I agree it'd be way easier to abuse adept/spam aerial to get "Je suis monté" constantly, but I decided early on I was going to get through it without abusing mechanics like that and I'm enjoying it more because of it. The game feels harder than 4U IMO because it expects you to use different styles and arts. The only arts I ever use are the self-buff ones, I don't bother with having a dodge or a spin attack or whatever, doesn't seem worth worrying about since they have such long windup.

Load Up hardly helps when you're dealing with endgame element LBG's. You have 5+ shots, and it basically guarantees that you'll be able to use Full House for a complete reload every time.

It's also a lot less fucking ugly than most clownsuits too, which is always a positive.

I've been playing the series since 2004, imported MH Dos on release, put a couple hundred hours into pretty much every installment of it.

It just seems really against the spirit of the series to make a game where basically every new weapon you can make is the same, and then you only get a decent weapon by putting in 3x the grind and slowly upgrading it 10 Attack at a time. In previous games if you didn't want to grind out a bunch of weapons you could just skip a few tiers and go from a starter weapon to a Rathian/Barroth/Zamtrios-tier weapon or something like that, and you'd get a huge boost. It really removes the fun for me if every weapon you make is a piece of shit and you have to slowly crawl it up a few points at a time.

Kind of a bummer, then. I guess I'll just see if I can carry Bherna armor and level 2 Petrified weapons through the rest of the Village quests, and hopefully this upgrade system will go the way of MH3's bowgun assembly when it comes time for the next game.

While I kinda like the new Monsters I've encountered so far in Generations (only on 4* quests tho) the game doesn't feel anywhere near as engaging as 4U, and I'm not really enjoying the Hunter Arts especially since I typically main LS. Does the game get anymore engaging?

A hit from his chin slam (the one with the huge windup) is a guaranteed stun, he'll take a few steps back so you can't just run under him. Chin slam will detonate bombs you placed on the ground, you can break its chin just like you could break a barroth's head in Tri.

tail swings can spawn purple ore rocks that can be mined for treasure nuggets (will give you bonus zenny and resource point) purple rocks will spawn sleep gas after a while, or may just detonate randomly when thrown.

its just a buffed up uragaan that's really fucking annoying to fight if you don't know what the hell you're doing.

The only point to it I can see is the Thunder Pierce lv2 being able to rapid fire (kind of like how Zamtrios LBG can rapid fire ice pierce). Other than that, it seems all around worse than Khezu. I'd also imagine it drops off heavily when fighting bigger monsters like Akantor, where Khezu's much higher built in ammo capacity helps.

Got a question for gunners, I wanna take this shit more seriously this time.

I tried Normal and Pierce against Lagi and noticed Pierce was faster and had a lot more flinches. At first I thought Normal would be better for focusing the head and breast, is Pierce just that good on larger monsters?

Should I take this to mean Normal is only better for even weaker heads like Raths and Zinogre?

The sets were Naja HBG with AUL/WE and Mizu HBG with Pierce Up.

Generally, yeah.

Load Up works for internal ammo.

It does but it's absolutely useless since all it does is increase the already microscopic raw damage of element shots by 10%. You should be going for things like Water Attack Up +2.

It gives a HUGE damage boost. Consider that you're able to fire a burst of 3 shots. If you increase that to 4 shots via Rapid Fire, you just gave yourself 33% more damage for every single burst you fire.

NEVER use it. It's shit. You should be ideally trying to get Element Attack Up +2, Load Up, Rapid Fire, Trueshot Up (trueshot gives 20% more damage for all built in ammo).

Axe finisher and the sword double A sweep aren't good, or rather, the A sweep is strong but you want to use the vertical uppers anyway online so you don't trip people. The increased MV makes up for losing the double sweep for damage anyway. Adept will get you killed with swaxe because both the followups are slow as fuck. Aerial is insect glaive from 4U meme-tier. Guild is fine but it's literally a purely inferior Striker.

So, I'm the same guy again, making that gunlance set, still playing around with skills. I've got artillery expert, weakness exploit and razor sharp locked in, I know I'm not changing those. I'm still messing with the last 1 or 2 skills. Now I'm wondering, would crit boost work at all with weakness exploit, and would it be smart to have it on the set? Weakness exploit raisses affinity, however, the gunlance I'm using has no affinity, negative or positie, so would crit boost help at all?

Literally anyone could be decent at boomerang cat. Putting one together might take all of three hunts if you get shit numbers from the RNG, but other than that it's super accessible.

Besides that though, what's wrong with the other types of cats? They're just as survivable if you're not an idiot about it, and some of their support abilities are Hunting Horn tier, with some extra customization.

Was hoping someone could help me out since I've been using kiranico trying to crunch the numbers in building a part breaker blast Duel Blade Set. Obviously Sharpness and Destroyer are a must. And I was able to put this together, but feel I could do better.

I have the following items to work with along with just about any non hyper set.

Destroyer +5 O
And a weapon with 2 slots

Yeah, the speed bug has debuffed power so adding power to it doesn't help much. Max out speed and then go stamina so that your bug can grab an essence and float around a long time until your buff wears off and you can call it back for an immediate refill.

I have a fundamental question about the game

I know that when you hit hard parts on a monster you "use up" your sharpness much faster and when you bounce it goes does very fast.

But if you have mind's eye (or use a move that has it inherently), does sharpness still go down faster?

Say I have permanent mind's eye and hit a hermitaur in his hard shell only, will it drain sharpness quicker than hitting his soft parts?

Silverwind has 25% less affinity but more raw and a better white sharpness, I'd say silverwind wins out because with WE and critical eye/speed bug you get all the affinity you need, however, Silverwind has no slots so you need a very good charm, otherwise stick no normal narga
