That's more or less what you should be doing though. Go in with your level 1 or 2 charge attacks, use your three hit combo if you have a big opening, repeat. Only use the three hit if you'll actually hit with the golf swing, otherwise use the superpound or something.

Super pound is a stationary level 3 attack.

Your best attack for sleeping monsters is the golf swing, but it can take a bit of practise because you need to whiff the first two hits. Just use the superpound if you're not comfortable, it's not far behind (you need to whiff the first hit of the pound as well though). I'm not actually sure where these rate against Barrel Bombs in X though.

The Kinsect tree you want is the speed one beccause it gives you about 50% affinity for having white extract, so:

It's useful for specific monsters. I find that Sand Anchor, for example, is really good against Glavenus, even better than my Hiten Blade that has slightly higher attack, but no water.

IG doesn't benefit from element at the level of DB, but it's definitely useful, just don't get crazy about it. If you find it hard to get a specific elemental IG, just try the highest raw available and you'll have a good time. Heck, I soloed the entire high rank with the Narga IG and had no problems.

I know this has been a problem in every game but I feel like in Gen there's always one weapon better than every other one in its category. At least in 4U we got a few options

Mounting in Gens feels poorly implemented in general. Maps in 4U had a lot more ledges and cliffs and things you could jump off or otherwise naturally work into your play. In gens it really feels like you have to either spam one ledge over and over or play Aerial - which I guess makes sense otherwise Aerial would be useless, but too bad Aerial is pretty shit to play for most weapons and spammy as all hell.

Go to speed, then either end evolving to a balanced insect or something specific if that floats your boat.

I find adept is great for the insect if you're great with dodge timing of adept evades. Every time you evade you basically get a free extract, so it's easy as fuck to get to all 3 if you evade often and well.

Upgrading the Kinsect is like upgrading a weapon, you level it up and then upgrade it, you have 4 options, Heavy, Power, Speed and Balanced, speed is the best one so investing in speed is important so you can upgrade it. The speed Kinsect makes your bug faster, the power one makes it stronger, etc.


You don't get to choose the Kinsect damage, it comes with the weapon, some are impact and some are cutting, but overall it doesn't really matter because you won't be stunning monsters or cutting tails with the Kinsect any time soon.

It's easier to understand by experimenting, forge a shit IG and test a few times without saving, i think you'll get a better understanding of how it works.

I never go out of my way to mount - it's just that in 4U you could naturally work in aerial attacks when chasing down monsters and such. You have to look for them in Gens, or play Aerial as I said.

Eh. Gold Ceaseus was fairly aggressive but you can still see that it's just a fight with the monster on rails and you having to fucking chase it, which is made worse since it's underwater.

I feel a lot of the huge elders are just big hitboxes that do big fuckhuge indirect attacks that you need to either dodge or protect something against.

At least Gogmazios made sense because he was attacking a keep but he doesn't seen as gigantic as others.

Anyone know? I've seen other sites like GameFAQs saying that you need 1500 points in each village to unlock certain quests, but I don't have any way of verifying that myself just yet.

For what it's worth, I have 605 points for Bherna, 1065 for Kokoto, 1005 for Pokke, and 1800 for Yukumo because they seem to have a fuckton of requests compared to all the others.

It's 1500 Kokoto contribution for Wrath of Rath, 1500 Pokke for The Golden Pair, 1500 Yukumo for Out of the Fry Pan.

Only the last one is relevant as it gets you the Hayabusa Feather. You get plenty of Yukumo contribution just from charm farming, I'm sitting at 8085 Yukumo and I still haven't even gotten a good charm.

I use bows for those few monsters that really erk me. You know, that one monster that has that one move that totally wrecks you and no matter how are you try to learn it, it always hits you. I use the bow for that.

But if your interested in range combat, Bowgun/Heavy Bowgun are great because they feel like they do damage. Normal Bowguns are good for soloing because they burst fire multiple shots with a single shot. So say your gun burst flame rounds, its 50x3.
