Source: im running a bot which tells me the exact numbers pulled from the niantic api because theres no pokestops gyms or anything for ~25 miles from me.

Ofc, that chance is average - higher CP & IV pokemon will have different catch rates

post patch, closest to identical pokemon I could find:

[17:50:32] (PKMN) (CatchSuccess) | (Normal) Golbat Lvl: 6 CP: (220/285) | chance: 24.92%

....that's like a 50% drop in catch rate, with a bot that gets perfect throws every time. In real world applications (Which I can't do much of because as I said, no gyms, no pokemon, no pokestops etc), I imagine the curve-ball and freezing glitches are gonna turn that 24% into more of a 1-10% catch chance. Niantic have stealth-fucked every legit player of the game, only botters will not be affected by this. GG Niantic.

jumprate and whatever they do to knock the ball back isn't reflected by the bot can't give you numbers on that

TLDR: NIANTIC MADE IT FAR MUCH HARDER TO CATCH POKEMON. EVENN THE LOWEDT CP MONS BREAK FREE OF MULTIPLE BALLS

My sister did have this weird glitch on her galaxy 5 where the pokeball didn't always make contact with the Pokemon and sort of just skipped a bit of the capture animation. Well the collectathon aspect is shot into the ground due to the fact its even harder to find shit now, let alone actually catch it.

Its even harder for lower ranked/level people to climb to a level they can actually compete in due to the fact its harder to get the materials to level fast, meanwhile the people that are already in the High 20's+ don't have to really worry as its going to take the competition forever to catch up. Its still a "Select few defender pokemon" pissing match.

By competitive, I just mean being rewarded by the game and having my status in the game reflect my skill.

I had gotten really good at throwing curveballs and then 0.31.0 fucked that up. Wasted all that time.

I keep landing Great and Excellent throws and this game now doesn't give me XP for them.

The catch rate has gone down and this ruins walking for me because I have to stand still and catch the pokemon before I walk to the next pokestop. So now I'm doing less walking than before just because Niantic thought it would be fun to sell more pokeballs to little kids, even though walking is essentially the core stat in this game.

Searching for Pokemon used to be doable if you were smart enough to hone in on them based on the number of steps shown in the radar. Now it's impossible and amounts to a random walk.

All these changes and feature removals have made gameplay a lot more bland and a lot less rewarding. Suddenly throwing balls like a retard and walking around aimlessly is just as good as searching intelligently and throwing a perfect curveball that lands in an excellent radius. Suddenly being able to walk 20 miles is not important.

I have 2 bots going, and a couple minutes ago one of them checked some coords for a Blastoise, didn't find it, didn't try to catch

About 30 seconds later, my other bot tried to snipe the same coords, it actually caught the Blastoise, and then it released it (appropriately)

I have no idea why sometimes it finds it and sometimes it doesn't

Today I actually had fun in this game for the first time since the release.

I dropped my walker account's 2.3k Exeggutor on one of my uni's gyms, then two of my buddies put in their 2k snorlax and 1.7k lapras. Then I hopped on my bot account and dropped a 3k dragonite just for good measure, because they knew I had a bot account and wanted to make the gym permanent. Somehow the mixed satifaction of working legitimately to take a gym with friends, then adding some bullshit on top almost made the game fun. Watching 8 Mystic players group up and coordinate into a "team" to take the gym down was really cool, too. It almost seemed like despite all the bullshit that the game was still worth playing.

Typing this made me realize that I really want this game to succeed. Sometimes moments like this make me remember how cool this game could be and that even with all the bullshit it still isn't that bad. It's a conflicting feeling. Sorry for the blogpost by the way
