H on win/lose in H-games is a shit mechanic.
Sometimes you just finished fapping and still have to go through a sex scene just because the game says so.
Just make the actual gameplay slightly erotic and lewd and have some "slave system" in which you unlock new characters with game progression, then these characters get sent to your dungeon and you can go through the sex scenes any time you want.
It's so good and simple I don't know how it hasn't been done before.

That trailer is really lackluster, to be honest. Why would you omit the sound effects from an over-the-top action game? A midi-esque generic rock track isn't going to do much to sell the feel of your game when its set against absolutely nothing. Disable your in-game music, record some gameplay with sounds only, and then put music over that. Something more stylized than slowly-zooming-white-text-on-black is going to be a good bet too. The visual style is kind of broken with when you go from pixelstuff to video-editor-default-text stuff

Delayed execution. Faking took me 3 full days to add as the system resolves what happens instantly and then the view has to wait to update, so now I'm passing around animDelay all over the place, because there's no obvious clean way, which then creates more problems - can't move until the animation completes, if you do, it becomes jumpy. If works okay if the delay is something like 50ms, where it's 500 in the webm.

Don't know if you're already doing this, but the thing a lot of games do is shift the camera's position to the end that's opposite of where you're looking. So when turning from facing North to facing East, the camera moves it's position from the South edge of the tile to the West edge. When this happens during the duration of the turn, it's unnoticeable.

I'm not wholly familiar with the common paradigms apart from MVC, which is not what I have, so I'm not sure about some of your terms.

What I have is something essentially an object which can be set up to call back on each update. It would then automatically update the sprite position/changes until it finishes. But to do that it needs info, when to start, finish and what to do. So you could say it is separated, but the setup of every animation after the entire state of the game changes every time a unit decides to do something is not "convenient".

The idea behind doing it with continuations is that whenever an animation should be played, it is returned from the logic with an associated continuation of the logic (which also returns, potentially, an animation + continuation). It doesn't have to be just an "animation", either - anything that takes some time to complete before continuing with the logic, like a simple delay or playing a sound and waiting for it to finish. There's no tricks involved in having something cascade because it's all done in the logic.

This is much easier than trying to do the whole logic step and then playing all the animations or whatever.

So how I did it, which now you probably can't was:

Every unit in the game was represented without graphics in mind.

THEN every time I created a monster, i created a graphics handler for that object.
So when I updated the graphics, the graphics-handler for that monster(or whatever) read the current state etc of the thing and updated graphics and drew the monster onto accordingly.
Then I had some basic logic attached such as: If it is in current state play this animation until the animation is done etc.

Can someone help me with Gamemaker? I have a ds_grid that my player moves on. I loop through the entire grid each step to check where my objects are, but for some reason it only finds one of my wall objects. It will only flag the first wall object it finds. My player only moves through squares that are flagged as empty (0). Here is the code that looks for the objects and flags them:

It should flag all wall objects, but it only finds one. Is my for loop bad or something? Here's a shitty webm I just made that shows the debugger. On the right it shows what spaces are flagged on the spaces where x=0. It should have 4 spaces flagged as 2, but it only shows 1.

I tried minimizing the coupling too, so the Units can swap sprites easily, but they still control it. In your case, it sounds like you would lose control over immediate triggering, if you have to see what happened to the unit from previous rendering and carry some extra data for that.

My approach mainly clashes with the fact that I built it around what would be easier to network, which doesn't care about graphics, only needs the variable changes. Pick your poison.

If it's your first game and want to focus on your writing (in)abilities, I'd honestly suggest trying Ren'Py and make a simple story. I think from there you'd be able to determine how you (as a player) want to interact with your story.

Like if it's about a dude iiin spaaaace working with micro-organisms found on another planet, you might want to have the player inspect or mutate them. Or if it's about a weeb that gets stuck in an awful light novel, you might want to have jrpg elements incorporated.

Anyone here familiar with android and/or libGDX?
Having a strange asset loading issue that I think might be hardware related.

The game I'm working on is quite animation heavy and I've noticed that after a certain set of loaded frames it just stops loading them properly.

Be it through TextureRegions & Spritesheets or individual Textures doesn't matter the animations past a certain amount(250ish) just turn black.
It doesn't crash or return null on the sprites just black frames.

Running it on emulator works just fine however, but on my phone(Galaxy s2) it doesn't, file size is < 20MB so it can't be that.
I've been googling for hours, I'm completely stuck.

Still here, still breathing, still working, still progress.

Downtown is now mostly greyboxed, and I've started placing interactives.

In that spirit, a new (still somewhat in beta) asset: a desk! Conveniently high enough to peek over and shoot but protects the head. Currently, knee slides near this object interrupt on contact, but I'm working on redirection so that the player always rolls/slides INTO it, making it more useful as a cover-to-cover dashing asset.

Purely optional, of course, I don't expect anyone to play Mayhem League so gun-heavy, but I do like having it play well if they do.

It's a nod to cover shooters (Vanquish in particular) to include stuff like this but it's not really how I'd expect you to play. You could just as easily parry a bullet back and go to town meleeing them, or bullet-time-dodge away from their shots. They can't really track you unless you're still.

It's just, I'm the kind of person to sometimes play THPS with all stats at min and just attempt to kickflip stair sets. I like acknowledging "alt" playstyles and adding light elements to support that, such as "cover" obstacles that work well for that purpose.

Said hot spring flows down the mountain and heats the protagonist's town, which is now frozen over because the monster is taking energy from the spring
The evil guy (and his fortress) is all about extreme temperatures, so it's full of magma and ice, for some reason.

That much is pretty set in stone at this point, and I'm struggling to come up with how it fits together.
Taking energy from a hot spring doesn't make much sense if there is magma everywhere.
He could be using the energy from the spring to melt rock and make magma, for some reason.
Maybe he's making a volcano, for reasons.
Maybe he is 'using' the lava which previously heated up a normal river and that's why everything is cold.
