Niantic with this update has not only broken the tracking system and made it legitimately harder to catch Pokemon; they introduced a anti-map scanning feature to circumvent things like pokevision

The "Pokemon caught turning to a different Pokemon" isn't a glitch or a meme. It was implemented and confirmed by silph road to be in the games code to combat sites like pokevision and other map scanning stuff

To snipe you temporarily teleport somewhere, begin the pokemon battle, and then teleport back to your original location. You get softbanned for a fraction of a second, but you're unbanned a fraction of a second later, so you notice no difference.

However if they were to simply add a check to see if the player is still within GPS range of the pokemon's spawn GPS location, and if it's beyond a reasonable distance then the battle is nullified and the player gets nothing.

The softban limitation in conjunction with a check as soon as the battle ends would be impossible to code out of.

Either you are no longer close to your original location which would get the battle nullified by the softban, or you're no longer close to the pokemon's location which would get the battle nullified by the check. You must be 1. still within the softban range of your GPS location and 2. within range of the pokemon's GPS location in order for the battle to be considered legitimate.

If I were Niantic it is what I would do and it would work.

The only way I can imagine something circumventing this is by being able to successfully broadcast from two locations at once which can also be prevented eventually, or making a sniper so precise it can be in one place at the exact time of the softban check, and the other place a fraction of a second later at the time of the pokemon location check. But once again, even that can be prevented by locking in the last reported location as soon as the battle starts to prevent tampering. This would also have the side effect of allowing people who started a battle legitimately postpone for as long as they like as long as they're not going sanic fast.
