the 'plights of the common man' rather than their rights to vote.
I agree it doesn't make sense for them to not approve want trade unions but them again, pops don't fight for trade unions which basically means that only the player can change that. The AI can only do it through random events.
I could try to make them want trade unions of simply try to move trade unions to the social-part of the reforms, swapping with something else.

No, it's not unmmodable. It's not a matter of workload either.
The thing is, it would involve more changes to preserve the current aesthetic of the reforms screen and it would consume processing power just so a few pops can want it. I don't think it's worth the trouble just for that modifier and I don't think it would add much from the current way it is done.

The way ideologies work each one has the moderate and the extreme version of it. So Conservatives and Reactionaries, Liberals and Anarcho-Liberals, Socialists and communists. Only exception is fascism, but there isn't a moderate version of that and for obvious reasons there won't be.

Quotas play a role in distributing emigration instead of concentrating it. In earlier versions Canada always ended up a GP and it and the US sucked all immigrants. Now when they reach a certain size and date both implement quotas. It doesn't stop them from getting immigrants but it also doesn't mean they get it all, just that the poor and uneducated most commonly go to the rest of the new world.
It will have a better role with nativist events.

That was because I couldn't make it have the desired effect. I wanted to add it again so it could replace tech-spread events (like tractors) in provinces while cutting event spam, but I can't limit it to non colonial provinces only so it wasn't done.
