It used to be able to run of fucking coal and wood. Why the fuck shouldn't the ship be able to run on oil? "Erchius fuel" is just magic space liquid that nobody understands but works in ships, so why not oil? Sure it'd take more oil than erchius fuel to use in your ship, but it should still be fucking viable. Maybe 10 units of oil to 1 unit of Erchius fuel, I don't know.

Is there a mod that makes blocks worth anything?

Either do random quests for villagers or colonists, as after each one there is a chance the quest giver will ask to join your crew, or hire penguins for 3 diamonds each at the outpost. You get an upgrade for each two crew members, though if you're already on level 3 for instance you'll need 8 for the level 4 upgrade.

I liked it more when the monster that attacked the Earth was related to the FTL crystals being used. Would make sense too. Humans mine crystals, ship them all to Earth, extra dimensional monsters like the crystals and go to large concentrations of them.

Finally got it.

While it has the same display stats as the violium sword, the actual combo of three attacks is significantly faster (30 frames for violium vs 20 frames for the solus), so it might actually be stronger even without considering the special.

Sadly when it's "sheathed" it reverts into an iron katana instead of having the blade extend from the handle in the cool way the violium one does.

It's not a particularly good game, but like minecraft and terraria, which are also not particularly good games, there's a certain kind of person that will have trouble putting it down because just building, exploring and collecting shit is autistic fun.

Also most of the cut content is lore. A roughly equal amount of new lore was added and generally hints that the "cut" lore actually happened years (possibly hundreds) in the past, except in the case of apex lore which is still basically the same except for their interactions with other races. The lore was never good and still isn't though so I wouldn't worry about it much anyway if you weren't already a creepy furry RPer in this game.

Abilities like erecting a force field to reflect bullets for a second, generate loads of light for a few seconds, or a temporary grappling hook, all of these allowing you to use these kinds of abilities while keeping your main weapon out.

Hotkeys for items, i.e: instead of pushing 4 to swap to my bandages and then having to click to use them, just assign bandages to the hotkey which uses them.

A better question is how is it a good game? Looks like shit, plays like shit. It can be fun, but so can Starbound and Minecraft. It's a guilty pleasure at best, however. The focus of the game is definitely on the bosses but apart from the first boss (which is easy, but at least designed to be fought like a videogame boss) and the last boss (which you should be fighting once you have enough shit that an arena becomes trivial, like a staff that teleports you around and the ability to fly and hover indefinitely, and which redigit has made clear they don't want people to cheese) they're all garbage that is literally designed around the idea of the player building a specific type of arena and using a type of weapon that trivialises them to the point that you could do them with your eyes closed (and for most you can recycle the "long straight path to sprint down" arena) while if you don't you either use the melee set that makes it so you practically cannot die and can just sit there hitting them until they die or you get fucked.

Apart from that, building sucks and is like pulling teeth, it looks like trash, the music is migraine-inducing (but that's a minor complaint since you can mute the music), common enemies are just there as an annoyance/very earlygame deterrent, it's INCREDIBLY grindy and it's generally a poorly-coded buggy mess (obviously getting better over time with more patches, but still pretty sloppy all around). It even has very poor modding support.
