they scale off your physical attack which is contributed to by your str, yes, but going high crit is another way to achieve the same effect. the only thing a dexlander is losing is some bleed damage, which is insignificant at best considering many late game monsters are immune to it anyway. ultimately, the tradeoff is having moar dodge and better spike damage vs better consistency.

there is literally no reason at all to go high dex as a swordsman right now after the str buff. originally calcs showed at 280 theres around a 25% difference between str and dex but dex won out due to evasion so the 25% bonus damage of str didn't matter too much. now however with the 1.3x str buff and with everyone knowing def isn't a meme, dex is worthless for a swordsman bar shinobi and fencer (shinobi needs to dodge for charging up bushin and shiz not to mention gear breaks too fast without evasion, fencer scales heavily off evasion)

Even a full DEX Swordie with Crit Rate gems will only get like 80% crit rate on high level monsters. If you think you can get STR and Gems and stil lcrit reliably, you're delusional.

Choosing STR means you can't PvP. You'll never hit another Swordsman or an Archer.

A skill doesn't "scale with STR" just because it takes p.atk into consideration. If that werre true, everything in the Swordie tree would "scale with STR. Things only scale with a stat if the STAT is taken directly into the calculation.

Not him and not saying STR isn't better for Dopp/Highlander (don't have exp with high levle swordsman) but you can't just generalize a skill to be good via STR just because it's multi-hit. You gotta calculate the average damage with a rough estimate of STR/Atk/Crit/buffs. Multihits are said to benefit from STR because they have too-low base skill attack to benefit from dex more. 1355 base atk is pretty high and going to get higher with Dopplel 3, and your weapon already adds like 400 Attack so the extra 500 atk and (750crit atk * ~15% crit rate) might not be as beneficial as a 85% crit rate multiplying your hits by 1.5x damage. And crit atk is a flat bonus after the 1.5x damage calculation. And for an even fuller picture you have to look into your ideal rotation in each scenario (PvP/trash mobs/boss). Again I don't know how each class/builds buffs work besides Deeds adding attack% so whatever your phys attack is at 280 you can do that math yourself I don't know how swordsman stats look like at that level with some gear.

Take 3 points instead of 5 in gungho and put rest into pain barrier, the anti-knockback is godly for whirlmeme later on as even with debuff resistance you still occasionally get interrupted by knockbacks.
You only ever need 3 points max in cross guard since the debuff only scales with your str. 1 point is probs enough desu but you miss out on the attribute.
If you're going doppel than feel free to max frenzy as with deeds, the weapon attack speed bonus lets you easily get 10 stacks with autos, its still lackluster as a skill but its still pretty good for bosses.
You'll want 1 point in giant swing, trust me its fun.
Cyclone is currently the BEST swordsman skill and scales extremely well with leveling, you'll want to max it asap.
You want 1 point in mord for the strike damage as only having helm+cartar stroke isn't enough
Double pay earn is godly but you will rarely need more than 3-4 points unless you're very bad at calcing attacks or are trying to get double pay earn to activate against a huge mob
Zucken, zornhau and redel are absolute garbage right now that deals less damage than barb skills but maybe c3 will change taht so ehhh the points are okay I guess

The benefit you'd get from going Pelt friend would be off-tank/increased mobbing and you get 25% bonus HP when Swashbuckling is active (Lv5 attribute, essentially 100% uptime but it wears off for a second between Swashbuckles). I also heard the Guardian ability is turning the Phys Atk/Def from flat values to percentages, which seems you could tank physical monsters with plate gear using it but idk I never played Sword past 25.

Highlander is picked I believe mainly for it's passive attribute that boosts your critical attack by 1.5. Wheel just for 1sec CC? The other 3 abilities seem useful too, idk the exact point values though.

Or Swordsman2 for more Pain Barrier and also Restrain (5/5 for 20% stun chance). Restrain has really high CD though so idk about it.

Mostly STR with some dex and con seems best to me. Highlander is good as I mentioned above. I think most people completely ignore Thrust since it falls off late-game and might only be useful if you're Sword2 and get the bleed attribute. For Highlander I'm going to assume most people would 5/5 Crown and Cross Guard, though Cartar Stroke seems like it could be useful (again I don't know about swordies) with Wagon Wheel just getting 1 point for knock-down CC utility.

But honestly just reroll you look like you're only level like 20 or something. Reroll, skip tutorial, do the Infroroktor quest in West Siualai but never turn it in so you have permanent free warp to Klaipeda, then run with your friend to Srautas Gorge and have him farm Cafrisun set for you while you do whatever you want near the monsters he kills in party. He spawns every 30mins; you'll reach 20 in like 1 hour or 2 or something EZ

Pain barrier 2 is more than enough to cover two Cyclones. If anything I'd rather use a skill reset potion and have 1 bash with the att and dip the rest on pain barrier

Actually, for me it works in tandem with the new cleave debuff since seism is a slash. Sometimes you fight mobs that you just can't stun or bosses. I use cleave first followed by a stronger seism.

You can use frenzy against multiple enemies, you just can't change the composition of the multiple enemies and stacks still go up by only 1 per attack.
Example: Theres enemy abc in a bunch and you charge to 20 stacks by hitting enemies abc all at the same time
Suddenly enemy c dies and you accidentally attack enemy a+b without c, woops your frenzy resets boo hoo

Its a garbage skill even when it works on more than one mob due to how it is and the time wasted stacking the auto-attack buff.

You'll have gotten maybe 300 points at 280 to spend on stats (279 and ~20 from statues or quests or something). If you're uncertain about any Dex just go full STR until you're maybe lv35 or 40, and save the stat points until you reach the 50 dungeon and think you need more HP. At that point either get some CON or just put it in STR again. After that, keep going STR until you're 150ish. You can worry about DEX as your last stat maybe around level 150. STR will help your current low-base-atk skills and auto-attacks while leveling. So just go mostly STR and a little sprinkle in Con (30ish max for now?) while you look more into stats and damage calculations (look at the ToS mechanics book in OP) as you level up to 150.

Here's my take on the whole DEX vs STR thing.

Going DEX doesn't mean having sub-par damage, as long as you also invest in some STR. Full DEX, full STR or hybrid each have their own pros and cons but they're all fine if you know how to go about with these stats.

At the end, it all boils down to your own playstyle preference. There's no 1 stat build for all or otherwise it would've been codified by now.

Critting multiplies your (attack+ skill atk) by 1.5. However, you won't always crit, so you have to multiply crit chance*critmod to get your average damage.

What determines your weapon attack in minigame?

I know you get no bonus from gems and upgrades, but does the weapon level works? I've found that ignition works and that you get more damage from a staff than with a rod and shield, same thing for bows, which is fine.

It's literally mdef versus the player's Matk+SkillAtk. It would nullify meme cloud's base attack (648) and leave the damage completely to the Wizard's gear+int. Meme cannon has too high base attack though (1800). The difference then gets multiplied by Quickcast and the attribute boost.
