A good guild is more than just people bugging each other for shit they need to get done in game, it's a family. FP doesn't even have a voip server.
They are also far from organized or dedicated, letting just about anyone join as long as they like PvP just to appease the thread isn't how you build a good guild, that's something every single /vg/ guild I've ever seen does wrong straight from the get go. The better guilds are always the more elusive ones that emerge after people formed cliques in the garbage anyone can join ones.
The problem with ToS is that there isn't much in terms of talent pool with the game being as flawed as it is so none of the better guilds ever get made since the only ones playing are random "I play to have fun xddd" type personalities that don't give too much of a fuck.

Define PvP, what are you building around? Cannon is pretty spectacular in GBL and fletchers rule the 2v2 arena, instantly beating any team that doesn't have a debuff immunity. DMA is good even in the 5v5 arena and cannoneers and musketeers hold their own there too.
There's also a couple SRs doing really well in both queues last I checked, despite the odds.

Corsair's in kinda a weird spot. None of the skills really stand out in PVE. Iron Hook is amazing for PVP (it's basically the hardest CC in the game, none of the anti-CC shit resists it) but that's usually all this class is taken for (and the costume.) Corsair C2 gets Hexen Dropper which is really good in PVP but that's about all that circle really adds.
Swordsman is a good choice for new players. It's fun in my opinion (though I main a wizard now) and can easily be played with a controller for maximum comfy. Most long term sword builds take Peltasta 1 as your second circle, because this gives you Swashbuckling, which is the taunt/pull and the only real reason most people want swordsmen in their groups.
Good things to pair with Corsair include Hoplite early on, which opens up Spears, the best swordsmen weapons in the game by a good margin.
Be prepared to mess up and want to reroll. Just about all of us have. Enjoy the game as best you can in the meantime, there's no rush.

Fletcher is shit against actual PvP builds. Broadhead just gets resisted 90% of the time if whoever you are fighting has reasonable SPR and other than that you don't have anything too worthwhile. Bodkin is nice for wiping shields but that hits its ceiling with just Fletcher1.

It's honestly not very good. The toy hammer DWA meme build died pretty hard just because of how bad DWA itself is, and the nerf recently made it proc way less. I'd honestly consider rerolling, but if you take Doppelsoldner for your C7, with the barb slashing buffs you'll at least put out decent damage. Sadly Corsair 2's Hexen Dropper is piercing (I think? Correct me if I'm wrong) so it won't benefit from the new barbarian Slashing damage buff.

Get 137 SPR, enjoy your 80% hard capped resist chance against debuffs. Go to town.
Well worth the 10k HP you are missing out on in a lot of scenarios, but you don't even have to go all the way. Even just a solid 80 SPR lets you resist shit the majority of the time.
For GvG you will always have a PD with you so it's less important there, still decent enough though since it can even protect you from a lot of the otherwise unavoidable T10 ailments like Iron Hook.

Never played RO enough to do WoE, but something tells me you don't respawn directly on top of the fucking main objective with a 2-3 second invuln timer at 5 fps where you immediately get linked or CC'd before you can even act and die immediately.
